Taylor Swift’s infamous “shut the f–k up” comment at the MTV Video Music Awards was not actually about Harry Styles, her friend Ed Sheeran says. Sheeran said in an interview that Swift’s “STFU” remark , caught on camera as the One Direction singer was speaking, looked bad, but was not what you think. It was not aimed at her ex, but at her best friend Selena Gomez, who said seconds earlier that she thought Miley Cyrus was going to win Best Pop Video. In response to that comment, Sheeran says, Taylor Swift told her to “Shut the f–k up” as a means of saying Gomez will win the award (which she did). Sheeran added that Swift came up to him after realizing this blew up online and explained what happened with Selena, noting that “I messed up.” So … Taylor is not a vindictive ex, but rather a good friend? Not as good for celebrity gossip , but better for society!
Not so fast, movie fans. Despite clear excitement over rumors that Bryan Cranston will portray Lex Luthor in the 2015 Man of Steel sequel, the actor spoke to The Boston Globe late last week and made it very clear: those are just rumors. “This is all news to me,” he said of chatter that his role as Superman’s arch nemesis was a done deal. The Emmy winner went on to joke: “I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.” Darn. Ben Affleck, of course, has been cast as Batman in the upcoming blockbuster, with some fans so irate over that move that they’re petitioning Warner Bros. to change its mind. We doubt that will happen. But at least Cranston didn’t role out his participation as Lex Luthor… right?!? A site can dream, can’t it?
The Butler was no match for the boy band. After a strong opening day showing at the box office, One Direction continued to dominate on Saturday and Sunday, racking up $17 million in total profits and finishing the holiday weekend as the top film in all the land. Harry Styles and company easily out-earned Katy Perry: Part of Me , which only brought in $7.3 in its opening few days, although the young singers could not toppled Justin Bieber and his opening mark of $29 million food Never Say Never . With the victory, This Is Us knocked Lee Daniels’ The Butler from its top perch, but not by much. Here’s a look at the top five grossing films of Labor Day weekend: One Direction: This Is Us: $17 million Lee Daniels’ The Butler: $14.7 million We’re the Millers: $12.6 million Planes: $7.8 million Instructions Not Included: $7.5 million
The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev posted a photo of herself doing some bikini-clad lakeside yoga, making us a little sad that it’s Labor Day weekend. #yogi4life,” she wrote, and with today marking the unofficial end of summer, these are the memories we will cherish forever. Or at least until Memorial Day 2014. If it’s any consolation, The Vampire Diaries Season 5 kicks off October 3, and we can at least speculate that she is taunting Ian Somerhalder a bit with this photo. Taunts or no taunts, she is loving life these days. After the jump, you can also check out another pic of Dobrev with best friend Julianne Hough and other pals, having what looks like the best day EVER. #LakeLife.
It will take a lot more than alleged cocaine use by her brother-in-law to top Kourtney Kardashian from partying. With Khloe Kardashian trying to put on a brave face in the midst of a marital meltdown, her sister jetted off to Las Vegas for Labor Day weekend… … and looked darn good while doing so! While hosting a party inside Hyde Nightclub at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, Kourtney donned a low-cut top and walked the red carpet alongside close family friend Malika Haqq. It’s unclear where Scott Disick was during the event, but children Mason and Penelope were in good hands with grandmother Kris Jenner. Okay. They were in hands at least. Watch the following video to ogle Kourtney’s revealing outfit: Kourtney Kardashian in Las Vegas

Chris Christie Approves Of Medical Mary Jane For Children via CBS News Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., offered his conditional approval to a bill expanding the availability of medical [mean green] to sick children on Friday, framing his decision as a move to keep government bureaucrats out of families’ health care decisions. “As I have repeatedly noted, I believe that parents, and not government regulators, are best suited to decide how to care for their children,” Christie said in a press release announcing his decision. “Protection of our children remains my utmost concern, and my heart goes out to those children and their families who are suffering with serious illnesses.” Do you agree? Let’s discuss.
Well, isn’t that special … Burglars Return Stolen Computers To Sexual Assault Services Charity Via HuffPo reports: The thieves broke into the San Bernardino County Sexual Assault Services office on the night of July 31, according to a press release from Cal Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (OES). Candy Stallings, the nonprofit’s executive director, said the burglars had shimmied between floor boards and walls to get past the building’s high security system. They also clipped multiple alarm wires, CBS Los Angeles reported. Within minutes, six computers with hard drives, a laptop and a bag of valuables were taken. Police called Stallings the next morning around 4:30, according to NBC Los Angeles. They told her more suspicious activity was taking place at her office. But when Stallings arrived, she found a surprise. “All my stuff was in front of the door,” she told the station. “There was a shopping cart, and there were the PCs that were taken, there was the laptop. Everything was there.” In that laptop, an investigator discovered the note. It read: We had no idea what we were takeing [sic]. Here your stuff back. We hope that you guys can continue to make a difference in peoples [sic] live. God bless. “We were all pretty shocked,” Stallings added. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I was in disbelief. I got chills. I got very emotional.” “This is the first time in my career I have seen the return of stolen items,” San Bernardino Police Lt. Paul Williams told NBC. “It appears the guilt of taking the property caused the return of the items.” Someone steals what isn’t theirs, then evokes the blessings of God. You just have to shake your head at such blatant religious hypocrisy. They are still trash!
Study Shows Conservatives Think “Mixed Race” People Are Black Black or White???? According to Daily Caller: Mixed-race people are more likely to be considered black by conservatives, who are subconsciously attempting to “justify racial divisions,” said the authors of a new government-funded study. The report, originally released earlier this month, has begun attracting criticism from those who see political bias in the results. The study was conducted by graduate students and faculty in the psychology department of New York University. Researchers asked participants to look at pictures of mixed-race people and say whether they were black or white. The study found that conservatives were more likely to think of a mixed-race person as black than were liberal participants. This relates to what social psychology researchers call the “one drop rule,” which states that people of mixed racial heritage are often lumped in whatever racial category has the lowest social standing. “Conservatives… may maintain traditional boundaries associated with the hierarchical social order — and, as a result, they categorize multi-racial individuals according to the most socially subordinate group membership,” said an NYU press release about the study. Seeking causes for this purported racism, the study gauged conservatives’ views by asking them whether “we should do what we can to equalize conditions for groups.” A “no” answer was indicative of a conservative who opposed equality. The study’s authors then made the connection: conservatives want to link mixed-race people with blacks as a means of preserving historical inequities. Discuss… Youtube
