Steven Spielberg Considers Making ‘Jurassic Park’ 3-D

At press day for ‘The Adventures of Tintin,’ director tells MTV News, ‘The only movie I’m interested in post-converting is the first ‘Jurassic.’ ‘ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Steven Spielberg Photo: MTV News With so many filmmakers and studios embracing the box-office potential of post-conversion 3-D these days, it seems there are no limits to the conversion and remastering possibilities for older releases. After all, Disney just had great success with its release of “The Lion King” in 3-D , George Lucas is hard at work on the 3-D conversion of his “Star Wars” franchise , and James Cameron is set to release “Titanic 3D” next year. When MTV News caught up with Hollywood icon and Oscar-winner Steven Spielberg recently during the press day for “The Adventures of Tintin,” which was shot in 3-D, we asked whether he’s considered applying post-conversion 3-D technology to any of his classics. “I’ve always said ‘Jurassic Park,’ the first one, would be really good post-converted in 3-D,” he said of his 1993 blockbuster. “I think James Cameron has done the greatest 3-D in history with ‘Avatar’: I don’t think anything has surpassed James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ in terms of the 3-D experience, beyond the fact I love the movie so much, and so I figure that James is going to teach all of us a lesson how to post-convert. If we follow his precepts, more films will be post-converted, but the only movie I’m interested in post-converting is the first ‘Jurassic.’ ” After Cameron’s “Titanic 3D” arrives in theaters in April 2012, perhaps Spielberg will be more set on whether “Jurassic Park 3D” will follow. The director made it clear he doesn’t make those decisions lightly, however, speaking about whether he and George Lucas will make a rumored fifth “Indiana Jones” film . “I would not make a fifth movie to try to prove any point,” he said. “If we get a good story, I’ll make it. If George [Lucas] doesn’t think we should make any more, I’ll listen to him.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Adventures Of Tintin.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Jerry Sandusky Waives Hearing, Vows a "Fight to the Death"

Jerry Sandusky pleaded not guilty inside of a Pennsylvania courtroom today, waiving his right to a preliminary hearing in the process and avoiding any testimony from those who have accused him of child abuse. For now at least. The disgraced ex-defensive coordinator at Penn State subsequently appeared on the courtroom steps alongside his lawyer, Joseph Amendola, who told the press: “There will be no plea negotiations. This is a fight to the death.” Amendola added that his client also waived his appearance at the January 11 arraignment and asked for a jury trial. A handful of alleged victims were present at the court house this morning and prepared to make their claims public , a step they will now take instead some time in 2012. Said Howard Janet, an attorney for one of the boys who has said he showered with Sandusky : “It would have been apparent from watching those boys and their demeanor that they were telling the truth.” Amendola, of course, says otherwise, telling reporters: “We’re pursuing a financial motivation. Finances and money are great motivators.” Late last week, Sandusky’s wife spoke out in support of her husband. She said the former coach only tried to ” help and care ” for the children that came through Second Mile, a charity he founded in the late 1970s, from which many believe he culled his young prey.

Hulk Hogan Sues Ex-Wife for Defamation

It’s been a long time since we wrote about Hulk Hogan and his ex-wife, but don’t worry. The two haven’t become any more stable. The former WWE star has filed a lawsuit against Linda Hogan, alleging she lied and defamed him her memoir, “Wrestling the Hulk—My Life Against the Ropes.” In the book, Linda claims Hulk beat her , took drugs and engaged in sexual encounters, all fibs meant to revive her career, the wrestler says in court documents. The 18-page lawsuit states that such accusations have “harmed the reputation of Mr. Bollea, exposed him to distrust, hatred, contempt and ridicule.” Hulk is demanding a trial by jury and asking for Linda to stop broadcasting and publishing excerpts from the biography during her book promotion. In an interview earlier this year, Linda said she feared becoming a “a statistic” like Nicole Simpson, hinting strongly that Hulk often came close to killing her.

Rachel Crow on X Factor Elimination: Don’t Blame Nicole!

It was the most emotional scene of The X Factor season: Rachel Crow, 13, falling into sobs as soon after she eliminated from the competition this week… while the crowd booed Nicole Scherzinger for not casting a vote that would have saved the contestant. After the show, however, Rachel was far more calm than many in the audience. Rachel Crow Sings for Survival “I am not feeling the greatest, but I will be fine,” the singer told the press, adding of Scherzinger: “She told me that she was sorry. I don’t know why she said that… I told her it was okay and not her fault.” Considering the hate-filled messages directed at Nicole and Paula Abdul last week, Crow also issued this plea to fans: “I want to say to all those people, ‘Stop, Please.’ [Scherzinger] is the nicest person and the most beautiful person inside and out… She is amazing, and I don’t understand why people are taking it out on her. It’s no one’s fault. It’s not even America’s fault. It’s no one person’s fault. It’s just what God had in store for me. And I will be okay.” Do you think Rachel should have been voted out?

‘X Factor’ Sneak Peek: A Slew Of Dancers, And A Guitar!

Simon Cowell tells MTV News he has recovered after Drew Ryniewicz’s shocking elimination last week. By Jim Cantiello Simon Cowell Photo: FOX MTV News’ own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering “The X Factor” rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report! LOS ANGELES — Breaking news from “The X Factor” set: They’ve moved the craft service table to a secret undisclosed location. Who knew fruit roll-ups, granola bars and coffee had so much in common with Dick Cheney? In all seriousness, things are tense in the “X Factor” world. The contestants are still processing last week’s shocking double-elimination . With two of the early front-runners gone, it’s anyone’s $5 million contract to win, and the five remaining singers know it — as does judge Simon Cowell, who was spotted having a cigarette break with a contestant with whom he hadn’t interacted much previously. The words, “You could very well win it all,” might have been uttered. Speaking of Simon, Mr. X has cooled down considerably since last Thursday’s live-TV fit, but he has yet to say one word to fellow judges Paula Abdul or Nicole Scherzinger after they axed contestant Drew Ryniewicz, one of his favorites. However, Simon said in an interview — slated to premiere on the live preshow around 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com — that he’s totally over it, respects his fellow judges for following their hearts, and has no ill will toward them. Meanwhile, his remaining singers — Melanie Amaro and Rachel Crow — told the press that Simon’s been way more open to their suggestions since the Drew drama went down. Something tells me we’ll see them stretch big time tonight. Another contestant tried something new during rehearsals: a guitar! Things didn’t work out at first. After a couple of run-throughs, the contestant’s mentor immediately nixed the strumming. But by Tuesday’s camera rehearsals, the guitar was back. Will the risk pay off? On the lot, I spied another mentor’s contestant having a deep chat inside Simon’s trailer. I tracked down Cowell later to see if he was feeding the competition some bad advice or playing mind games, but Simon insists his door is open for all the contestants if they’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed. The tea gets brewed, a pep talk is had, and all is right in the world again. I’ve had Simon’s famous ginger tea, by the way, and let me tell you: It could solve all of the world’s problems. It’s that good. The first sip stings, and then a sweetness takes over. It’s like Simon Cowell in a glass! I’m not allowed to reveal song choices, but I can tell you that one singer is performing an inescapable ballad from 2011 that might not be recognizable after the show’s retooling. All I can say is: Brian Friedman is employing tons of dancers for this particular number. (Ooh, I just spied choreographer Sonya Tayeh working with Brian too.) On the flipside, another contestant is re-imagining a recent uptempo radio hit as a ballad. In other words, expect lots of cool twists on your fave songs this week. Now if only the crew could find that elusive crafty table. Catch Jim on “The X Factor Pepsi Preshow Live,” streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com!
