This is certainly turning into an interesting week for Hot 97′s DJ Funkmaster Flex. Earlier yesterday morning, the following statement appeared on a blog to which Flex’s wife, Monica Joseph-Taylor, contributes heavily: After almost 18 years of friendship and marriage it is with great regret that I announce my husband Aston Taylor, also known as Funkmaster Flex, and I are separated. We have tremendous love and respect for each-other, and will continue to work on our professional projects together. Our top priority has and will always be our children! I personally ask that the press keep in mind Flex is the celebrity, not myself or my children, please respect our privacy. A link to the post, titled “Personal Statement” was even tweeted out to the less than 600 people who follow the site on which it appeared, MommysDirtyLittleSecret.com. However, as of press time, that post has been deleted. Was Monica Joseph-Taylor just the latest victim of hacking? Or is the above statement the official announcement of the end of her marriage to Flex? If so, the timing is certainly interesting, coming the morning after Flex had a little on air meltdown regarding Mr. Cee arrest scandal , minutes after Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy called Flex out on air over his threats… and a full two months after both Monica and Flex downplayed an argument that turned physical.

Chris Brown & Rihanna To Have Sit Down On ABC?

After Chris Brown’s explosive blowup at “Good Morning America” last week, it’s reported that ABC wants to book him in a sit down interview with none other than ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Wow. The network hopes that they will be able to pull this off since the restraining order Rihanna had against Chris was lifted a few months ago. According to Popeater.com , a source close to ABC News told E! that they wanted to “milk this event for everything that its worth.. it’s all about the ratings.” Another rumor is that the network is thinking about offering Chris a reality show even though E! shut that rumor down right at the source, saying “No, that would never happen.” What is more likely to happen according to sources close to the network is having Chris and Rihanna sit down and talk for the first time, on television. E! says that if ABC is able to pull this interview off, Robin Roberts (the same women who Chris sat down with during his Good Morning America interview before he went off in the dressing room), will be the woman orchestrating the television special. During the press rounds for The Ceremony , Uma Thurman dropped an update of sorts on that Quentin Tarantino Spaghetti Western that was reported last month. According to her, it’s actually not going to be a Western, but a “Southern.” No word yet about the spaghetti.

Courteney Cox: So Proud of David Arquette!

Courteney Cox has not gotten the memo. She’s a celebrity. She’s supposed to split from her husband and then make headlines by bashing him in the press. Date someone else right away. Maybe make a sex tape. Instead, Cox has said she has no plans for a social life and has continually defended her troubled ex, David Arquette. She did so again this week during an interview with Extra . Courteney Cox on David Arquette After spending time with the recently-rehabbed actor in Malibu last week, Cox was asked about his recovery. Said the Cougar Town star: “Oh my God, I’m so proud of him! Best he’s ever looked! He’s so cute that I’m like, dude, I don’t understand. Really?! Why are you that cute right now?” The former couple will appear together in Scream 4 , and it doesn’t sound as though promoting the film will be awkward in any way. “Our communication and the way we are, just learning about each other in a different way, it’s smart,” Courteney said. “It’s weird to be at this age and look at ourselves but it’s hard and it’s important and I’m glad we are, so I love him.”

Chris Brown’s publicist called it quits after the singer had a meltdown in his dressing room at ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which resulted in Brown smashing a window and leaving the studio with his shirt off. Sources tell the New York Post that the two decided to end their business relationship. Who could blame her for bailing? The public fallout to Brown’s latest faux pas, to put it lightly, certainly would be quite a lot for any publicist to handle. Even if you despise the films of Lars von Trier, the fact that he’s made a new film is still noteworthy, if only for the fact that it means we’ll be seeing more ridiculous quotes in the press from the self-proclaimed best film director in the world . Apologies to James Franco, but von Trier is still the king of turning press releases and interviews into deadpan performance art pieces. In his most recent interview, he teases a potential new project and imparts sage wisdom from his producer about how to keep films commercial.

Lindsay Lohan Turns Down Plea Deal In Jewelry Theft Case

By James Montgomery Lindsay Lohan Photo: David McNew/ Getty Images Lindsay Lohan will not accept a plea deal in her ongoing felony grand theft case, deciding instead to go to trial. That’s according to TMZ , who reported Tuesday that Lohan — charged in early February with felony grand theft after allegedly taking a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store — had met with her lawyer, Shawn Holley, and opted not to take a plea being offered by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. She will now proceed to trial before Judge Stephanie Sautner; a preliminary hearing in the case is set for April 22. Late last month, Lohan was told by Judge Keith Schwartz that had she accepted the DA’s deal — reportedly six months of jail time — she would have been found in violation of her probation and would serve time. “I don’t care that you’re Lindsay Lohan,” the judge added, bluntly. “One of the things about me is that I treat everybody the same,” Schwartz said at the time. “What I look to in sentencing is, ‘What is the prior record?’ In this particular case, there has been so much speculation in the press [that] I’m just going to tell you a couple of things: If you plead in front of me, you are going to jail. There might be an issue about the amount of time, but if the case settles here, you will be going to jail.” By going to trial, Lohan now faces both jail and prison time — jail if Judge Sautner decides she’s violated her probation, prison if she is convicted of grand theft — but the actress has long proclaimed her innocence on the theft charge, tweeting that she “was not raised to lie, cheat or steal” and saying in TV interviews that she “feels great.” In March, security-camera footage showing Lohan trying on jewelry and texting appeared on “Entertainment Tonight,” who had apparently purchased 45 minutes of tape from the jewelry store in question. Ja Rule Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion

By Gil Kaufman Ja Rule Photo: Mark Mainz/Getty Images Queens rapper Ja Rule pleaded guilty to tax evasion in federal court in New Jersey on Tuesday, admitting that he had failed to pay taxes on more than $4 million in income. According to the Associated Press , the platinum-selling MC (born Jeffrey Atkins) earned the money between 2004 and 2006 while he lived in an upscale northern New Jersey enclave. The plea deal included an agreement by prosecutors to dismiss two counts of unpaid taxes on income earned in 2007 and 2008. Rule, 35, will be sentenced on the three remaining tax evasion charges in June and faces up to one year in prison and $100,000 in fines on each count. Ja Rule pleaded guilty to attempted gun possession in December, stemming from a July 2007 arrest, but his prison sentencing was delayed earlier this month so he could get his finances in order. Lil Wayne, who Ja Rule performed with on that July night at the Cash Money star’s Beacon Theater show, was arrested on the same night and eventually served eight months in prison for the same offense. Rule is now slated to be sentenced on June 8 and has agreed to a two-year prison term in that case. At the time of the sentencing postponement, Rule’s lawyer said the delay would allow her client to resolve his tax issue and maybe work on his next musical project as well. “We want to finish the album, and there’s also a tax issue,” lawyer Stacey Richman said. “Somebody, an accountant, had filed an incorrect form, and this is to correct what was done in the past.” Related Artists Ja Rule
