While Jodie Foster the actress has a rich and varied resume — horror! science fiction! childrens’ adventure! whatever Flightplan was! — but as a director, she’s stuck to smaller, family-based dramas, including SXSW’ s sweetheart, The Beaver . But speaking to the Los Angles Times , Foster says she’s ready to direct a sci-fi thriller. Promising that it’ll have her usual Fosteresque “family element” as well as plenty of “genre moments,” Foster is still chewing over the details of the script with an unnamed writer. And of course, she still has to finishing shooting Roman Polanski’s Carnage as well as Neill Blomkamp’s District 9 follow-up, Elysium before she can turn her eyes sci-fi-ward. But let’s just hope that her next leading man isn’t also an unrepentant racist, anti-Semitic, wife-beating raging homophobe . It’ll make the press junket a lot simpler, I would think. [ LAT ]

The singer also got meat booties wrapped in butcher twine and a clutch with an antique brooch applied to the beef. Mr. Fernandez said the dress would not rot, but harden into “jerky.” Although the butcher suggested taxidermy, the designer said the dress would be immortalized in the “Gaga Archives.” The singer, who donned a meat bikini on the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan last week, told Ellen DeGeneres she meant “no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian,” insisting it was a human-rights statement of sorts. Ms. DeGeneres, a vegan, then presented Gaga with a kale bikini. Ingrid E. Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, was equally unimpressed. “What’s next: the family cat made into a hat?” she wrote in a statement Monday. Announcement regarding judges expected this week. By Jocelyn Vena Enrique Iglesias Photo: Kristian Dowling/ WireImage With names like Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger all still floating around as possible judges, multiple sources are confirming that music executive L.A. Reid will be one of the judges on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” when it premieres this fall. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that “it’s a done deal.” Simon Cowell told MTV News earlier this week that an announcement regarding the judges on the show would be made “within the week.” Reid will reportedly be let out of his contract with Universal Music early and may take a position with Sony Music, who will provide the show’s winner a recording contract in addition to the $5 million cash prize. Sources confirmed Reid’s departure to Billboard . In addition to the news that Reid is joining the show, there’s talk that Enrique Iglesias has been approached to host the reality singing competition, according to Deadline Hollywood . Iglesias reportedly was interested in becoming a judge rather than the host of the show, but with his own music career as red hot as ever, he may choose to stick with performing. A rep for the show had no comment regarding the rumors when contacted by MTV News. Reid’s involvement would make sense, given what Cowell shared with us regarding what he wants in the judges on the panel. “I’ve got to have people on the panel with me who can judge American talent because I’m 51 years old, I’m British and we’ve got people as young as 14 entering this competition. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, as the trade organization announced on Wednesday night that the pop star will be among its 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards winners, the Associated Press reports . Gaga will be presented with the style icon award at this year’s ceremony, which will take place on June 6 in New York City. CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg and executive director Steven Kolb made the announcement at the DVF Studio in the Big Apple, where all the nominations were made public for the event. Also set to be recognized at the CFDA Awards is designer Marc Jacobs, will who will receive the lifetime achievement award. According to von Furstenberg, Jacobs e-mailed her noting that he didn’t think he was old enough for the honor and that he wanted it renamed the “half-lifetime award.” She explained to the fashionistas in the room, “I told him that I’m much older than him and I’m still kicking.” In addition, Jacobs garnered a nomination for the womenswear designer of the year prize, as did Alexander Wang and the design duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler. The Olsen twins are also up for an award. They will be competing in the womenswear category for emerging talent for their collection The Row, going up against Prabal Gurung and Joseph Altuzarra. The International Award will go to Phoebe Philo, who designs for Celine and who gets a shout-out from Kanye West on “Dark Fantasy,” the lead cut from his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album. The shots were taken several years ago but hadn’t surfaced until now, and it seems that the starlet and her team are taking action. In a statement released to the press late Tuesday, her lawyer, Christopher Wong, noted that they are working with police to find the person who keeps leaking photos of the actress. “Vanessa is deeply upset and angered that these old photos, which were taken years ago, continue to resurface,” Wong said in a statement . “It is particularly disturbing that whoever got a hold of these private photos seems to be intent on illegally leaking them out over a long period of time.” The new photos are part of a set that was previously leaked. The new ones are certainly NSFW: They include Hudgens seen topless and kissing another girl, reportedly actress Alexa Nikolas, who is set to star in both “LOL” and “Red State.” This is the third time Hudgens has found herself in a photo scandal.
