WATCH: Spock And Uhura Steal A Kiss In Action-Packed ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Featurette

Come off the ledge, Trekkies!  I know it’s been a bad few days what with J.J. Abrams trading in your future sequel pleasure for a shot at the Star Wars franchise, but he has not forsaken you.  To the contrary, he wants you to know, via this eye-catching featurette that the action and the scale of Star Trek Into Darkness “is light years beyond what we did in the first movie,” and, if that ain’t enough, sparks are still flying between Spock and Uhura. Abrams and three of his primary cast members, Zachary Quinto ( Spock), Chris Pine (Kirk) and Zoe Saldana (Uhura) take turns telling you how special Star Trek Into Darkness will be.  Quinto calls it “stunningly beautiful,”  Pine says the movie is “relentless,” presumably in terms of its action and excitement levels and Saldana proclaims, “This is the kind of film that 3D was made for.”  And then — bam! — in the middle of a pretty relentless series of quick-cut action sequences, Spock and Uhura can be seen sucking face. Take that, Rebel scum. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter.  Follow Movieline on Twitter.

Maria Menounos in a Bikini for Men’s Fitness Magazine December of the Day

I don’t actually care about Maria Menounos…like she’s not on my radar in any fucking way…probably because none of these girls I write about really are…they don’t exactly exist to me after I forget seeing pics of them….or after I block out how annoying they are on TV….TV they sold their souls out to be on…. But I don’t mind when I am reminded of this curvy, fit, lovely greek girl who I have appreciated staring at her Probably unused vagina, cuz she’s greek, and greeks use assholes as their primary pussy, that she flashed us on the beach once ….especially when she’s modeling bikinis for Men’s Fitness…

At Long Last, Here’s Jake Gyllenhaal As A Hipster-Hunting Serial Killer

Jake Gyllenhaal has played along the edge of creepy ( Donnie Darko ) before, but he hasn’t gone full psycho — until now. After the jump, watch Jakey-poo put that dead-eyed visage to great use as a troubled, tightly coiled young man who kills his hipster pals and strangers alike until he finds just the right… dance club. Eh, it’s a music video for a band called The Shoes. I’ll allow it. The video, directed by Daniel Wolfe for the Shoes single “Time to Dance,” reminds me a lot of this year’s Sundance thriller Simon Killer ; both follow charismatic sociopaths as they stalk their prey, using stylistic flashes and tricks to evoke their character’s mental state. Warning: Some startling violence within. What do you think — who’s ready to see Gyllenhaal tackle characters like this in the movies? (*Raises hand*)

Report: Now It’s the Muppets’ Turn to ‘Rape’ Nirvana

An inevitable consequence of the ugly Kim Novak/ Artist soundtrack-rape saga had to be that other artists and actors would use the analogy to describe how, unauthorized, new legacies are built or enhanced using elements of their older ones. Right on cue, enter Courtney Love: “Courtney Love believes Kermit the Frog and his gang of Muppet friends ‘raped’ the memory of her ex-husband Kurt Cobain — by bastardizing Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ in their 2011 movie … without her permission. But there’s another side to this … We’re told Courtney sold off half of her rights to Kurt’s music to a company called Primary Wave Music. And there’s more … Courtney also gave Primary Wave the exclusive right to distribute Nirvana’s entire catalog.” Mm-hmm . Anyway, isn’t this stuff supposed to be limited to awards season? Better luck next year, Courtney. [ TMZ ]

Nicole Alvarez: Free Conrad Murray!

Dr. Conrad Murray’s girlfriend, Nicole Alvarez, is begging the court to let him out of jail pending his appeal, claiming he’s a “good father” to their toddler. Somehow we don’t see it happening. Nicole Alvarez , who testified during Murray’s involuntary manslaughter trial last fall, filed a declaration of support for Murray Thursday, in which she says if Murray is released, he will live with her and their two-year-old son in Santa Monica, Calif. It’s not the most powerful or emotional letter. Alvarez says, “Dr. Murray is the father of my child,” adding, he “has been our primary source of support.” Moving stuff right there. It’s unclear how much support Murray can provide now, considering his medical license has been revoked and he’s likely spent a fortune on legal fees. Murray’s hearing for bail pending appeal of his conviction is scheduled for Friday in L.A. The D.A. opposes bail, saying Murray is a danger to society . Should be open and shut: No bail.

Mitt Romney Florida Supporters Feel The Momentum

‘I just really want to see some hope restored in America,’ one voter tells MTV News a day before Florida primary. By Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney greets supporters in Jacksonville Photo: Joe Raedle/ Getty Images JACKSONVILLE, Florida — One skipped school to be there, another took time out from her college courses and working at her two jobs to drop in, and both liked what they heard from Mitt Romney on Monday (January 30). One day before the primary in the pivotal swing state of Florida , which could finally cement his status as the leader of the pack in the Republican presidential nominating contest , a pumped-up Romney took the stage at a Caterpillar equipment dealership to speak to an enthusiastic crowd. His message of “real hope and change” resonated with Amy Gallogly, 23, a community college student who works at a tax service and an alarm company in the area. “I just really want to see some hope restored in American,” she said after the event wrapped as Romney shook hands and signed autographs while Kid Rock’s “Born Free” blasted from the speakers. “I’m just really pushing for any Republican candidate. … The one reason I really am pushing for Mitt Romney [though] is because I think he’s the one candidate who can beat Obama .” High school senior Tori Reiman, 18, came with her mom, who works in the real-estate business in the state with the nation’s highest foreclosure rate. “I’m kind of over Obama,” she said. “He’s not doing his job. He’s raising the taxes on the richer side of American, which I don’t believe is fair.” Asked why she came out to the event, Reiman said, “I believe in Mitt Romney and I believe in America.” Law student Eric Bast, 24, definitely picked up on Romney’s message of change, saying that he’s energized to participate in his first election. “I want to change it back,” said Bast, who recently registered to vote . Dance Moms ‘Not Very Grateful,’ Abby Lee Miller Says

‘You would think that the mothers would see things a little clearer now,’ outspoken instructor tells MTV News about Tuesday’s season-two premiere. By Jim Cantiello Abby Lee Miller of “Dance Moms” Photo: MTV News Abby Lee Miller is just as eager to see the second-season premiere of “Dance Moms” as the rest of us. Although she’s the star of Lifetime’s runaway reality hit about a tough-love dance instructor and the meddling moms that get in her way, she doesn’t see the show ahead of time. “I see [the episodes] when you see them,” Miller told MTV News. “People are asking me questions about future episodes, and I’m just like, ‘I don’t remember what happened. Sorry!’ ” But once the titular dance moms are brought up in conversation, Miller has no problem recalling her ongoing drama with the cast. (Buckle up, readers. She’s got a lot to say about everyone!) “They’re just not very grateful,” Miller whispered. “You would think that the mothers would see things a little clearer now, now that they’re on a television show and now that they do have fans, that they [wouldn’t] be a little more respectful of me. I just think that they don’t want to recognize the fact [that] if it wasn’t for Abby Lee Miller and the Abby Lee Dance Company and having their children enrolled in my studio that they would be on a show,” Miller said. A lot of the drama in season two — premiering Tuesday night (January 10) at 9 p.m. — stems from the inflated egos of the newly famous cast. “[Dance mom Kristi] went behind everyone’s back and hired a publicist,” Miller sighed. “Kristi has this bizarre twisted imagination that they would have just picked [daughter] Chloe up in any dance studio in the Pittsburgh area. How would that have happened? That’s not the way that it came to be.” Still, even with the spotlight brighter than ever, the lady in charge insists that nobody “turns it on” for the camera. “I think why the show always works is there’s that underlying original story or characters, if you will, that had these original problems before Lifetime, before [production company] Collins Avenue, before [producer/creator] John Corella and I ever put this together and he ran with it and made this all happen,” Miller said. “Those things like grown adult mothers being jealous of [child dancer] Maddie — that’s still there.” One of Abby Lee Miller’s biggest pet peeves is the “favoritism” accusation thrown her way in regards to Maddie, the award-winning dancer often perched on top of Miller’s achievement pyramid over classmates Chloe and Paige. “Bull!” Miller screamed. “[Maddie]’s paying for one-on-one lessons. At registration in August, guess who wasn’t there [to sign up for one-on-one lessons]? I don’t know if I’m allowed to say,” Miller trailed off, hinting at future season-two plot-points. “These moms, this is their first child that they’ve had involved in this. This is my 3,000th child I’ve had involved in this. So I’ve done this all before. I can take you back 30 years and give you two names just like Maddie and Chloe. Another five years? Another two kids. Another five years? Another two kids. There’s always two kids in that studio that are vying for the top spot. There’s all those other kids who are in the group [too]. Some of those [other] kids are on Broadway right now. It’s not always the one who was really good and winning everything when they were little that ends up with a career. Bodies change, interests change, passion changes. You never know. I mean, look at Paige; she’s stunning. She’s a beautiful child. When she’s 18, it’s all going to come together. She’s gonna fill out, she’s still gonna be beautiful. The dancing’s gonna click. You don’t need to do the steps that Maddie’s doing to be in a Broadway show or to be a Rockette.” Another hot topic is Holly’s inability to see her daughter Nia perform at a dance competition due to a work commitment. It’s a fight that kicks off season two and it still remains a contentious issue, long after the second season wrapped taping. “[Holly]’s a principal of a school. She’s a hotshot. Leave early! Come on! She just got in trouble two days ago for me. Didn’t show up again at a competition, and it was a Saturday. Now what? And her husband’s a really good-looking, nice guy with a big job. Hire an assistant! Do whatever you have to do!” But nobody gets Abby Lee Miller’s blood boiling quite like Cathy Nesbitt-Stein, rival dance coach at Candy Apple’s Dance Center in Ohio. Miller accused Cathy of stealing a bumblebee costume Miller leant to her daughter. “I think they’re stealing a lot of things,” Miller joked, referencing a tricked-out video-screen pyramid PowerPoint that fans will see Cathy use at Candy Apple’s in the season-two premiere. “I went to the [Apple store] in Pittsburgh and I said, ‘I want this and I wanna throw [the girls’ pictures onscreen] like “CSI.” ‘ And then I told my producers at Collins Avenue, ‘I need this! This is the way it has to be.’ And then they stole that idea and gave it to [Cathy]. You can’t trust anybody in this business,” Miller said. Watch Abby Lee Miller be “always right” and never get the respect she deserves when the drama-filled second season of “Dance Moms” premieres Tuesday night at 9 on Lifetime.
