Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton covers the latest issue of Scouting, a U.K. magazine dedicated to promoting … scouting. And specifically volunteer work! The 30-year-old is now the February/March cover girl on the publication, a fitting choice after she performed some private volunteer work with the scouts. “Part of her role as volunteer is to help below the radar,” says a source of Kate’s work with girl and boy scouts and their younger counterparts, the Beavers. The scouts hope the duchess will help Kate Middleton run a variety of activities relevant to her skills and interests, and she’s likely to be popping into some groups’ regular meetings near her home on Anglesey, North Wales, and elsewhere. Inside the magazine, adventurer-broadcaster Bear Grylls pays tribute to Kate: “It is how we change our society, many people doing a little bit,” he says. The scouts are one of five charities she chose to patronize in her royal role. Kate is set to start officially touring some of them next month. She and husband Prince William are due back from vacation in Mustique soon. William then heads to the Falkland Islands for military duty next month.

There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill. My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan. At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out. [But] I don’t need anyone telling me ‘this isn’t cool enough’ or anyone from the opposite end saying ‘this seems kind of weird.’ I’m lucky enough to have been in this business for so long that I know how it works. It’s not that hard. It’s not rocket science. On her new domestic role: Now being in a stable situation, sometimes that feels f**ked up within itself. I’ve been on the road my entire life since I was 13, even when I had my son he came on the road with me. As she strolled to and from church services Sunday, Kate Middleton’s Christmas fashion turned heads as expected – but not just for her magenta hat and coat. Adding some holiday sparkle to her already fashionable display was a pair of stunning earrings just visible underneath the Duchess’ (Jane Corbett designed) hat. They are from Kiki McDonough, and were bought from the designer’s store in London, England. Retail price: $3,000. A Christmas gift from Prince William, perhaps? The designer, who also made jewelry for Prince William’s mother Diana, Princess of Wales, didn’t want to comment at length but confirmed the pieces are hers – and that the stones consist of “green amethysts surrounded by diamonds on a diamond hoop.” It’s not the first time Kate has worn McDonough’s jewelry, either. She has two other pairs of earrings from the store: pear shaped citrines hanging from an 18-carat gold hoops and white topaz studs surrounded by diamonds. Pippa Middleton will be joining the British Royal Family for the holidays. You know what that means … let the rumors of her hooking up with Prince Harry begin! For the first time in their lives, Pippa and Kate Middleton will be spending Christmas away from their parents. For newly-married Kate, that was almost a given. Pippa was invited to spend the holidays with the royals not because she’s a major cutie (even though she is) but so her sister could also have family around. Prince Harry will also be present, of course, so … On the day after Christmas, Boxing Day, Pippa and Kate will join William, Harry and the rest of the royals for the family’s annual pheasant shoot in the country. This is a pretty big deal as, traditionally, this is reserved only for members of the royal family and their significant others. But this is one gorgeous exception. Pippa’s presence is via the urging of William, who wants to make Kate’s first holiday with her in-laws more comfortable. Not that Prince Harry ‘s complaining. Yes, we know nothing’s going on with the two, but they’re both single now, and she’s going to be seeing the younger prince in hunting attire. Game over. Those two are definitely going to hook up. Or at least they should. Right?
A former NYU professor claims he got fired because he’s Hispanic and dared give James Franco, Hollywood celebrity, a D in a class, according to a new lawsuit. Jose Angel Santana, who taught Franco in his “Directing the Actor” class, is now suing the University for his job back, claiming he was wrongfully terminated. According to the lawsuit, Santana dropped a D on Franco for missing 12 of the 14 classes during the MFA course. Not shocking, given his academic track record: However, when peeps found out, Santana claims he suffered all sorts of public humiliation at the hands of Franco and the school itself, which canned him. Something he claims would never have happened to a white professor. According to Santana, other faculty played favorites for Franco, including fellow professor Jay Anania, who Franco hired to write and direct Shadows & Lies . Santana says , “In my opinion, they’ve turned the NYU graduate film degree into swag for James Franco’s purposes, a possession, something you can buy.” “The university has done everything in its power to curry favor.” Okay … can we just talk about the pic again? Kevin Federline is nothing short of stoked for Britney Spears. The pop star just got engaged to Jason Trawick last week, and her ex-husband, with whom she has two adorable young sons, says he could not be happier. “I’m really happy for her – I think he’s a great guy,” the Fed-Ex man tells Australia’s TV Week. “She’s happy; she’s doing really well.
