‘Glee’ Star Darren Criss ‘Dreams’ Of Meeting Daniel Radcliffe

Criss will take over for the ‘Harry Potter’ star in Broadway’s ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.’ By Terri Schwartz, with reporting by Kara Warner Darren Criss Photo: Joe Scarnici/ Getty Images “Glee” castmember Darren Criss is taking his show-choir skills to Broadway, replacing Daniel Radcliffe in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” The actor will have a three-week gig starting January 3 when the “Harry Potter” star departs the production, the Al Hirschfeld Theatre confirmed to Entertainment Weekly. Rumors have been swirling for weeks now that the spot would go to Criss, who has never before appeared on Broadway. But as recently as last week, the job was still up in the air. “Right now, honestly, I’m just trying to get my head screwed back on,” he told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con. “I’ve been traveling around a lot, and who knows what the future holds? But if that’s something, who knows, that’d be great.” Criss first made a name for himself with “A Very Potter Musical,” which he created with his production company, Team StarKid. In it, Criss plays Harry Potter, and even though he made an appearance at the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” NYC premiere last year, he has never met the man behind the Boy Who Lived. “The fake Harry Potter has not met the real Harry Potter,” Criss revealed at Comic-Con. “Only in my dreams, and that’s probably as close as I’ll ever get.” Those dreams might come true now that Criss will need to begin preparing for his stint in “How to Succeed.” There will likely be some sort of torch-passing moment from Radcliffe to Criss, and maybe even a resurgence in fans’ hope to see the two Harry Potters perform together at some point. “If they saw Dan and I do a number, I think ears would bleed,” Criss said at the “Deathly Hallows, Part 1” premiere.

Rihanna Working On Her Sixth Album

Ri Ri stays on her grind! Less than a year after releasing “Loud,” Rihanna is close to finishing her sixth studio album! Check out what our very own Verse Simmons (who is part of the production duo responsible for Rihanna’s track “Man Down”) had to say about her new project! Rihanna has already started work on her next album. The ‘Umbrella’ singer is already “closing up” recording on her sixth album according to Verse Simmonds, part of production duo The Jugganauts, who worked on her track ‘Man Down’, from her last alum ‘Loud’. He told MTV: “From what I understand, she is closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved and I’m really excited about them as well. They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.” He added the track will have a different sound to ‘Man Down’, and that they are always trying to better themselves creatively. Verse said: “It’ll definitely not sound the same, because we always try, constantly – as producers, as artists – we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound.” It was rumoured earlier this year Rihanna was to work with Beyonce Knowles on a track, which could be included on her next album. A source said: “Rihanna has wanted to work with Beyonce for some time now and, after talking about a duet at this year’s Grammys, they have finally managed to set aside some time to record together.” SOURCE

Rihanna’s ‘Man Down’ Producers Tease Her Next Album

‘We did two records for her that she really, really loved,’ the Jugganauts producer Verse Simmonds tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Verse Simmonds Photo: MTV News Behind the Beats: Verse Simmonds After finding success crafting the music for Rihanna’s “Man Down,” the production duo known as the Jugganauts — Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph and Verse Simmonds — are looking to recapture the magic on the Bajan beauty’s upcoming sixth album. “From what I understand, she is closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved and I’m really excited about them as well,” Simmonds told Mixtape Daily. “They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts.” Simmonds is hoping that he and partner Sak Pase land another track on Rihanna’s album. And while he couldn’t confirm the Jugganauts’ contributions will make the final cut, he said was “99.999 percent” certain for now. For those wondering whether the singer’s new tunes will sound anything like the reggae-infused “Man Down,” Simmonds says no. “Nah, definitely not, because we always try to constantly — as producers, as artists — we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound,” he said without elaborating on what that new record would sound like. As far as his chemistry with Sak Pase, with whom he did production work on Jay-Z and Kanye West’s upcoming Watch the Throne album , the two seem to have a pretty organic working relationship. “In the studio, it can go one of two ways: Most times I’m writing and he’s creating the track, and we produce a lot of records like that,” Verse said. “Sometimes it’ll flip; he’ll be writing and I’ll be producing the track so it depends on the vibe, and who comes in there first, who’s got an idea or concept.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Jay-Z, Kanye West Try Dubstep On Watch The Throne

Producer Verse Simmonds opens up to MTV News about WTT track ‘Who Gon Stop Me.’ By Rob Markman Kanye West and Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s collaborative Watch the Throne LP is shaping up to be the year’s most anticipated release. So far, fans have heard the Southern-fried, Lex Luger-produced “H.A.M.” and the soul-drenched “Otis,” which premiered Wednesday night on New York radio. While the two records both feature hard-nosed lyrics from Hov and ‘Ye, their sounds couldn’t be more different. Well, the sonic versatility doesn’t stop there. Singer/songwriter Verse Simmonds revealed to MTV News that the multiplatinum rap tandem will also be experimenting with dubstep on the new album. After getting a call from Bu Thiam, Def Jam’s VP of A&R, to submit tracks for WTT, Simmonds and his production partner, Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph, immediately went to work. “What we did is, we locked in a week, we just went crazy on everything Jay and Kanye,” Simmonds told MTV News. “I remember telling Sham, I was like, ‘Yo, I think this dubstep stuff is going to be the next new flavor that everybody gotta be on. It gotta have a hip-hop feel to it still.’ ” The result is “Who Gon Stop Me,” a track that, according to the “Buy You a Round” singer, is influenced by the U.K. style of electronic dance music. Together, Verse and Sak Pase make up the Jugganauts, and for “Who Gon Stop Me,” Joseph made the beat and Simmonds wrote and referenced the chorus. “We started creating the track, and it just started to come crazy, so we came up with the concept,” Simmonds said before reciting a loose rendition of the song’s lyrics. “It was like, ‘Who gon stop me, huh? Black cards, Black cars, whole lot of money.’ ” To pen the hook on the track, Verse said he first imagined himself in Jigga and Yeezy’s shoes. “When I recorded it, everybody was like, ‘Yo, you sound just like Kanye, you sound just like Jay-Z,’ ” he remembered. “It’s just crazy, because I felt like, at that moment in time, I was them. I got into that mode of: ‘What would these guys say? How would they say it?’ I think they heard it the first time and loved it.” Hopefully, the fans will too. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Matt Elias Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage For Game , the fourth time’s the charm. The former G-Unit rapper has high hopes for album #4, The R.E.D. Album, which is set to be released August 23. While a Game album is notable in its own right, the Compton, California, MC is particularly excited now that he has reunited with mentor Dr. Dre and snagged Pharrell to help oversee the production as well. “This album is the most incredible album of my career,” Game said to MTV News from the set of his “Pot of Gold” video shoot last week. “First, I’m back with Dr. Dre, which is a bonus and dope for me. Second, executive-produced by Pharrell, co-executive-produced by myself and Mars.” There is also production from Cool & Dre, Hit-Boy, Maestro and Lex Luger and features ranging from Nelly Furtado to Lil Wayne to Busta Rhymes. “And Dre’s rapping on the album,” Game revealed. Dre, who oversaw Game’s debut, The Documentary, has played a limited role in the rapper’s career since Game’s fallout with 50 Cent, who is also signed to Dre’s Aftermath imprint. Since then, the West Coast production icon hasn’t lent beats or his vocals to any of Game’s subsequent albums. In 2009, studio pictures of Dr. Dre, Game and Snoop surfaced, proving that the two were back to work in some capacity. Game wouldn’t confirm whether Dre provided a full verse or a hook. When asked, he just blurted out the album’s release date: “August 29.” What are you expecting from a new Game/Dre collabo? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists The Game Dr. Dre
