After Rodney Jerkins discusses ‘out-of-the-box’ track, a rep for Barker confirms collabo to MTV News. By James Montgomery Britney Spears Photo: Courtesy of Zomba Records In a recent interview with MTV News, producer Rodney Jerkins said that, on her upcoming Femme Fatale album, Britney Spears got “hands-on,” supplying him with “a lot of ideas” and helping shape the energetic sound of the project. “She’s great. She gets it,” Jerkins said. “She is a top-notch veteran pro at this now.” So it should probably come as no surprise that, somewhere along the line, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker came to be involved in recording the album — because, while we’re not sure if bringing him onboard was Britney’s idea, he is most certainly the kind who can bring the energy. And, as Jerkins said in a recent sit-down with Headline News’ “Showbiz Tonight,” the experience of working with Spears and Barker was a new one for everyone involved. “I’m really excited. … I did two songs on her album, and one of the songs I did, I brought in Travis Barker, and it’s got this rock feel which is out of the box, out of my norm, and I think it’s out of her norm as well,” Jerkins said. “We had a great time making this record.” Jerkins didn’t elaborate on much else about the Barker song or Britney’s album, saying only that the project is “classic Britney spears, uptempo heavy, of course. It’s new and different.” A spokesperson for Barker confirmed to MTV News that the collaboration happened “about a month ago” but, much like Jerkins, wouldn’t reveal any additional details of the song. Spears’ Femme Fatale is due March 29. What do you think of Britney Spears’ new music? Let us know in the comments! ‘I haven’t been hired for anything so I may hire myself to write some music,’ says ‘The Social Network’ star. By James Dinh Justin Timberlake Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images Time and time again, Justin Timberlake , busy with acting, has said that he wasn’t ready to return to the world of music . But with no forthcoming film gigs on his plate, it appears that the multi-talent is finally ready to make some new tunes. “I think I may spend some time in the studio this summer,” the 30-year-old singer/actor told E! Online ‘s Marc Malkin at this year’s Academy Awards. As for why 2011 is the year to return to his musical roots, J.T. explained that it’s all a matter of scheduling as he hasn’t signed on to any other project. “I’m unemployed right now,” he admitted. “I haven’t been hired for anything so I may hire myself to write some music. … It’s right around the corner.” While Timberlake hasn’t put out a solo album since 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, the pop star has collaborated with a range of other artists, including Madonna, Rihanna and Ciara, on their material. In November, Drake also teased a possible collaboration with the pop megastar, saying, “I’ve always wanted to work with him and it’s in the works right now; me and Justin Timberlake will probably have a song soon.” Just a few months ago, Timberlake opened up about his fans’ response to his shifting career trajectory. “They’re looking at me like, ‘Why aren’t you staying with one path?’ ” he told the Los Angeles Times. “They look at me like I’m ungrateful for my music career because I want to do film.” The pop star explained that he wanted to hold off on recording new music to develop his ideas. “I want to conceptualize something a little bit more,” he said. “And it’s probably because of the experience I’m having working with directors and screenwriters and getting to play cool characters. If that means I come up with, like, my version of ‘Ziggy Stardust,’ so be it. Who knows? What I’ve learned from acting in movies, I want to apply to music and see what happens.” Who should J.T. collaborate with on his new album? Share your suggestions below! ‘All the features are mine, just really big,’ actor says of new look Hulk. By Shawn Adler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Mark Ruffalo Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Mark Ruffalo will soon join Edward Norton and Eric Bana as the third actor to portray Dr. Bruce Banner in as many big-screen adventures, but when the Incredible Hulk finally lines up next to Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the rest of Marvel’s mightiest to take on evils no single one of them can handle on their own, it won’t just be the good doctor you’ll have trouble recognizing: It might be the jade giant himself. “The Avengers” will diverge from previous versions of the character and feature its own re-designed rendering of the green behemoth to more accurately reflect the new actor playing him, Ruffalo revealed to MTV News on the red carpet at the Independent Spirit Awards. Ruffalo said the character’s designers are working hard to make the Hulk look like him: “All the features are mine, just really big. I got to see the maquette of the Hulk yesterday in full scope, and it’s awesome.” The re-design makes the most of new technology being utilized for the flick, with Ruffalo donning performance-capture suits akin to the ones used by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana for “Avatar.” According to the Oscar-nominated actor, it’ll be the first time the same actor has played both incarnations of the character. “I’ll be playing it. I’m the first actor to actually do it in motion capture as the Hulk,” he said. Back when the project was initially announced, rumors swirled that the Hulk might actually start out as the villain, tricked perhaps by Loki, as he did when the Avengers first assembled in comics. While predictably tight-lipped about his role in the plot, Ruffalo did compliment the script, insisting that the film was right “in [director] Joss Whedon’s wheelhouse.” “It’s cool. It’s gonna be great,” he enthused. “The script is a nice combination of funny with pathos.” Check out everything we’ve got on For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com . I’ve been trying to have sex with Melissa Molinaro for a long time. She never answers my calls or my emails when I demand she flies me to wherever she’s at, which is pretty expected because I am creepy, but that doesn’t mean that our love isn’t pure or real…as far as I’m concerned…there is no love this pure…mainly because one-sided love is all I know… That said, I first started touching myself to this amazing creature when she was on Pussycat Dolls Search for the Next Doll TV Show….that I watched religiously, cuz I like seeing young girls dance….especially her….I didn’t watch her on Making the Band cuz Aurbey O’Day and Diddy fucking made me feel uncomfortable…….. Now I’m touching myself to her cuz she’s hitting the news cuz Kim Kardashian is complimenting herself by saying she is suing Old Navy for using an impersonator to represent Kim Kardashian in their latest campaign called “Cute”….when clearly if Kim Kardashian looked this good, she would have made 250,000,000 dollars instead of the 65,000,000 she came home with….you know cuz fat girls never get as much love as skinny girls….and I guess the good news in all this is that she’s gonna make my woman a fucking star she deserves to be….thanks Kim Kardashian for being fucking uselful for a change. I asked Melissa….. Are you traumatized by Kim Kardashian’s recent attack against you via Old Navy, because she knows you are hotter than her? This is what she said: DSF I don’t know that I would use the word “traumatized” to explain my reaction to the news regarding the Old Navy commercial. I am grateful to have worked with Old Navy on this project and while I don’t personally think I look like Kim others obviously do. She is a beautiful woman in her own right and I will take the comparison as a compliment…as well as your quote! I hope Melissa sues Kim Kardashian back for the defamation, cuz being compared to Kim Kardashian, despite Melissa’s typical girl answer, is in fact insulting…. Melissa, I love you. Kim Kardashian, you gotta relax on the lawsuits you fucking pig of a human, go role around in your money like it was shit and you were at the barn you belong in, you urinal to black men everywhere cunt.
So I’m in the middle of this project about James Franco and Twitter, a tech-culture marriage proving increasingly curious by the hour. And the next thing I know, there’s the man himself, dancing with his Oscar co-host Anne Hathaway in what one can only presume is a tribute to Grease set to be performed at the Academy Awards.
