The Real Housewives of Miami Recap: Alexia’s Ambush

On The Real Housewives of Miami “Elsa Foretells a Storm” but can she foresee an ambush. We recap all the malicious gossip and rocky relationships in our THG +/- review. As the girls prepare for their trip to Bimini, Elsa tells her daughter she foresees trouble ahead. Plus 13 but I really don’t think you need psychic powers to realize the odds are against these women holding hands and singing Kumbaya at the end of their trip. It’s amazing Elsa can even speak with her teeth chattering. Apparently Marysol tries to preserve her youth by sleeping in a deep freeze. Minus 20 . Elsa’s actually wearing a fur coat. How cold is it in there and why does someone in Miami even own a fur? James pays a visit to Lea bringing some supposedly fabulous hats.  Really? More like hideous. Minus 10 . Lea swears to her friend that she’ll make sure Marysol sees the light about her evil ways by the end of the trip. Oye. Minus 12. James and Marysol don’t like one another. Can’t we let this go already? Joanna’s using the trip to rethink her relationship with Romain. Plus 10 . I’ve grown to like Romain but it’s been five years. These two need to decide if they’re moving forward or moving on. The plane is ready for takeoff but Adriana isn’t. She brings five bags worth of hats, shoes, outfits, and makeup but forgets her passport. Minus 15 . She’ll just have to catch up later. On Bimini Bay, the guide tells the ladies that this is where sharks are born.  Ha!  The poor creatures have nothing on this group. When it comes to picking bedrooms, Lisa turns into the diva who won’t accept anything less than the master suite. Minus 10 since Joanna’s the one who put this trip together. In a surprising turn of events, Lea happily takes the twin beds that look like boats. Plus 12. Of course no Housewives trip can ever run smooth and Alexia’s hiding the proverbial knife to stick in Karent’s back.  She found an article that claims Rodolfo is fooling around with his costar, complete with pictures of them making out.   Minus 22 because despite her feigned worry about Karent you can tell she’s completely enjoying this. Honestly, I can’t stand Rodolfo. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he is cheating on Karent but why is everyone taking some gossip rag’s article as gospel? Minus 15. Alexia proves once again how mean spirited and manipulative she can be as she toys with Karent all through dinner, asking who’s been cheated on in the past and whether or not they’d want to know.  Then she makes sure everyone else knows the news before springing it on an unsuspecting Karent in front of the group.  Minus 25 . So much for a peaceful trip for the ladies. We’ll have to wait until next week but my psychic abilities are telling me it will only get worse. Episode total = -94!                    Season total = -395!

Ghostbusters 3 Is ‘Closer Than Ever’

Ghostbuster fans have waited for what seems like an eternity for a follow-up, but the spooky adventure comedy is on track for a third apparition 23 years after Ghostbusters II hit the big screen. Speaking with Esquire , Dan Aykroyd said that he and director Ivan Reitman are “closer than we ever have been” to getting the project underway, he noted via Yahoo U.K. One obstacle though is that Ghostbusters I & II star Bill Murray may be a no-show, though Aykroyd and Reitman are holding out that he may just come on board in the end. “I’m not sure Billy [has to sign on] anymore, since he abrogated his rights by sort of saying, two years ago, ‘I don’t want to be involved,'” Aykroyd said according to Yahoo Movies U.K. “The picture company I think had some clause in there that if he actually passed on the third of fourth offer, he no longer has a view of the franchise.” But a Ghostbusters III sans Murray will not be a mortal wound should the likely re-do go ahead. The creative team, he notes, will even leave a space should all work out in the end. “We have to move on, but we’ll always leave a hole for him. He’s always there. He can always come back at any time and be rebuilt into it, as far as I’m concerned. That’s up to his lawyer and the picture company to work out, but creatively, he will always be a part of it.” Continuing Aykroyd added: “If it does not happen, the life of Dan Aykroyd and his family and friends will be quite full without Ghostbusters 3 .” [Source: Yahoo U.K. ]

Bret Easton Ellis Is The Patrick Bateman Of Film Criticism

If American Psycho ‘s Patrick Bateman were a film critic, he’d be Bret Easton Ellis. When he’s not promoting his film The Canyons    — directed by Paul Schrader and starring Lindsay Lohan — on Twitter, Ellis has been blowing shotgun-sized holes in some of the awards season’s biggest films.  The Less Than Zero author contends that  Zero Dark Thirty  director Kathryn Bigelow is “really overrated,” and Les Misérables   makes him miserable. (According to him, it’s an “incomprehensible mess.” )    Life of Pi   fares better, though Ellis would like to see that film’s young star Suraj Sharma get into porn.  Oh yeah, and he also claims that the Academy “hates” The Dark Knight Rises . Below, a sampling of Ellis’ critical stylings, not necessarily in chronological order: Zero Dark Thirty: Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting filmmaker if she was a man but since she's a very hot woman she's really overrated.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 06, 2012 Kathryn Bigelow: Strange Days, K-19 The Widowmaker, Blue Steel, The Hurt Locker. Are we talking about visionary filmmaking or just OK junk?— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 06, 2012 Silver Linings Playbook: “Zero Dark Thirty” might win critics awards but “Silver Linings Playbook” will win the Best Picture Oscar. This is how it always happens…— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 06, 2012 Les Misérables: The film version of “Les Miserables” is so bad that it made me rethink why I ever loved the stage version. 2 hours and 40 minutes of tacky.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 05, 2012 The one actor surviving the incomprehensible mess “Les Miserables” is Eddie Redmayne, who should get an award for avoiding humiliation…— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 05, 2012 Tom Hooper blows just about every song in “Les Miserables” including “On My Own” which I didn't think possible no matter who directed it…— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 05, 2012 Oh yeah and I forgot: “Les Miserables” opens on Christmas Day and (spoiler alert!) just about everyone in it dies. Merry fucking Christmas.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 05, 2012 Life of Pi: Life of Pi is the movie I've thought about the most in 2012. As a writer I can't reconcile with its disturbing reveal: illusion vs. reality?— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 04, 2012 Suraj Sharma gives an amazing and incredibly moving performance in “Life of Pi” and seriously needs to do some porn. Misspelling: my fault.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 04, 2012 Killing Them Softly Based on the terrific source material “Killing Them Softly” doesn't work at all, but the actor Scoot McNairy is now officially on the radar.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 04, 2012 “Killing Them Softly” starring Brad Pitt is one of only eight films in Cinemascore's history to receive an “F” grade but…”Troy” didn't?!?— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 04, 2012 How the Academy will vote: The Academy is going to go for Silver Linings Playbook and not Lincoln.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 03, 2012 The Academy hates The Dark Knight Rises because I sat in that theater that night and listened to the banter in the lobby afterwards.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 03, 2012 There's not a chance in hell that Ang Lee will win best director. That will be a fight between Ben Affleck and David O. Russell. Haneke? No.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 03, 2012 I’m not sure if Ellis’ most recent tweet is a reaction to reaction to his withering perspective, but, as you might expect, he’s unrepentant: Anyone Unfollowing me should have known better and never Followed me in the first place. Wise up: pussies and snowflakes. Get the F over it.— Bret Easton Ellis (@BretEastonEllis) December 06, 2012 Watch your back, Sandy Kenyon. Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Florida Crazies: Angry Slizzard Chick Popped For Attacking Her Man Because He Climaxed Before Her!!

We all know how frustrating this situation can be but that doesn’t mean you try to claw your man’s eyes out for that isht!! According to Gawker , this was Raquel Gonzalez’s tipping point: Deputies in Manatee County, Florida, were called to a private residence in Bradenton yesterday to intervene in a domestic dispute resulting from a case of premature climaxing. According to a report filed by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Esric Davis and his live-in girlfriend, 24-year-old Raquel Gonzalez, were engaged in intercourse when “[Davis] climaxed and Raquel did not.” The imbalance reportedly set Gonzales off, and she “began hitting and scratching [Davis], causing scratches near his eye and nose.” Deputies say Gonzalez admitted she “lost it,” but was otherwise “belligerent and uncooperative.” She was arrested and booked into Manatee County lockup on a charge of domestic battery. Davis noted that this behavior was not out of the ordinary for Gonzales who frequently “goes off” on him. Alcohol was listed in the report as a possible contributing factor. Cotdayum…he must fail a lot! Or is she just cray?? Images via tumblr

Lawsuits: Four Gay Men Are Suing Ex-Therapists Who Promised To Help ‘Turn Them Straight’!!

It was worth a shot , wasn’t it?!?! A group of men are taking therapists to court for deceiving them after the promise to help them ‘overcome unwanted attractions’ failed…SMH. According to The New York Times , In New Jersey on Tuesday, four gay men who tried the therapy filed a civil suit against a prominent counseling group, charging it with deceptive practices under the state’s Consumer Fraud Act. The former clients said they were emotionally scarred by false promises of inner transformation and humiliating techniques that included stripping naked in front of the counselor and beating effigies of their mothers. They paid thousands of dollars in fees over time, they said, only to be told that the lack of change in their feelings was their own fault. Since the 1970s, when mainstream mental health associations stopped branding homosexuality as a disorder, a small network of renegade therapists, conservative religious leaders, and self-identified “life coaches” have continued to argue that it is not inborn, but an aberration rooted in childhood trauma. Homosexuality is caused, these therapists say, by a stifling of normal masculine development, often by distant fathers and overbearing mothers, or by early physical abuse. But leading scientific and medical groups say that the theories of homosexuality are unfounded and that there is no evidence that core inner-urges can be changed. They also warn that the therapy can, in the words of the American Psychiatric Association, cause “depression, anxiety, and self-destructive behavior” and “reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient.” One former patient in the suit, Michael Ferguson, 30, who is now a doctoral candidate in neuroscience at the University of Utah, sought help from Jonah in 2008. He tried to battle his homosexuality, he said, when he was a practicing Mormon who believed that only those in a heterosexual marriage could achieve eternal bliss. “It becomes fraudulent, even cruel,” he said in an interview. “To say that if you really want to change you could — that’s an awful thing to tell somebody.” “I was encouraged to develop anger and rage toward my parents,” he added. “The notion that your parents caused this is a horrible lie. They ask you to blame your mother for being loving and wonderful.” Another former patient in the suit, Chaim Levin, 23, grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn where, he said, being gay seemed unthinkable. Referred to Jonah by a rabbi when he was 18, Mr. Levin began attending weekend retreats at $650 each. For a year and a half, he had weekly private sessions with Mr. Downing as well as weekly group sessions. He quit, he said, after Mr. Downing had him remove his clothes and touch himself, saying it would help him reconnect with his masculinity. Mr. Levin said that he was abused by a relative between the ages of 6 and 10 and that Mr. Goldberg and Mr. Downing blamed the abuse for his homosexual attractions. “Saying the abuse made you gay is terrible,” Mr. Levin said. “Once I accepted that I was gay, I was able to focus on the more serious problem of a history of abuse.” Do you think it’s worth the ‘effort’ for men to try therapy in order to change their feelings for other men? A Tale of Two Directors: Alfred Hitchcock, J. Edgar Hoover, And The FBI’s Eye On The Master Of Suspense

When he wasn’t rooting out Communists, cracking down on the mob and spying on civil rights leaders, FBI head J. Edgar Hoover  toiled as a one-man culture warrior battling Hollywood decadence. He prevented Charlie Chaplin from reentering the U.S. because of his leftist political views, and he condemned Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life for its “rather obvious attempt to discredit bankers.” So what did he have to say about  Alfred Hitchcock , who gave American moviegoers new and strange things to fear?  Not a bad word. The only questions anyone’s asking about Hitchcock these days are just how much and what kind of a creeper was he? The famed director’s wandering eye, his sexual obsessions, and less-than-decorous urges roil at the center of Hitchcock , the just-released biopic starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren , as well as last month’s The Girl , the HBO film with Toby Jones and Naomi Watts . As The Birds actress Tippi Hedren  claimed  earlier this fall , the Master of Suspense could be masterfully cruel and unforgiving. But as far as his popular image as an artiste-provocateur goes, there’s probably more than a little self-mythologizing — or branding, if you’d prefer — in that ironic Englishman persona, the casually sadistic remarks about actors, the pretensions to finding truth in nightmares. It’s that last detail that fuels Hitchcock , a tempting portrait of “Hitch” as a crowd-pleasing, truth-telling anti-hero — not unlike Howard Stern and Larry Flynt in their respective biopics — who shows moviegoers the dark things they didn’t know they wanted to see. But was his threat to the American psyche all smoke and mirrors? That’s certainly what Hitchcock’s FBI file, obtained via MuckRock.com , suggests. Hitchcock’s file doesn’t begin until October of 1960, four months after the successful release of Psycho , which casts serious doubt on Hitch’s claim that the FBI followed him for three months in 1945 after he discussed uranium with a Caltech professor as research for his next film, Notorious . (Donald Spoto, a four-time biographer of Hitchcock, also concluded in The Dark Side of Genius that the FBI investigation was likely apocryphal, declaring that the “extremely sensitive” director would have been “emotionally incapable” of making a film under government surveillance.) In fact, the contents of the FBI file have much more to do with Hoover’s obsessions than with Hitchcock’s. Whatever paranoia and “extreme sensitivities” Hitchcock suffered, Hoover suffered doubly so. The bulk of the file has to do with a seven-month surveillance on a single episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents that illustrates the acute obsessiveness of the FBI’s fearsome but fearful director. Through unrelenting pressure and undeserved authority, the Bureau convinced Revue Studios, which produced A.H. Presents, to eliminate a minor character, an FBI agent who instructs a would-be kidnapper that abduction is illegal, from the episode “Coming, Mama.”
