Obama won’t insist on public option, aides say

In a move that is sure to raise the hackles of his party’s liberal base, President Barack Obama will not insist that Congressional legislation to reform healthcare include the so-called public option to compete with private health insurers, according to a report Wednesday. Buried in a Politico report Wednesday was the fact that Obama officials have allegedly decided not to insist on a public option in a planned speech the President is set to deliver on healthcare.

Shanna Moakler Fires Back at Carrie Prejean

Earlier today, Carrie Prejean actually filed a lawsuit against Miss California pageant officials Keith Lewis and Shanna Moakler. The attention-starved beauty queen claims this pair discriminated against her religion and caused extreme emotional distress. In response, Moakler’s attorney, Mel Avanzado, has issued a statement that comes to the same conclusion any sane person would arrive at: Prejean is an idiot.

New poll: 77% support "choice" of public option

More than three out of every four Americans feel it is important to have a “choice” between a government-run health care insurance option and private coverage, according to a public opinion poll released on Thursday. A new study by SurveyUSA puts support for a public option at a robust 77 percent, one percentage point higher than where it stood in June.
