According to The Toronto Sun: A 12-year-old Quebec boy is responsible for hacking several government and police websites during the student uprising in spring 2012, creating computer havoc and causing $60,000 damage, court heard Thursday. Some sites were out of service for up to two days and the boy did it in the name of the activist/hacktivist group Anonymous. The Grade 5 student from the Montreal suburb of Notre-Dame- de-Grâce, whose actions were not politically motivated, traded pirated information to Anonymous for video games, court was told. The boy appeared in youth court Thursday dressed in his school uniform and accompanied by his father. He pleaded guilty to three charges related to the hacking of the websites, including those of Montreal police, the Quebec Institute of Public Health, Chilean government and some non-public sites. Police estimate damage to the sites at $60,000 but a more detailed report will be produced in court when the boy is sentenced next month. The little hacker, whose name can’t be published and is said to have been involved with computers since the age of nine, contributed to the crash of some sites and accessed information belonging to users and administrators. He had even issued a warning to others: “It’s easy to hack but do not go there too much, they will track you down.” Court heard the boy used three different computer attacks, one which resulted in a denial of service to those trying to access the websites and flooded servers, making them ineffective. In another method he would alter information and make it appear as the homepage. His third tactic involved exploiting security holes in order to access database servers. “And he told others how to do it,” a police expert testified in Montreal on Thursday. While others were arrested in the scheme, it was the boy who opened the door to the website attacks, court heard. “He saw it as a challenge, he was only 12 years old,” his lawyer said. “There was no political purpose.” He’ll be playing video games in jail now. My name is Marianne, I’m from Quebec in Canada. I drove 5 hours to go see Justin in Ottawa on July 23rd because he wasn’t coming back in Montreal for the second leg of the Believe Tour. 216 days before the show, my friend and I bought the VIP DIAMOND package, it was hard but we finally got places on Floor A Row 7. We were freaking out, we couldn’t believe that we were so close from the stage. This was like a dream coming true because being in front of Justin couldn’t be more perfect. The only dream that I have had since 2009 was to meet Justin. We didn’t buy M&G because they were too expensive for us, so we decided to enter the BieberFever contest. The days passed, and our hopes to meet Justin started to die down. Each day, we saw people who were going to the same show as us sharing their contest picture and I thought our odds were low. Beliebers on Twitter all said to never give up on my dreams because everything is possible, but it was hard to believe in what they said. The day before the show, I was at the BayShore Shopping Center for Cody Simpson’s CD signing at HMV. I was waiting to see him, when one of friends texted me, “Check your emails.” I went on my email and then I saw BIEBER FEVER CONTEST JULY 23RD KANATA. I opened the email and saw that I had won the contest! I couldn’t handle this, I was shaking and crying for like an hour. I called all my friends to tell them that I was going to meet Justin and they were all so happy for me. I’m Steven, I’m from Quebec, Canada & I’ve been a belieber since the beginning. I’ve never seen Justin before, I didn’t go to the My World tour in 2010. It all started in May when I skipped school to buy my ticket for the Believe Tour. I didn’t buy VIP meet & greet because it’s really expensive and I cannot afford it but I still got good seats, floor seats so I was really happy. On November 25, I drove 6 hours to go to Montreal for the Believe Tour. While I was in Montreal, I was nervous because I was checking my emails every 5 minutes to know if I won the meet & greet contest on BieberFever. Unfortunately I didn’t win and I tried a lot of contests to get a meet & greet, through many contests on the radio and TV. We trended #BiebsMeetSteven on Twitter. It was my only chance to meet Justin because he barely comes to Montreal. I was kinda sad just thinking about that I wasn’t going to meet him, but I tried everything. After all: NEVER SAY NEVER is our motto. But you know what? On November 26th, I woke up at 7 a.m., went on Twitter and I got a DM from Kenny asking, “What’s your first and last name? I will leave two wristbands for you and a friend to be in the meet and greet. Pick them up at 4 p.m. from will call.” I was SO happy when I read this message. At first, I thought it was a dream but no, it was real. I went to the Bell Centre at 2 p.m. and I saw Jeremy Bieber. At 4, I got the wristbands to meet Justin and my friend and I were waiting in line. We saw people crying tears of happiness after the meet & greet and we were excited. The line started moving and we were so close. I saw Justin and I was saying to my friend, “Oh my God, it’s Justin. He’s really there.” When we went in the tent and met Justin, he said, “Hi bro,” to me. I know it’s only 10 seconds and it was really fast, but it was the best moment of our lives. After the meet and greet, I saw Bruce and Kenny was like, “Hey Steven” and gave me a handshake. I said, “Thanks you so much Kenny, I LOVE YOU” and said, “I appreciate everything you do, I love you.” *handshake* He’s so sweet. I was really happy to see Kenny because I’ve met Justin because of him, he realized my dream and made it come true. I am so grateful. The concert was incredible. My favorite part was when the whole arena was singing “As Long As You Love Me” and Justin was listening to us. The crowd was so loud and Justin was so speechless. I’ve been waiting since 2009 and it was well worth the wait. November 26th, 2012 was the best day of my life.
