What The Hell?? Iowa Woman Popped For Hanging Her Boyfriend’s Dog In The Garage – ‘He Was Old And Sick’

This chick sounds like she’ll be starring in an episode of ‘Snapped’ any day now…. Woman Hangs Boyfriends Dog Because “He Was Sick” An Iowa woman was arrested over the weekend after she reportedly confessed to killing her boyfriend’s put bulls by hanging the dog in the garage. via Fox News An Iowa woman hanged one of her boyfriend’s three dogs in the garage, and told police that she killed the dog because it was old and sick. The Des Moines Register reports 28-year-old Sheena Cornwell was arrested Saturday evening after her boyfriend came home to discover the dog hanging by its collar and leash from the rafter in the garage. The paper reported that Joshua VanDyke, her boyfriend, said Cornwell would complain about the 15-year-old dog with medical issues but there was never any abuse. “She wanted to get rid of her, but she never said anything about doing something violent to her,” he said, according to the paper. The Register reported that Cornwell heard the dog barking, and she asked if the dog barking was Lilly, the older dog. She reportedly entered the garage and emerged 10 minutes later and allegedly told VanDyke, “She’s dead, I killed her.” This was cruel. This bish needs to be sent straight to the looney bin when she gets out of jail. Shutterstock

Annette Funicello’s Death (1942-2013): Play ‘Beach Blanket Bingo’ With Her One Last Time

Actress and original Mouseketeer Annette Funicello  has gone to great big surf party in the sky, and I’d like to remember her with the opening sequence to one of her most memorable movies:  Beach Blanket Bingo .   Funicello passed away at the age of 70 on Monday from complications due to multiple sclerosis, and in addition to her Mickey Mouse Club work will be remembered for her work with Frankie Avalon in American International’s beach-party movies of the 1960s (which led to a couple of name-checks in Grease ). In this clip,  Funicello sings the movie’s title song with Avalon and manages to maintain her dignity while everyone else on the beach is shaking their money makers. There’s a reason she was America’s sweetheart for so long. While you’re at it, check out the cameos by Don Rickles , Paul Lynde and, weirdly, Buster Keaton , who engages in a Benny Hill-style fishing gag at the end of the clip. Chris Brown Probation Violation Hearing Pushed Back Until June

Chris Brown was in court Friday to answer accusations that he violated probation by falsifying community service records , but the case was postponed. The D.A. believes Brown may not have properly completed the community labor requirement of his felony assault sentence for beating Rihanna in ’09. Attorney Mark Geragos was seen smiling, his arm around Brown, as he and his client emerged from the judge’s chambers after a 25-minute consult. L.A. Superior Court Judge James Bradlin kicked off the briefest of hearings by announcing that all parties “had a fairly lengthy discussion in chambers.” It’s not clear what was discussed specifically, but they reviewed motions from the D.A’s office and Geragos, as well as supplemental probation reports. Bradlin explained that new discovery – or evidence – had just come in in the form of two thick envelopes, which will be reviewed before the case proceeds. One was from the probation department in Brown’s native Virginia, where he says he completed his 180 days of service, and another from New York. The contents of both envelopes remain sealed at this time, as Bradlin granted a continuance until June 10. Until then, status quo for Brown’s probation. When the controversy arose earlier this year, Brown went off on Instagram , exploding in a tirade … he’s since cooled down considerably in recent weeks. Brown’s mother and a bodyguard accompanied him. Rihanna is on her world tour and couldn’t come … no word on whether she was cheating on him with a girl .

Rick Warren’s Son Dies of Suicide

Rick Warren, the well-known pastor at Saddleback Valley Community Church, relayed a tragic  message to his congregation tonight: His youngest son Matthew committed suicide on Friday at the age of 27, killing himself via self-inflicted gunshot wound. Warren passed along the sad news this evening at his church in Lake Forest, California. “Matthew was an incredibly kind, gentle and compassionate young man whose sweet spirit was encouragement and comfort to many,” the church said in a statement. “Unfortunately, he also suffered from mental illness resulting in deep depression and suicidal thoughts.” Warren is the author of many Christian books, most notably “The Purpose Driven Life.” He founded the eighth largest church in the nation in 1980. “No words can express the anguished grief we feel right now,” the pastor said in a statement. “You who watched Matthew grow up knew he was an incredibly kind, gentle, and compassionate man. He had a brilliant intellect and a gift for sensing who was most in pain or most uncomfortable in a room. He’d then make a bee-line to that person to engage and encourage them. “But only those closest knew that he struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided.”

Really??? Japanese Woman Lived With Corpse Of Her Hermit Brother For Over A Year Before Discovering His Death And Trying To Dispose Of Body!

How do you LIVE with a dead body for over a year and not smell it? Via NY Daily News reports : A Japanese woman unwittingly lived with her brother’s mummified corpse for more than a year, chopping him up and tossing him in the trash when she finally realized he was dead. Masao Tadano, a reclusive character not seen by the rest of his family for decades, lived with his two sisters in the Northern area of Hokkaido. Preferring to stay in his bedroom, he was left alone by his siblings, who say they hadn’t seen him since 2010. It was only in November 2012, when they checked on him because they were moving, that they discovered the 48-year-old had died. In a state of panic, one of the sisters chopped up his corpse and dumped the pieces into plastic bags. “I did not want to be criticized and thought it would be got rid of in the trash,” she told newspaper Sankei Shimbun. His remains were discovered recently by demolition workers who were knocking down the house, which sparked a police investigation. Cops accept that the 49-year-old sister was not involved in his death, but she still faces a charge of abandonment of a corpse, reports News.com.au. It’s unclear exactly when Tadano died, but the state of his corpse suggested he’d been dead for at least 18 months when found, cops said. Damn shame… We can see how this happens though because some people really be on that hermit isht. SMH. Shutterstock

Roger Ebert’s Death (1942-2013): Forefather Of Movie Blogging Passes Away

I’ve never been much of an obituary-writing guy, but Roger Ebert   deserves to be celebrated.  So, rather than add to the hundreds of thousands of words that are about to be spent reexamining his remarkable life and career following his death today, I’m going to make one observation about his contribution to movie culture and then leave you with a clip that, I hope, will make you smile when you think of him. My introduction to Ebert, and his equally mouthy partner in movie criticism, Gene Siskel , came via their thoroughly enjoyable syndicated television show At The Movies , which began as a PBS series in 1975, Sneak Previews , and eventually became Siskel and Ebert and The Movies  from 1986 until 1999. (The year Siskel died.)  And though I’m quite aware that a) these guys were operating on television and b) blog culture was a long way off,  there’s a real argument to be made that Siskel and Ebert are the real forefathers of the movie blog culture that exists today. Siskel and Ebert: Proto-Movie Bloggers Each week, they candidly curated a subjective list of movies that were opening that week.  They told the television audience which films were worth seeing and why,  which ones should be ignored, and which movies were worth actively seeking out at the video store if they weren’t shown at the local cinema. And, by the way, their thumbs up or down system of rating movies was the proto-Rotten Tomatoes . As Roadside Attractions tweeted on Thursday afternoon: “Siskel & Ebert almost single-thumbedly made Hoop Dreams a thing. If they’d never done anything else, they’d still be indie film legends.” Siskel and Ebert lavished attention on obscure movies;  they taught their audience how to look at crowd pleasers with a critical eye, and they fought and bickered with each other in a way that made great television. Their TV show had all of the elements of a great blog:  curation, information, perspective and entertainment.  And they did it better than a lot of bloggers are doing it now. Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You, too, Gene Siskel. This is how I’ll remember you: bickering brilliantly like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?  Siskel and Ebert At Each Other’s Throats Follow Frank DiGiacomo on  Twitter. Jesus Take The Wheel: North Carolina Grandmother Found Dead In Her Wrecked Car 3 Days After It Was Towed Away!

That’s awful, but thank God they found her. Grandmother In North Carolina Found Dead In Her Wrecked Car 3 Day After It Was Towed Via ABC The family of a North Carolina grandmother whose body was found inside her wrecked car three days after it was towed said today they believe she would still be alive if a state trooper had noticed her. Carolyn Ann Watkins, 62, was found dead inside her 2000 Pontiac at a towing lot on Monday. “There was not much swelling and stuff like that, so we think she was living in that vehicle,” Patricia Parker, Watkins’ daughter-in-law, told ABCNews.com. State Trooper M.D. Williams found Watkins’ car Friday morning in a ditch near Smithfield, a town 30 miles southeast of Raleigh. Wow… Dustin’s Towing was called to the scene to remove the vehicle from the ditch and keep it for storage. Parker said the family was never notified about the crash and contacted the Smithfield Police Department on Monday when Watkins did not show up for work. The grandmother of four was found dead inside her car at the tow yard later that day, Parker said. R.I.P. Ms. Carolyn Ann Watkins. Image via ABC

Joe Weider Dies; Bodybuilding Guru Was 93

Joe Weider, a child of the Great Depression who built a bodybuilding empire, has died at the age of 93. The cause was heart failure, said his publicist. Weider grew an empire of magazines, fitness equipment, doubtful dietary supplements and Olympic-style contests featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger. As a teenager in Montreal, he hated being roughed up by neighborhood hooligans, discovered bodybuilding in a magazine and bought into it for life. He developed a V-shaped torso with bulging biceps and abs like Michelangelo’s David, and was still ripped and jut-jawed in his 70s and 80s. In the intervening decades, Weider moved to the United States as a young man, founded many of the world’s most popular bodybuilding magazines. He founded Muscle and Fitness, Flex, Men’s Fitness and Shape. They had 25 million readers and were crammed with photos of greased bodybuilders. Celebrities were also drawn to Weider. Among them: Sylvester Stallone, Cher and Schwarzenegger , who considered Weider a mentor and knew him well. Riding waves of post-World War II fascination with bodybuilding, Weider and his brother Ben founded the International Federation of Body Builders. He sponsored the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia contests and other competitions for men and women for over 60 years and in some 170 countries.
