He just won’t let go. Donald Sterling Sues NBA For $1 Billion Just hours after news broke that Donald Sterling is legally incompetent , the racist former LA Clippers owner filed papers suing the league, alleging that he was wrongfully pushed out of his position after his private conversation was illegally recorded and publicized. …Good luck with that. Via TMZ : Donald Sterling has filed a lawsuit against the NBA for more than $1 BILLION, claiming he was unconstitutionally bullied out of the league. Sterling filed a federal lawsuit Friday afternoon … claiming the NBA booted him from the league based on what he called an illegal recording that was widely publicized … painting him as a racist. As you know … TMZ obtained the recording and posted it on the website. Sterling also claims the $2.5 million fine was baseless and a violation of antitrust laws. Shelly Sterling sold the team late Thursday to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. The deal will almost certainly be ratified by the NBA. We thought this old racist signed over all his legal rights? How is he able to file suit, ESPECIALLY for such a large sum of money, if he’s not even competent enough to put the correct shoe on each foot?
Google Only Employs 30% Women 2% Black People Only 2% of Google’s employees are black, but they still represent in their doodles . Via Guardian UK: The lack of diversity among Google’s workforce has been highlighted by the company’s first diversity report, which reveals that only 30% of its staff are female. The search company’s US workforce also comprises 61% white people, with Asian staff making up 30%, Hispanic people 3% and black staff just 2% of employees. The data highlights the lack of representation of women and ethnic groups in technology companies, despite a much more diverse customer base for mainstream technology products and services. “Put simply, Google is not where we want to be when it comes to diversity, and it’s hard to address these kinds of challenges if you’re not prepared to discuss them openly, and with the facts,” acknowledged Laszlo Bock, senior vice president of people operations at Google, in a blog post. Google has released this, the first of its diversity reports, because the company believes that an open dialogue about diversity issues is the only way to solve them, something others like Nunno agree is the right course. Google believes that tackling diversity in computer science education is the way forward, and has donated over $40m (£24m) to organisations aiming to help increase the number of women and girls in science education. The problems facing both gender and ethnic diversity in technology are not insurmountable, but no one organisation can do it alone, according to Nunno, which makes Google’s release of its data a good step forward in tackling the issues as an industry. Welp, at least they admitted to it right?? SMH. Google
Still arresting minorities by the thousands over mary-crumbs … NYPD Continues Low-Level Marijuana Arrests Mayor DeBlasio promised that forces would no longer focus on low-level mary jane violations and prevent cops from pulling “stop & frisk” searches that clearly target minorities. But an NY congressman is pointing out that it’s all business as usual in NYC, and it’s sending more Blacks and Latinos to jail than anyone else. Via HuffPost : At a press conference outside One Police Plaza in Manhattan on Tuesday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) pointed to recent data showing that thousands of New Yorkers are getting arrested for possessing pot, most of them minorities. “The new administration promised change, but instead we got more of the same,” Jeffries said, referring to Mayor Bill de Blasio’s campaign pledge to lower arrests for possessing small amounts of marijuana. Data released earlier this month from the New York state Division of Criminal Justice Services shows that from January to March, more than 7,000 individuals were arrested in New York City for possessing small amounts of marijuana, and 86 percent of them were black or Latino. That number of arrests, Jeffries said, puts New York City on track to have just as many low-level marijuana arrests in 2014 as it did in 2013, when nearly 29,000 New Yorkers were busted for low-level marijuana possession. The number of arrests in the first three months of 2014 are higher than they were in either of the last two three-month periods of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration in 2013. The vast majority of marijuana arrests in New York City are for the lowest misdemeanor charge — criminal possession in the fifth degree — in which the arrestee either possessed less than two ounces of marijuana, or had the drug “in public view.” Since 1977, possession of less than 25 grams of marijuana — a little less than an ounce — has been decriminalized in New York state. Under the law, those caught with such a small amount of weed are subject to a $100 violation for a first offense. However, since the late-1990s, NYPD officers have been asking the hundreds of thousands of people they stop on the streets each year empty their pockets. In 2013, 85 percent of those people were black or Latino. When pot comes out of the pocket, it becomes “in public view,” thus allowing police to make an arrest for misdemeanor criminal possession in the fifth degree. Arrestees can face up to three months in jail, and a criminal record. SMH! Yes marijuana is illegal…but this system seems to be in place specifically to place (and keep) Black and Brown people in the justice system over trivial nonsense. What are your thoughts?

Meanwhile, Kim Jong-Un looks like… North Korean Media Posts Racist Anti-Obama Article In a Korean language-only article published on May 2, local North Koreans went on a racist tirade against Obama calling him a “disgusting-looking monkey” who “belongs in a zoo.” Via NKnews.org : The condemnations, which included unprecedented levels of extremely racist and offensive rhetoric, were published following a speech made by President Obama during a visit to South Korea in April… “How Obama looks like makes me disgusted,” Kang Hyuk, a worker at the Chollima Ironworks Factory said when translated into English. “As I watch him more closely, I realize that he looks like an African native monkey with a black face, gaunt grey eyes, cavate nostrils, plump mouth and hairy rough ears. “He acts just like a monkey with a red bum irrationally eating everything – not only from the floor but also from trees here and there…Africa’s national zoo will be the perfect place for Obama to live with licking bread crumbs thrown by visitors,” Kang concluded. Jung Young Guk of the DPRK Ocean Management Office said the timing of Obama’s visit – so soon after the sinking of the Sewol ferry – was difficult to understand, adding that Obama had a “disgusting monkey look even though he is wearing a fancy suit like a gentleman”. Good to know how they really see us overseas ! But they clearly weren’t bold enough to publish this article in English where we could all readily read it. SMH. What do you think of what the Korean government has to say about our President?
Dani Alves Eats Banana Thrown On Field By Racist Fan As the the professional athletes in the U.S. continue to deal with the fallout from the recent racist shenanigans of Clippers owner Donald Sterling, a Barcelona soccer player gave the racism in his own country a not-so-subtle middle finger with his response to a banana being thrown on the field during his game. via The Guardian The Barcelona defender Dani Alves has sparked a social media campaign against racism in football as support flooded in from fellow professionals for his decision to eat at banana thrown at him by an opposition fan. Luis Suárez, Neymar, Hulk, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Agüero were among those who posted pictures of themselves taking bites out of bananas in tribute to Alves’ actions in his side’s La Liga match at Villarreal on Sunday. Clap for ‘em.
Preference To Strongly Date Within Own Race Is Considered Racist? Anti-Swirling is not a good look??? One Slate Magazine writer says it is indeed racist to prefer to date within your own race. Via Slate: A few weeks ago, OkCupid, the popular “freemium” dating service, started offering its paid subscribers a very cool new tool. Rather than just sort through potential dates by using familiar filters like age and height, you could use the answers OkCupid members gave to various questions, such as “Do you like to watch sports on television?” or, my personal favorite, “Do you find British comedies entertaining?” Questions are an important part of what makes OkCupid work. The site nudges you to answer as many questions as you can stand, and it also nudges you to make your answers public, as you can only see the answers of potential dates if you disclose your own answers. Answering questions allows OkCupid’s fancy algorithms to identify people who might be a good fit for you. Though these algorithms can be cleverly gamed, the basic idea that answering questions honestly will allow you to find people who share your sensibilities, goals, and quirks makes intuitive sense. In a somewhat similar vein, one of OkCupid’s questions reads as follows: “Would you strongly prefer to go out with someone of your own skin color/racial background?” I was struck by the not inconsiderable number of people who answered “yes”—including some people I know “in real life,” many of whom are hilariously self-righteous about their enlightened political views. Keep in mind that OkCupid users can skip a question with ease. The people who answered this question had every opportunity not to do so. What I found surprising about the fact that a fair number of people answered that they would indeed strongly prefer to go out with someone of their own skin color/racial background was not that this phenomenon exists in the world. Racial preferences in dating are quite common, and women appear to exhibit stronger same-race preferences than men. Rather, I was surprised that people would be willing to openly state that they had strong same-race preferences. One assumes that many people who do have such preferences would either chose not to disclose them publicly, or chose to skip the question entirely. Is a strong same-race preference something one ought to be ashamed of? Or is it enough to say that the heart wants what it wants and to leave it at that? This is a more important question than you might think. To be sure, dating is about more than the sharing of bread, and OkCupid users who express strong racial preferences may well be doing the world a favor by being open and honest about their wants. But I don’t think it’s too much to ask those who do express such preferences, and those who live them in practice, to reflect on them, and on how there might be more to fighting racism than voting “the right way.” Discuss… Shutterstock
And these creepy azz…people expect to lead our country?? Republican Congressman Ted Yoho Suggests Unconstitutionality Of Civil Rights Act Via ThinkProgress Last week, former presidents and dignitaries celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, which bans many forms of employment discrimination and whites-only lunch counters, among other things. This week, a Republican congressman declared that he’s not sure if the Civil Rights Act is even constitutional. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL), a freshman congressman aligned with the Tea Party, held a town hall Monday evening in Gainesville where he fielded a wide range of questions from constituents. One such voter was Melvin Flournoy, a 57-year-old African American from Gainesville, who asked Yoho whether he believes the Civil Rights Act is constitutional. The easy answer in this case — “yes” — has the benefit of also being correct. But Yoho found the question surprisingly difficult. “Is it constitutional, the Civil Rights Act?” Yoho repeated before giving his reply: “I wish I could answer that 100 percent.” The Florida Republican then went on to strongly imply it may be unconstitutional: “I know a lot of things that were passed are not constitutional, but I know it’s the law of the land.” Hear the racist undertones spill from horse’s mouth below SMH… Image via YouTube
