Vicki’s Model Cameron Russell Says She “Won The Genetic Lottery”, Further Explains Racist Fashion Industry’s Obsession With Skinny-Azz White Girls!

Cameron is sticking to her guns Model Cameron Russell Says She Won The Genetic Lottery With Her Beauty Via CNN Last month the TEDx talk I gave was posted online. Now it has been viewed over a million times. The talk itself is nothing groundbreaking. It’s a couple of stories and observations about working as a model for the last decade. I gave the talk because I wanted to tell an honest personal narrative of what privilege means. I wanted to answer questions like how did I become a model. I always just say, ” I was scouted,” but that means nothing. The real way that I became a model is that I won a genetic lottery, and I am the recipient of a legacy. What do I mean by legacy? Well, for the past few centuries we have defined beauty not just as health and youth and symmetry that we’re biologically programmed to admire, but also as tall, slender figures, and femininity and white skin. And this is a legacy that was built for me, and it’s a legacy that I’ve been cashing in on. Some fashionistas may think, “Wait. Naomi. Tyra. Joan Smalls. Liu Wen.” But the truth is that in 2007 when an inspired NYU Ph.D. student counted all the models on the runway, of the 677 models hired, only 27, or less than four percent, were non-white. Damn, 4 fawking percent… I am not a uniquely accomplished 25-year-old. I’ve modeled for 10 years and I took six years to finish my undergraduate degree part-time, graduating this past June with honors from Columbia University. If I ever had needed to put together a CV it would be quite short. Like many young people I’d highlight my desire to work hard. But hard work is not why I have been successful as a model. I’m not saying I’m lazy. But the most important part of my job is to show up with a 23-inch waist, looking young, feminine and white. This shouldn’t really shock anyone. Models are chosen solely based on looks. But what was shocking to me is that when I spoke, the way I look catapulted what I had to say on to the front page. Even if I did give a good talk, is what I have to say more important and interesting than what Colin Powell said? (He spoke at the same event and his talk has about a quarter of the view count.) She makes a good point, say what you want about “post-race America” but when it comes to the catwalk, if it ain’t white, it ain’t right . The numbers don’t lie. Image via WENN

Viola Davis On Maids In Movies: “People Need To See An African-American In The 21st Century Who Is Not In Servitude!”

Heck No, Them Maid Roles Gotta Go! Just in case you didn’t believe her the first time she said it, Viola Davis is speaking up LOUDLY about how modern cinema needs to portray black people — as something other than maids and slaves! Via Salon.com : Viola Davis, nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her role as a maid in the Civil Rights Era-set movie, “The Help,” will most likely never play a maid again. She recently told CNN, “I’m tired of that,” explaining, “Me and Octavia [Spencer], Aunjanue Ellis, Roslyn Ruff – we all played maids in ‘The Help’ and it was fabulous. It’s a fabulous story because we were personalized and all of those things, but I think that people need to see an African American in the 21st century integrated in the life of this town and family who’s not in servitude.” Except that in “Beautiful Creatures,” the book that Davis’s next movie is based upon, her character Amma is, again, a maid. She told the Hollywood Reporter that “[Director] Richard LaGravenese forbade us from reading the book. He said, “Do not touch the book.” (Naturally, Davis then got the book). “I read half of it and then I put it down because Amma is a maid, and I just said, ‘Ok, there’s nothing I can learn from this.’ ” But then LaGravenese changed the character for the film adaptation, who became a hybrid of Amma and a local librarian who has magical powers. Davis called it “a total reimagining of the character,” and said that even though it veers from the original text, the change makes sense in the greater context of the movie: “I’m going to be confident and bold and say I like it because, listen, I understand and I respect the book and I think the book is wonderful but this is 2013 and I think that when black people are woven into the lives of characters in 2013, then I think they play other roles than maids. I think that that needs to be explored and I hope that the audience is willing to suspend their disbelief and embrace what Richard LaGravenese has given them.” The movie explores the budding romance between Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchaness (Alice Englert), a mysterious newcomer with supernatural powers, set in a fictional South Carolina town. So basically she’s a maid who got promoted to a librarian with magic powers? AND they still made her wear dashikis — so is that really any better? We realize this is no joking matter and we’re glad Viola Davis has finally come to her senses. Black actresses have played enough maids for all time. They’ve also played enough hoes and dope dealers. When will Hollywood get the memo though?

Eff This Guy: Teg Nugent Says The “Gangsters In The White House” Barack Obama And Eric Holder Have A Racist Agenda [Video]

Ted Nugent is back to his race-baiting and ignorant azz antics again… Aside from him calling rappers “big uneducated greasy black mongrels” and the President a “gangster,” this guy is accusing Barack Obama and Eric Holder of racism! According to Media Matters: National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent said that President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder are “promoting” racism and that the Obama administration has a “racist agenda.” In the past week Nugent has been praised by media figures on CNN and Fox News. Nugent made his comments during an interview on WorldNetDaily’s radio program ; he recently joined the birther website as a columnist… NUGENT: Again it really is a nation divided. And it’s never been more divided. The racism that President Obama and Eric “Gunrunning” Holder promote is just heartbreaking and it’s tragic and those of us that know better have got to constantly expose their ruse and their scams and their racist agenda. Just a week ago, CNN reporter Deb Feyerick praised Nugent as having a “deep connection with the facts” in the gun policy debate. In a follow-up segment on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront, Feyerick and host Erin Burnett treated Nugent’s conspiracy theory that Obama will confiscate firearms as a serious policy debate. On Tuesday, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly applauded Nugent’s opposition to gun violence prevention proposals, stating, “Now that kind of straight talk is what the Republican Party needs.” This is not the first time Nugent has addressed the topic of race for WND. On January 9, the conspiracy clearinghouse published an interview with Nugent where he claimed, “there will come a time when the gun owners of America, the law-abiding gun owners of America, will be the Rosa Parks and we will sit down on the front seat of the bus, case closed.” Nugent’s comparison between gun owners and Rosa Parks was roundly denounced by civil rights leaders. Nugent, an ardent defender of the Confederate flag, has a lengthy history of making racially charged comments. In a July 6 column for The Washington Times, Nugent wrote, “I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War.” He has also claimed that real Americans are “working hard, playing hard, white motherfucking shit kickers who are independent” and that African-American rappers appearing on MTV are “big uneducated greasy black mongrels.” SMH. What The Fawk Donald Duck?! Second Black Family Comes Forward Over Disneyland Discrimination

Disneyland is definitely not the happiest place on earth for little black children… It turns out that the white “Alice In Wonderland” rabbit that was hatin’ on lil Elijah and Jason Black ain’t the only racist character at Disneyland. Via NY Daily News reports : The lawyer for a black San Diego family that claimed they were discriminated against by a Disney character during a trip to Disneyland said he’s received dozens of calls from people alleging the same thing. “I’ve gotten many emails and voicemails that I’m looking into. What this tells me is this isn’t an isolated incident,” attorney Dan Gilleon told San Diego’s ABC 10 News. “It doesn’t mean Disneyland is racist, but they have some people in the company who aren’t playing by the rules and are being discriminatory.” On Thursday, a second family came forward to say their two children were ignored by someone playing Donald Duck during a trip to the Magic Kingdom in December. Nastasia White, who is black, told 10 News the person in the duck suit ignored two requests to take a photo with her children, Razzi, 5, and Ryder, 2, and played with white children instead. “[Razzi] was sitting there with his arms open, saying, ‘Donald, Donald!’” White, of Los Angeles, said. White told the station she wasn’t overreacting because the character’s brush-off “was done in a blatant and ugly way.” The White family has hired Gilleon to pursue their case. Disney has not responded to the Daily News’ request for comment. Earlier this week, the company said they carefully review all claims from guests at their parks and hotels. Earlier this week, Jason and Annelia Black, of San Diego, claimed their children and cousins were ignored by someone dressed as the White Rabbit character from “Alice in Wonderland” in August. The Blacks, who are black, claimed the costumed character turned away from them to play with some white and Asian families. Gilleon told the Daily News that Disney officials tried to duck the family’s complaint by offering VIP passes worth $500 in exchange for a signed statement clearing the Magic Kingdom of any wrongdoing. The Black family was suing Disney for violating California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act, which outlaws discrimination based on race, sex and other qualities, Gilleon said. Gilleon claimed the snub was caught on security video, and he plans to subpoena Disney for it. Violation of the Unruh act carries a penalty of $25,000. The Blacks planned to claim anywhere from three to ten violations — based on the number of children present during the alleged snub — and also plans to also seek attorney’s fees and damages, including the cost of the trip, Gilleon said. Kinda funny that the two families involved have the last names White and Black. But there is nothing funny about this discrimination. Disneyland better bow down or pay the fawk up!!! In Old Racist GOP White Folks News: John McCain Compares Iranian Leader To Monkey

John McCain Compares Iranian Leader To Monkey Thank goodness this douchelord never actually became President… Via NBC News: Always one to speak — or Tweet — his mind, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) Monday made a joke comparing Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to a monkey, something one Republican congressman charged was “racist.” “So Ahmadinejad wants to be first Iranian in space – wasn’t he just there last week?” McCain said in a tweet that also linked to a story about Iran launching a monkey into space. Some didn’t take so kindly to the not-so-diplomatic quip, prompting McCain, 76, to respond: “Re: Iran space tweet – lighten up folks, can’t everyone take a joke?” Seeing that, Michigan congressman Rep. Justin Amash, 32, shot back. “Maybe you should wisen up & not make racist jokes,” Amash tweeted. It’s not the first time McCain’s made a joke about Iran that landed him in some hot water. During his run for president in 2007, McCain sang about bombing the country. As if we didn’t already know John McCain wasn’t isht, he goes and says stuff like this. SMH. WENN

Race Matters: White Georgia Businessman Demands End Of Black History Month Because It Condones “White Guilt” And “Spoils Black People”

Is he right?? White Businessman Demands End Of Black History Month Georgia Businessman Jim Thompson claims America has already done enough for Black people and those who historically have been downtrodden. Including Black History Month … Via Chillico The Gazette reports: Black History Month is observed in the U.S., Canada and Great Britain. When it comes to Black History Month, I look forward to the day that we don’t have or need a Black History Month — not for a lack of respect for African-Americans, but because, as a whole, we have decided equality has been achieved. However, at the same time that I look forward to this, I also am pessimistic this will happen, at least in my lifetime. Read on. I was born out-of-wedlock to two deeply religious people, one of which was married and had four children. My father divorced and married my mother. Yet, for decades to come, they beared the guilt and shame of their actions (would that people did just a little of this today in similar circumstances). Their way of dealing with this was to spoil me. As many of us know, we who have been spoiled often do not realize it. It took me decades to understand how destructive this was to me. Likewise, as a country as a whole, a country founded on equal opportunity for all, slavery was a contradiction and a stain on our national psyche. The Civil War merely, barely started to solve the problem. The next 100 years were more a hindrance to equality than a step forward. Only in the lifetime of the living today have we made near final steps in solving these problems. However, as a country, we still have the shame and guilt of our forbearers’ actions. We have overcompensated. We have spoiled those for whom we feel guilty for having wronged. Like me at one time, they don’t realize they are spoiled and how limiting that is to their self-worth and potential. And when an old white guy like me points this out, I am called a racist (note: Bill Cosby preaches almost the same message). So, welcome to Black History Month. I challenge you to find the equivalent to our Black History Month anywhere other than the countries I previously named; indeed I challenge you to find any country that has done as much for past downtrodden minorities as we have in the United States. We, the U.S., have nothing to be ashamed of in the current world. It is time we quit trying to assuage our own national guilt by spoiling others, an action that is selfishly serving only the spoilers and is a disservice to the spoiled. Further, when I place Black History Month in the context of my own experience of being spoiled as shared above, I would suggest it has become a bit of a sly white racist joke. Yes, if you search its history, it was started in the 1920s as Black History Week to instill a sense of pride in African-Americans. Those days are long past — African-American examples of great achievement are all around us today. Now it is like other things here in the South that sound caring but are not. The greatest example of this is, “Bless his heart …” It is used like this, “Bless his heart, he had a car wreck.” The correct interpretation of this is, “He is such an idiot, he probably had trouble riding a tricycle.” Likewise, if you are forced to receive special attention, there is an implication of weakness, a weakness I have not found to be true with African-Americans. When the day comes that African-Americans demands the elimination of Black History Month because they recognize it is not done for them but for the spoilers, we will know true equality has been achieved. Colorblindness is true racial equality. Discuss….

You Can’t Be Serious: White Man Enlists Help Killing Wife From Black Co-Worker “You’re Black, I Know Y’all Know People”

This ignorant fool deserves to be in jail for this isht! Stephen Perry of Carmel Indiana is currently locked up awaiting trial after enlisting his black co-worker to kill his estranged wife, which he thought would help resolve serious debt issues the couple faced. According to JCOnline reports : Last month, Perry offered a co-worker $15,000 to kill his estranged wife so he could collect the money he thought she owed him and get rid of his former lover for good, police records say. Perry, 27, faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder while he sits in Hamilton County Jail. In mid-November, while working at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change in Carmel, Perry asked a co-worker whether he knew someone who could kill another person, according to a probable cause affidavit. Perry went to the co-worker, Adrian Howard, because Howard is black, the affidavit says. “You’re black,” Howard later recalled Perry saying, according to the affidavit. “I know ya’ll know people.” Howard initially thought Perry was joking, the affidavit says, but started to believe him after Perry said he wanted his estranged wife dead to settle their divorce and gain some money. On Dec. 8, Howard recorded two conversations with Perry on a cellphone while they were alone at work. During the conversations, Perry offered Howard $15,000, and a machine to print counterfeit money, to kill — or have another black person kill — his estranged wife, the affidavit says. “I just want this to be over and done with,” Perry said, according to a five-minute recording described in the affidavit. “So if she dies, I can drop the divorce lawsuit, she’s dead and I’m free.” Howard replied, “That ain’t what you want, man.” Perry, the affidavit says, then said he wanted the woman “done.” Perry handed Howard a paper with his estranged wife’s name and address, the affidavit says, and said she was living with her grandparents. Perry allegedly told Howard: “Do you want me to draw you a map of the house, how it’s laid out so you don’t kill her grandparents, just take care of her?” Howard then took the paper and said he would call some people. Perry, according to the recording, asked that Howard keep the killer’s identity secret. “I don’t want to know who, all right?” Perry allegedly said. “And if they can make it look like an accident. I mean we live in Carmel. So, you know. Black people in Carmel?” Later that month, Howard searched online for the name of Perry’s estranged wife, Allison Mayer. Mayer is the owner of a photography shop in Carmel. Howard then texted Mayer and said it was “very important that she contact him,” the affidavit says. The two met at a Starbucks, and Howard played two recordings between him and Perry. Mayer took the recordings to Carmel police. She told a detective that she and Perry had been married since December 2009 but that he had moved out in March 2012 and filed for divorce in Marion County about two months later. Several hearings on their divorce had been delayed, causing the divorce process to stretch for more than half a year. Mayer told the detective she and Perry were $200,000 in debt and that $170,000 of it came from her living expenses and college tuition. The rest, she said, came from credit cards and a civil judgment involving an apartment where they had lived. Perry, Mayer told police, believed she owed him $15,000 and told people she had stolen it from him. This woman would probably be dead if not for that black co-worker — cuz from the sound of it Perry would have kept looking until he found a “black person” who would have carried out the job. SMH! Sad to see there are folks out there who think having a murder committed is as simple as just asking a black person to “hook it up.” Photo Credit: Hamilton County Police

American Idol Denies Racist Claims The Show “Exploited And Humiliated Black Singers” For Ratings Because They Had Past Black Winners!

Is American Idol racist ? American Idol Denies Racist Allegations Via TMZ reports : Four “American Idol” finalists from different seasons — two of whom are black — insist the singing competition is many things … but racist is NOT one of them. TMZ broke the story … nine black ex-contestants are planning to sue “Idol” producers, claiming the contestants were publicly disqualified based on their dubious criminal backgrounds … solely because they’re African-American. But Season 6 finalist Melinda Doolittle adamantly disagrees, telling TMZ, “It is shocking to see such allegations. In my experience on the show, the ‘Idol’ team strives to champion everyone, regardless of race. However, each contestant is explicitly told that the withholding of information that may compromise the show or artist, can and will result in immediate disqualification.” Season 4 finalist Vonzell Solomon adds, “I didn’t experience any of that [racial discrimination] … all of our contracts were clear about how the background checks worked and that we could be disqualified if we lied about our past.” Two other former contestants — Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks and Season 10 finalist Casey Abrams — also agree. Casey says, “I don’t know why they are biting the hand that fed them. Those guys beat thousands of people who wanted to be on TV. Idol is picky, but I’m not sure about racist.” Taylor — whose Vegas show is still going strong — adds, “American Idol is for everyone. All walks of life go through the show. Not once did I see the show discriminate towards anyone. It’s all about the votes.” FYI — “Idol” has had three black winners in its history … Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino and Jordin Sparks. Fox and “Idol” producers have yet to respond to the allegations. Discuss…

Gun Activists Begin “What Would D’Jango Do?” Campaign To Promote Gun Use Amongst Blacks!

Don’t we already have enough guns in the black community??? Pro-Gun Activists Begin “What Would D’Jango Do?” To Promote Guns Ownership Among Blacks Quentin Tarantino is on record blaming firearms for recent mass killings in Newtown, Conn., and elsewhere. So it might come as a surprise to him that a pro-gun group is invoking the director’s current film, Django Unchained, in an effort to woo African-Americans to their side in the debate over gun control. The group is called Political Media, and it’s the same entity that was behind Saturday’s controversial Gun Appreciation Day, which encouraged Americans to show up at various places with a copy of the U.S. Constitution and signs reading, “Hands off my guns.” Larry Ward, president of Political Media, a company that designs websites and organizes ad campaigns for right-of-center organizations, said hundreds of thousands of people participated in Gun Appreciation Day, crowding gun stores and gun shows and demonstrating at various state capitals nationwide. He’s hoping for similar success with his follow-up effort, dubbed “What Would Django Do?” Ward plans not only a campaign but a nonprofit organization that would bear the name, though he acknowledges he hasn’t sought permission from Tarantino or from The Weinstein Co., the studio behind Django Unchained. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it,” Ward said. “We’ll make sure we aren’t violating copyrights, and if we are, we’ll have to change the name. But Django is perfect for what we’re trying to do, which is to promote gun rights to minorities. We’ll tackle the issue on the Democrats’ own turf.” While they are waiting for that bridge, we’re trying to figure out what the HELL makes them think that his campaign is a good idea?! Ward calls his new effort What Would Django Do? because of an opinion column by Jonathan David Farley at AbsoluteRights.com, which was reprinted at GunAppreciationDay.com. Ward is partnering on What Would Django Do? with Farley, a principal at The Warren Group, which helps to advance “progressive” causes, putting Farley at odds with his colleagues when it comes to gun control (The Warren Group is not involved in What Would Django Do?) In his article, called What Would Django Do? Arms and ‘The Man,’ Farley pores through history in support of his idea that blacks should shun gun control, citing such people as Ida B. Wells-Barnett, a black author who wrote Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases. Farley writes: “Wells, who, like me, had to flee Klan supporters in Tennessee after writing a newspaper article, said that ‘a Winchester rifle should have a place of honor in every black home.’ ” Farley also notes that Martin Luther King Jr. applied for a gun permit, but pro-segregation authorities denied him, and he says influential black Americans like Frederick Douglass and Malcolm X argued in favor of the Second Amendment. Slavery in America wouldn’t have existed if blacks were armed, he argues, and in the article he notes that when a Negro Rifle Club was to be organized in Cleveland during the Civil Rights Movement, local racists rioted, even killing a man with a bulldozer. What do you think about the “What Would D’Jango Do?” campaign? Are you offended by the concept or do you feel link Ward and Farley are making valid points that blacks should heed? For Discussion: “Gay Is The New Black”…Do African-Americans Need To Accept Homosexuality?

Political commentator, John McWhorter, did an opinion piece on why Black people need to be more accepting to the gay community. Via NY Daily News: When President Obama sounded off about Seneca Falls, Selma and Stonewall during Monday’s inaugural address, it got me thinking about how fragile the links between those events actually are, despite his attempt to paint them as part and parcel of a single progressive movement throughout our history. For example, early feminists often had little interest in assisting what was then called the Negro with his (or her) problems. By our standards, many of them were racists. After their victories, we still had some way to go. Today, we are at a similar stage. Too many black Americans have little more interest in keeping the ladder out for gay people than early feminists had in doing the same for black people. It won’t do to euphemize it as a matter of black people resenting the gay movement taking on the civil rights banner, with its calls of “gay is the new black.” This isn’t a battle over political theory or jostling over who’s been more oppressed; it’s good old-fashioned homophobia. Yes, homophobia is American, not African-American. Blacks neither taunted Rutgers student Tyler Clementi into killing himself nor murdered Matthew Shepard in a field on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyo. And to the extent that homophobia has been more deeply rooted in the black community than in the white population, this is changing. The percentage of blacks who favor gay marriage is about the same now as the percentage of whites, according to a Pew poll taken during the last election season. “One of the striking results in the 2012 exit polls was the support for legalizing gay marriage among black voters,” that poll noted. However, rising support isn’t enough — we must keep going. When Michael Richards spouted the N-word on stage, he was shamed by the nation for weeks. It won’t do for Tracy Morgan to get a mere slap on the hand for crowing that he would stab his son if he turned out to be were gay. As a consequence of its painful heritage, black America has a special responsibility: to be further ahead of the curve than whites on accepting gay people as full citizens. The Bible cannot be used as an excuse to hold us back. We should remember that racists once also appealed to the Bible to justify segregation, slavery and all manners of hatred. Let’s be progressive for real this time around. One indication that the black community has turned a corner on this issue will be from celebrities. Black America has yet to see the equivalent of Ellen DeGeneres’ famous coming-out. Wanda Sykes, Don Lemon and rapper Frank Ocean have been noble pioneers — but then again, none are megastars or play romantic parts. Do you agree?? Discuss in the comments below… Read article in its entirety HERE
