Sportscaster Lamar Hurd Aims To Be First African-American Star Of ABC’s “The Bachelor” We’re not gonna lie — we’re not big fans of ABC’s “The Bachelor” and a lot of the reason why is because we’ve felt like it wasn’t for “us.” So we can’t help but be excited about this Lamar Hurd character who is now vying for the spot for Season 17 of the show. Here’s a little more info: Last year show creator, Mike Fleiss told Entertainment Weekly that he and his production team are always looking to cast for ethnic diversity, “it’s just that for whatever reason, they don’t come forward. I wish they would.” Well look no further, Portland-based sportscaster Lamar Hurd is vying to become the show’s first African American hopeful. Initially the multifaceted commentator and entrepreneur was reluctant to apply for the show’s upcoming season, but thanks to his assistant, Tammy, Hurd has a different point of view. What’s the 411??? Mary J. Blige’s Controversial Burger King Chicken Ad Removed From YouTube Though the damage (to Mary’s J. Blige’s brand) has already been done, the infamous Burger King chicken wraps ad featuring the mega-platinum star has mysteriously disappeared from the fast food chain’s YouTube (and thus can’t be easily obtained elsewhere). (Reportedly, the commercial was removed due to “copyright issues,” a notion I give an even stronger side-eye to as well.) If you were recently searching for it, you’d have to rely on Web, co-worker and family accounts of its ridiculousness. (We actually found it on another site here.) The television spot, which featured Blige singing the ingredients to chicken wraps in a song reminiscent of a Top 40 hit (as a comical group of patrons Bankhead Bounce and Raise the Roof), had many reactions — mostly negative — from raised eyebrows to utter disgust, and reminded many of us that stereotypes of dancing, singing, and chicken-loving black people still remain prevalent in the hearts and minds of advertisers. Not only that, but it’s to be noted that late-night talk show host Jay Leno and oh-so-fine soccer superstar David Beckham both have recent Burger King commercials, yet those do not include them making a mockery of their brands. (So you won’t see Beckham dancing around, doing foot tricks with nuggets, nor will you see Jay Leno singing any ditties.) Mary, we’ll always love you, but this was some ol’ BULLISHT! SMH: Detroit Students Suspended For Complaining About Unqualifed Teachers And Demanding “An Education”

“We want… education! When do we want it? Now!” About 50 students were suspended Thursday from the all-boys Frederick Douglass Academy in Detroit, Mich. for walking out of classes in protest, demanding “an education.”: Among their complaints: a lack of consistent teachers, the reassignment of the school principal, educators who abuse sick time and a shortage of textbooks. “We’ve been wronged and disrespected and lied to and cheated,” senior Tevin Hill told the Detroit Free Press. “They didn’t listen to us when we complained to the administration. They didn’t listen to the parents when they complained to the administration, so I guess this is the only way to get things solved.” One math teacher, parent Sharise Smith tells WJBK-TV, has been absent for more than 68 days. The students marched outside the school and chanted, “We want… education! When do we want it? Now!” Students and parents became increasingly alarmed when Frederick Douglass was no longer listed as an application school in the district — current students had to apply to attend. Smith told the Free Press that her son was given an A in geometry without taking a final exam. “It was by default, just for showing up. It wasn’t because he earned an A,” she said. The Frederick Douglass boys are just some of many students in a city that proved to be the worst-performing urban school area among 21 surveyed across the country. Despite its national rank, Detroit’s overall performance increased on the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress. The 17-year-old Hill told The Detroit News that so many teachers have been simultaneously absent from school that dozens of students had been forced to gather in the gym or other common school areas. Students also went for long periods without homework, and Hill said he struggled on a recent placement exam at Bowling Green State University, where he’s been accepted to attend next year. “I literally couldn’t answer a question on there,” Hill said. “Right now, I’m not going to be as successful as I should be because I haven’t been properly taught.” How sad! No rest for the dead SMH A white supremacist hacker says he’s broken into Martin’s email and social networking accounts, and leaked his private Facebook messages: The list included login details for Martin’s Gmail, Yahoo, MySpace, and Twitter accounts. A source who came across the 4chan post when it was live was able to use the information to log onto Martin’s Gmail account Tuesday night. Our source panicked upon seeing that trolls had started using the account to send emails under Martin’s name, and deleted the account. (An email sent to Martin’s Gmail address bounced back today; Martin’s Twitter account has also been deactivated. His MySpace page is still up, showing that the last login was Tuesday.) In addition to the Facebook messages, Klanklannon posted a list of usernames and passwords for Martin’s social media and email accounts as proof of his exploits. All of the passwords had been changed to racist slurs. On 4chan, Klanklannon made clear their intention to smear Trayvon. Klanklannon introduces the post with, “Today /pol/, tomorrow CNN.” One 4chan user told us Klanklannon had been attempting to break into Martin’s accounts for days, posting periodic updates to the board. “Where did all the liberals go?,” Klanklannon taunted after posting his slides. “Did they run off because they can’t handle the facts?” But Klanklannon included none of Martin’s emails in his leak, because the picture they paint is of a normal high school junior preparing for college. A screenshot of Trayvon’s Gmail inbox our source provided us is heartbreaking. Martin apparently used his Gmail account for his college search, and it’s filled with emails about upcoming SAT tests and scholarship applications. (“Trayvon, now is the best time to take the SATs!”) One email included the results of a career aptitude test, our source said. It “talked about his interest in aeronautics and stuff.” This low-life scumbag has only proven nothing more than the lengths to which the racist amateur detectives and conservative journalists are willing to go to smear Trayvon Martin’s memory, get a life!!! “Hunger Games” Kills It At The Box Office But Rabid Fans Expose Their Racism On Twitter By Hating On Rue And Thresh

Twitter Exposes Racist Hunger Games Fans Via Their Tweets About Rue And Thresh “The Hunger Games” made a shatload of money this weekend at the box office ($155 million) but unfortunately a great film is almost being overshadowed by the overwhelmingly RACIST attitude some fans of the book have taken toward the casting of black actors in several of the main parts — even the ones who were described as having dark or brown skin in the book! Now as you may know, Katniss, the main character in the book and film, was described as having “straight black hair” and “olive skin.” It’s a post-apocalyptic world, so she could be a mix of things, but some pictured a Native American. Blonde-haired, blue-eyed Jennifer Lawrence won the part and dyed her hair dark. But when it came to the casting of Rue, Thresh, and Cinna, many audience members did not understand why there were black actors playing those parts. Cinna’s skin is not discussed in the book, so truthfully, though Lenny Kravitz was cast, a white, Asian or Latino actor could have played the part. But. On page 45 of Suzanne Collins’s book, Katniss sees Rue for the first time: …And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that’s she’s very like Prim in size and demeanor… Later, she sees Thresh: The boy tribute from District 11, Thresh, has the same dark skin as Rue, but the resemblance stops there. He’s one of the giants, probably six and half feet tall and built like an ox. Dark skin. That is what the novelist, the creator of the series, specified. But there were plenty of audience members who were “shocked,” or confused, or just plain angry. The tumblr Hunger Games Tweets has collected a smattering of Twitter postings, with the goal of exposing “Hunger Games fans on Twitter who dare to call themselves fans yet don’t know a damn thing about the books.” What people are saying is disappointing, sad, stomach-churning, and just plain racist. Another day, yet ANOTHER idiotic statement by Nasty New t GOP hopeful and resident bloated bullishter Newt Gingrich slammed Barack Obama on Friday, saying the president’s remarks about the fatal February shooting of Trayvon Martin were “disgraceful.” Via HuffingtonPost : What the president said, in a sense, is disgraceful. It’s not a question of who that young man looked like. Any young American of any ethnic background should be safe, period. We should all be horrified no matter what the ethnic background. Is the president suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot, that would be OK because it didn’t look like him. That’s just nonsense dividing this country up. It is a tragedy this young man was shot. It would have been a tragedy if he had been Puerto Rican or Cuban or if he had been white or if he had been Asian American of if he’d been a Native American. At some point, we ought to talk about being Americans. When things go wrong to an American, it is sad for all Americans. Trying to turn it into a racial issue is fundamentally wrong. I really find it appalling. It sounds like Newt is only trying to play the race card and not very well at that. GTFOHWTBS!!!!!!!!! The Blaze, a right-wing site started by Glenn Beck, has a post up insinuating that Trayvon Martin may have been a dangerous criminal: But Mytheos Holt, an associate editor at the Blaze, chided many supporters of Trayvon “for being too willing to exploit racial controversy” and for dismissing claim of self-defense Zimmerman. Holt went further and criticized Trayvon Martin by insinuating that the slain teen was a troublemaker. We’re also learning more about Trayvon Martin. According to reporters he had been suspended from school. The International Business Times says Martin’s suspension was due to last for 10 days. But what exactly was he suspended for in the first place? Sources sympathetic to Martin say he was suspended for “excessive tardiness.” However, a quick review of both the local policies for Martin’s school, the Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, and of the Miami-Dade school district’s district-wide policies, raise some doubts. Holt went on to enumerate the many infractions which can lead to a student being suspended in that school district — including theft, sexual harassment, vandalism or sex offenses. No reports have suggested that Martin was suspended for anything other than lateness. Holt did not explain in his post why he assumed that these hypothetical infractions were likely. The sentiment that Martin was up to no good was echoed in the comments of the post, but they were less extreme than those found on the website of Fox News. “GOOD SHOT ZIMMY. lol” wrote one commenter. “i’m just glad Zimmerman didnt miss and hit an innocent bystander,” said another. This is pure B.S I want to see the kids police record even if something is expounged also why was he removed from facebook it says account terminated.Why because his parents are trying to cover his tracks just like if you hit a bus they see Dollar signs.People have dragged data about Zimmerman out where is the kids past.Don’t say he was a good boy prove it.Ask yourself what is more likely to happen any 17 year old kid when you ask a question.A smartass reply I have never and I mean never seen a teenager run unless he did something wrong.I guess no crinimal has ever cased a place when they went to a store.It takes me aback the way all these facts are quoted by people who read one story on a issue. Though the Martin case has become a major national news story, Fox News has dedicated relatively little airtime to covering it. As of Monday at noon, the network had aired just one segment on the case, compared to 41 segments on CNN and 13 on MSNBC. No rest for Trayvon and no justice served against Zimmerman. More details have been released about the alleged friction between Khloe Kardashian-Odom and hubby Lamar Odom and it seems she hasn’t been as supportive as we may have thought. KHLOE KARDASHIAN’s marriage to NBA star LAMAR ODOM is on the rocks be­cause he’s blaming her for causing problems with his new basketball family. Lamar, 32, has been struggling on the court since he was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks late last year. And making matters worse, sources say he and Khloe are fighting over her refusal to socialize with his teammates and their wives. According to a close source, an angry Lamar snapped at Khloe: “You have your own agenda! Everyone believes you think you’re too good for them!” The source went on to explain: “The Mavericks won the NBA champi­onship last year, and their biggest change this season was bringing in Lamar. He hasn’t played well and the whole team is floundering, so the last thing he needs is for Khloe to act like a diva.” The 27-year-old reality show star reportedly got off on the wrong foot with the players’ wives and girl­friends. Several social events were planned to bring her into the fold, but she was always too busy shuttling back and forth between Dallas and L.A. to participate, the source said. “She isn’t trying to become part of the group,” the source continued. “She’s basically been a no-show.” Khloe even declined an invitation to get involved with The Jason Kidd Foundation, a charitable group run by Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd and his wife, Porschla. The foundation is dedicated to improving education among the youth. “Khloe said the charity sounded great but that she doesn’t have the time to get involved, plus she works with her own fundraising groups,” said the source. “That didn’t help her to win any fans with the Mavericks ladies. And it’s just making life more difficult for Lamar.” The couple married in 2009 after a month-long romance. Since then, Lamar has become a fixture on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” and the two got their own spinoff series, “Khloe & Lamar.” But the move from Los Angeles to Dallas has thrown a monkey wrench into their lives and marriage. “They’re fighting a lot,” revealed a family friend. “And their marriage is melting down because of it.” And now Lamar’s been demoted as well. This sounds kinda like some petty isht, but if Khloe can make time to travel to all of Lamar’s away games and make it to his home games, she ought to be able to at least volunteer a little time for Porschla and the other NBA wives. Dream told British publication blacks can’t do soul music anymore because of the world’s fascination with white artists doing soul music: “It’s called rhythm and blues; they just took the blues out of it for so long. What’s crazy is that blacks can’t do soul records any more. We love Adele singing it, but Beyoncé singing it? No.” Nash went on to say, “No, the tempo’s too slow, gimme the club hit. Now the Blacks in America are responsible for the Pop records, and everybody else is singing soulful records. It’s weird to me. We’re pigeonholed over there.” It’s evident with the success of artists like Adele, Justin Timberlake and Amy Winehouse that white artists are valued for their “soulful sound” but how do black artists compare?
