Who actually believes these jerks are sorry? In their eagerness to make an unfunny pun about the NBA’s newest Asian sensation — Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin , ESPN’s mobile site posted the headline “Chink In The Armor” last night for a story about Jeremy Lin and the Knicks’ loss. ESPN has since removed the headline and released the following statement: Last night, ESPN.com’s mobile web site posted an offensive headline referencing Jeremy Lin at 2:30 am ET. The headline was removed at 3:05 am ET. We are conducting a complete review of our cross-platform editorial procedures and are determining appropriate disciplinary action to ensure this does not happen again. We regret and apologize for this mistake. Uhhh that’s more than a mistake. That’s a pretty racist error. What should ESPN do to show they’re truly apologetic for being so out of pocket??? These people were out of hand talking about Whitney ! We understand that people make controversial comments. It’s what they do. But do we have to make them about someone like Whitney Houston who just passed away?! These people threw all kinds of shade on Whitney and she hasn’t even been gone a week yet. Sit these hoes down. ASAP.
SMH at “the end of white America” and the shrinking of the “European and Christian core of our country”: Pat Buchanan , a prominent conservative commentator for MSNBC for the last decade, is departing the channel, he said Thursday. In an essay, he cited “an incessant clamor from the left” as the reason for his departure. A spokesman for the cable news channel said, “After 10 years, we’ve parted ways with Pat Buchanan. We wish him well.” The circumstances of Mr. Buchanan’s departure are unclear, but he has not appeared on the channel since October, when he began promoting his book, “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?” The book conveyed Mr. Buchanan’s concerns about the effects of demographic changes in the United States, including what he called “the end of white America” and the shrinking of the “European and Christian core of our country.” A number of statements in the book were seized upon by liberal groups, who pressured MSNBC to either sanction or fire Mr. Buchanan. In his essay Thursday on the Web site of The American Conservative, a magazine he co-founded, Mr. Buchanan cited Abraham H. Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League, an influential Jewish organization, and wrote, “What Foxman and A.D.L. are about in demanding that my voice be silenced is, in the Jeffersonian sense, intrinsically un-American.” “Consider what it is these people are saying,” Mr. Buchanan continued. “They are saying that a respected publisher, St. Martin’s, colluded with me to produce a racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic book, and CNN, Fox News, C-SPAN, Fox Business News, and the 150 radio shows on which I appeared failed to detect its evil and helped to promote a moral atrocity.” Mr. Buchanan, who twice ran for the Republican nomination for president, has always been an ardent conservative. But MSNBC has not always been a liberal-leaning cable news channel. When he was hired at MSNBC in 2002 — he had spent the previous 20 years hosting CNN’s “Crossfire” on a rotating basis — the channel called itself “fiercely independent” and had no clear political tilt. Mr. Buchanan wrote Thursday, “In the 10 years I have been at MSNBC, the network has taken heat for what I have written, and faithfully honored our contract. Yet my four months’ absence from MSNBC and now my departure represent an undeniable victory for the blacklisters.” While sidelined at MSNBC, Mr. Buchanan continued to make many other media appearances throughout the fall and winter. Of the eight interviewers he named in his essay, five were hosts on the Fox News Channel or its sibling the Fox Business Network. Several Fox News hosts and commentators publicly defended Mr. Buchanan in January, sparking some speculation that Fox could sign him as a commentator at some point. Via NYTimes More On Bossip! Y’all already know how much we appreciate Idris Elba for his ruggedly handsome good looks, incredible swagger and British charm so when we had the chance to chat with him about his upcoming role in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance we jumped at it. Along with the film, we also spoke with Idris about his recent Golden Globes win and how he feels about the role race plays in Hollyweird. Check out our interview below: BOSSIP: You have an upcoming film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance . Can you tell me about what role your character Moreau plays in the film? Idris Elba: The character is sort of a warrior for hire, he is a priest but he also rides motorcycles, he likes wine, and he’s a monk, but he gets sent on a mission to find the ghost rider in this film. When you meet him, that’s where he has been, he has been trying to find the ghostrider. It’s a fun character for me, a lot of action stuff, I got to dress up, eye color change and I look a little crazy in the film but, it was a lot of fun! BOSSIP: You recently did the Thor movie as well, so, you are getting these Marvel characters down. Do you have your eye on any other Marvel parts like maybe a black superhero? Idris Elba: Yea, Marvel is a huge. It’s interesting, because my characters Moreau and Heimdall are not really related but in my head and my personal space, I think that they are related. I have thought about playing another superhero, like maybe Luke Chase, would be an interesting one to go for. I don’t know, we will see, I think some comic films are good and some are not. I would rather make a superhero character that is really good from scratch than make one that no one is interested in seeing yet. To quote Dr. Dre, “Here’s what they think about you.” Comedian Dave Ackerman went to the campus of Brigham Young University and asked the co-eds questions about what they know and think about Black people. The usual ignorant answers abounded with plenty stereotypes being hurled. However, Ackerman felt it was necessary to pose his questions while in blackface… Continue
And this guy is serious about this: After a Latino state legislator proposed a Latino American Day, lawmaker Cecil Ash stepped up before the legislature to suggest a holiday for white people. Seriously. This is, after all, the land of S.B. 1070, the contentious and draconian immigration enforcement bill that has been mired in legal deadlock since it was signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer (R) in 2010. The legislation, considered the strictest of its kind when it was passed, is to be ruled upon by the Supreme Court later this year. It’s also home to Russell Pearce, the former Republican state senator credited with laying down the framework for the state’s controversial immigration law. And who can forget the ever-graceful Brewer, stateswoman and author, wagging her finger dismissively in the face of President Obama at an airport in Phoenix last month? And the swashbuckling Sheriff Joe Arpaio lives there, too. He proclaimed himself “America’s Toughest Sheriff,” and now finds himself ensnared in a U.S. Justice Department investigation accusing his department of racially profiling Latinos, basing immigration enforcement on racially charged citizen complaints and punishing Hispanic jail inmates for speaking Spanish. Enter Cecil Ash, a Republican from Mesa, who feels that what Arizona needs now is an official holiday for white folks. The idea apparently came to Ash after state Rep. Richard Miranda proposed a Latino American Day. “I wanted to speak to you all about Latino Americans here in Arizona,” Miranda said on the House floor Monday. After some debate, Ash stepped forward with his grand idea. “I’m supportive of this proposition and I think it’s well deserved,” he said. “I just want them to assure me that when we do become in the minority you’ll have a day for us.” There was laughter on the House floor. On CBS 5 News, reporter Elizabeth Erwin introduced her story on the latest state controversy saying, “You can’t make this stuff up.” No you can’t. On the street, a random woman in a baseball cap said Ash’s proposal made sense. Of course. “Like they have Cinco de Mayo for Mexicans,” she told CBS 5 News, “we need something for whites.” Only in Arizona. Ash, for his part, wasn’t backing down. “I think it was appropriate,” he told the station, referring to his proposed holiday. “It was appropriate for the mood that was in the House and I think that if and when the Caucasian population becomes a minority, they may want to celebrate the accomplishments and the contributions of the Caucasian population the same way.” Thoughts???? Can’t really argue with their logic… Author and activist Maya Angelou hopes for a time when Black History Month will no longer be needed to explain the contributions of African-Americans. “We want to reach a time when there won’t be Black History Month, when black history will be so integrated into American history that we study it along with every other history,” she said in an interview from her home in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Wednesday. “That’s the hope, and we have to continue to work until that is true, until that becomes a fact.” In the meantime, she said, she will continue to put the history out there. Angelou is hosting an hour-long syndicated radio special on the civil rights era that will air throughout this month on about 200 public radio stations across the country. Her special features Grammy award-winning singer Mary J. Blige, Democratic Rep. John Lewis of Georgia, former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, economist and Bennett College President Julianne Malveaux, and professor Nikky Finney, winner of the 2011 National Book Award for poetry. Angelou, 83, said she hopes the program sends a message that “the work of making our country more than it is today” is unfinished. Black history IS indeed American history, so should we now protest Black History Month?? Speak your piece in the comments section Source More On Bossip! This is the face of ignorance . There’s nothing funny at all about the years of civil rights violations that took place in East Haven, Conn., where four officers were arrested recently for routinely abusing their power and intimidating Latinos who entered the suburb. But you still have to watch the video of idiot East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo telling WPIX reporter Mario Diaz “I might have tacos when I go home,” in response to the question “What are you doing for the Latino community today?” Check out the video on the next page…
