Ho Sit Down: Fox News Host Says George Zimmerman Was Justified In Killing Trayvon Martin Because The Teenager “Might Have Been Violent” From Smoking That Sticky Icky

Leave Trayvon alone! Fox News Host Says Trayvon Martin May Have Been Violent People just keep showing their racism with this Trayvon Martin case. It’s the O.J. Simpson trial all over again. According to Raw Story Fox News host Gregg Jarrett suggested on Monday that George Zimmerman might have been justified in killing Trayvon Martin because the teen “may have been violent” from smoking some sticky icky. During a break in jury selection for Zimmerman’s trial, Jarrett told viewers of Fox News’ live Internet broadcast that the judge had tried to restrict the evidence to facts related to the day of the shooting. “She’s said we’re not going to have any of this stuff introduced as evidence about the history of Trayvon Martin, whether he had a history of getting involved in fights, making threats, drug use, gun use, being suspended from school and so on and so forth,” he observed. Former federal prosecutor Doug Burns pointed out that the judge may allow evidence that Martin had drugs in his system at the time of his death. “If an M.E. — a medical examiner — takes the witness stand and says he was high on drugs based on toxicology, how does that play?” Jarrett wondered. “That’s a very good question,” Burns agreed. “If he is high, he may have acted irrationally and may have been violent,” Jarrett opined. Burns noted that the prosecution could argue “the reverse spin, which is the effect of drugs making you more mellow.” “If it’s in his system, that’s a fact that the jury is entitled to know,” Burns added. “But again to repeat our point, it can cut both ways. You could call an expert to say that drugs doesn’t make you violent.” Speaking on the online Internet video broadcast last week, Jarrett offered the opinion that Zimmerman “has already been punished” for killing Martin because he “looks like he’s put on a hundred pounds.” It doesn’t matter if he got high or not. He still didn’t deserve to be gunned down like an animal.

Race Matters: Hollywood Movie Director James Gray – “You Have To Accept That Immigration Is What Enriches Society”…..Is He Right?

Director James Gray Says Immigration Enriches Society Like many issues that are currently plaguing Washington, the topic of immigration is gaining the attention of those beyond the hill, including Hollywood film director James Gray. via USA Today Director James Gray might be portraying 1920s Ellis Island in his Cannes Film Festival competition film The Immigrant. But the story of coming to America at that time shines a light on attitudes Americans have toward immigrants today, Gray said at a press conference on Friday. Latinos, for example, are referred to in the same derogatory terms that in-coming Europeans were referred to in past generations. “I wish we would free ourselves from the racism and prejudice because I think (immigration) is one of the most important aspects to a dynamic culture,” Gray said. “After a while you have to accept the fact that (immigration) is part of what enriches the society. It doesn’t debase the society.” The Immigrant stars French actress Marion Cotillard as a newly arrived Polish woman trying to survive in New York, and also features Jeremy Renner and Joaquin Phoenix. Portions of the film were shot on Ellis Island. Do you agree with this quote, Bossip fam?

Ho Sit Down: Fox News Host Megyn Kelly Says Eric Holder’s Denunciation Of Violence Against Muslims Could Be Seen As Offensive

For some people ignorance is just in their DNA. Fox News Host Says Eric Holder’s Remarks Could Be Offensive According to Raw Story U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s denunciation of violence against Muslims during a speech to the Anti-Defamation League could be seen as offensive, according to Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Though the vast majority of his speech focused on the ADL’s importance in fighting hate crimes, some conservatives have become outraged that Holder denounced “misguided acts of retaliation” against Muslims. Kelly addressed the issue during a segment on Monday. “He is speaking to the Anti-Defamation League, which is a group that fights anti-Semitism and he is lecturing that group on how they can’t be bigoted, and we can’t be ignorant, and we can’t have a backlash against Muslims,” Kelly said. “I mean, the context could be perceived by some to be somewhat offensive, that the Attorney General is perceiving the folks in front of him or others in this country are now getting ready to put on their bigoted clothes and go out there and exercise their ignorance as opposed to expressing outrage at the fact that we were attacked by two guys who apparently are followers of radical Islam.” Kelly’s guest, Julian Epstein, completely dismissed her concerns, stating that nobody at the ADL thought Holder’s remarks were offensive. He noted Muslim Americans and mosques frequently faced attacks following high-profile terror attacks like the Boston Marathon bombing. But Kelly was skeptical that Muslims in the United States were threatened, citing the lack of news coverage of such events. Following the Boston Marathon bombing earlier this month, frequent Fox News guest Erik Rush called for all Muslims to be killed. Three days later, a man assaulted a Muslim woman in Boston and screamed, “Fuck you Muslims! You are terrorists!” The FBI has investigated more than 800 hate crimes against Muslims — and those perceived to be Muslim — since 9/11. Do you think when people are given a public platform it magnifies their racism? Fox News

Race Matters: Oberlin College Cancels Classes After Series Of Racist Incidents Including Black History Month Poster Vandalized To Read “N***er History Month”

Racist And Prejudice Acts Cause Oberlin College To Cancel Classes An Ohio college is sending the message that racism and prejudice will not be tolerated following a series of incidents targeting African-American and gay students . Oberlin University officials recently made the decision to cancel classes to investigate and find out exactly who is behind the acts. via The Guardian A liberal arts college in Ohio suspended classes on Monday after a series of racist and “anti-gay “incidents on campus. Over the past month at Oberlin College, swastikas have been daubed on windows, gay-rights flyers defaced and a poster for Black History Month overwritten to read “N***er History Month”. On Monday, police were called to investigate a sighting of someone dressed as a member of the “triple K clan” near the college’s Afrikan Heritage House in the early hours of the morning. That prompted officials to suspend classes “to make a strong statement about the values that we cherish here at Oberlin: inclusion, respect for others, and a strong and abiding faith in the worth of every individual”. Kudos to these school administrators for a taking such a huge stand against this type of ridiculous behavior and letting the students know that it will not be tolerated. Shutterstock

In White Folks News: Joaquin Phoenix Talks Racism Against Blacks In Hollyweird With Interview Magazine

Preach white man, preach… Joaquin Phoenix Talks Racism In Hollywood With Interview Magazines Via Interview Magazine Joaquin Phoenix has been known to be a bit of a fawking weirdo, but in his latest chat with Interview Magazine he takes on an issue that he feels strongly about, racism against African-Americans in Hollyweird. After briefly describing his childhood troubles, Joaquin asks the writer about his concern over racism in the film industry. PHOENIX: Yeah. So I don’t experience any of that. I mean, dude, how can you work in film and still see the overt racism that exists in film and not just be furious all the time? MITCHELL: You know what? As a black person, you see so much racism. Films are no different than the government, politics—it’s everywhere. It’s not exclusively film. It’s infuriating to see it in film. But my being in film changes things. PHOENIX: Yeah, but there’s all of this horrible racism that white people don’t even recognize. Did you see Jumping the Broom? MITCHELL: I’m a black person. Of course I saw it. PHOENIX: I feel like all white people have to see the film just because I’ve never seen a movie in which most of the white characters in the movie were just working. It was fucking great. It was almost comical. There was a scene during the wedding reception, and there are, like, eight white people just carrying stuff. The main white character with some dialogue was the ditzy, stupid assistant. I enjoyed it so much because you never see that. But that’s something that I think white people don’t notice. They don’t notice that the fourth character is black and that’s what it always is. It’s always happening. It’s just the assumption that, “Well, that’s just a representation of life.” Joaquin also talks about a run-in he had with some movie producers who were totally oblivious to the racist undertones of their films. PHOENIX: You know, I got this script a while ago for this thing. It was kind of like an action movie, and it definitely dealt with race in a big way. But then it didn’t. Without getting into specifics . . . MITCHELL: Did the film get made? PHOENIX: Oh, it got made. But you could not believe that this thing actually got made, because it seemed like it was from the 1940s or something. It’s got this black character in it who was literally always being saved by the white dude because he was, like, cowering in the corner. So I went in and met the director and producer and I said, “You guys realize that your only black character is this guy, and it’s like the most clichéd thing we’ve seen in movies forever.” And they were like, “What do you mean?” And I was like, “You mean you’re not even aware of it?” They didn’t even realize what they were doing. So I said, “Look, I’ll give them a read if the black character doesn’t get killed and is going to make it into the sequel. They have to put him in their sequel, the black character.” So I spoke to the writer and was like, “Dude, be a hero. When this movie comes out in the summertime, give black kids a character they can see themselves in.” But it just didn’t occur to them, and I realized what a battle it is when people aren’t even aware of what they’re doing. I know what that battle is. I’ve done battles like that before, and you lose. So I didn’t do the movie . . . They did keep the black character alive, though. He’s in the sequel-at least, that’s what I’ve heard. MITCHELL: Was it a successful movie? PHOENIX: I don’t think it’s come out yet. It’s one of those big action movies. Interesting, you don’t often hear white actors/actresses stand up and speak out against the foul industry practices that they KNOW are going on. This interview doesn’t make Joaquin Malcolm or Martin, but it is kind of refreshing to hear. How do you feel about Mr. Phoenix’s comments? Image via
