Raul Caiz Says Ross Stole His Name Rick Ross fired back in his $2 million battle with an unknown musician over the name “Mastermind,” demanding the case be thrown out and then slapping the man with a counter-suit. Independent hip hop artist and producer Raul Caiz filed a federal lawsuit against Rick Ross, Def Jam Records and Universal Music Group, saying Ross was using a name he’d trademarked and had been using for 17 years to release music. Caiz said he’d had songs played on the radio, one of his tracks was featured in a movie, released tracks and recorded his music using the name “Mastermind.” He said around 2013, Ross, real name William Leonard Roberts, announced his sixth album would be entitled “Mastermind,” and shortly after the rapper began calling himself “Mastermind” in interviews, performances and other people started following suit and calling Ross by the new nickname.

Black mental health matters… MarShawn McCarrel Commits Suicide An activist in the Black Lives Matter movement has died. MarShawn McCarrel, 23, killed himself Monday outside the steps of Ohio’s statehouse after posting on social media that his “demons won.” Prior to his death he was celebrated for his work in raising awareness on Ohio’s homelessness and was named one of Radio One’s Hometown Champions. The New York Daily News reports: A Black Lives Matter activist killed himself on the steps of the Ohio Statehouse, authorities said. MarShawn McCarrel, 23, shot himself in front of the Columbus building Monday evening, Lt. Craig Cvetan of the State Highway Patrol told the Columbus Dispatch. “My demons won today. I’m sorry,” the activist, who recently attended the NAACP Image Awards, posted on his Facebook page about 3 p.m., just hours before his body was found near the Statehouse. His last tweet read: “Let the record show that I pissed on the state house before I left.” No one witnessed the shooting, Cvetan said. McCarrel was pronounced dead at the scene. McCarrel, who had recently worked with Black Lives Matter, helped organize protests in Ohio after a Missouri cop shot and killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in 2014. He also founded youth mentorship program Pursuing Our Dreams, which launched Feed the Streets, a project to help Ohio’s homeless. He attended the NAACP’s Image Awards on Friday, Pursuing Our Dreams wrote on its Facebook. So, so sad to hear that this young brother took his own life. Condolences to the family.

Usually, when we report on Chelsea Handler it means she posted yet another nude photo online . But this week, Chelsea has managed to make tabloid headlines with her clothes on , thanks to some surprising comments by one of her former Chelsea Lately writers, Heather McDonald. In addition to writing for the show, McDonald made frequent appearances during the roundtable discussion segment, and she and Handler developed a friendship. A friendship that is definitely over, following McDonald's recent comments during a recent podcast interview. “I lived in fear, 100 percent lived in fear,” McDonald said. “She laughs at you. And that’s what’s sad. She makes you feel so special until you’re not.” Today, Handler fired back during an interview for Jenny McCarthy's, and it was not pretty: “She exchanged stories with Us Weekly in exchange for them running her photo while she was working for my show. “I could've fired her, but instead, I just stopped spending any personal time with her. Everyone was telling me to fire her, and she's complaining that I stopped hanging out with her? “She would never say anything that like that to my face. She would only say that on the radio. Because she's f–king scared, and she should be. What a loser.” Damn. Chelsea might be more vicious in a feud than ex-boyfriend 50 Cent. Remember when 50 Cent and Cheldea Handler were banging? Yeah, that was a weird thing that happened.
