My name is Jackie. My Bieber Experience happened in February …

My name is Jackie. My Bieber Experience happened in February 2011 when Justin was in Toronto for his Canadian Premiere of Never Say Never. It was totally unexpected and even 5 months after, I still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it. This is the story of how I met Justin Bieber. The weekend before the premiere, KiSS 92.5, a popular radio station announced they were giving away passes to the screening. I spent day in and out listening to the radio, I was yelling at my brother to keep calling when the lines were busy. I was GLUED to the radio. Unfortunately I didn’t win the tickets but decided to do the contest which was to make a poster and the best winning posters would get free tickets. The morning of my friend and I HUSSLED to make these posters, we even included CHUCK NORRIS in one. How awesome is that? Anyways, we found out that Justin was staying in the Royal York Hotel and was holding a press conference in the hotel. One of my friends who was with us, knew her way really well around that hotel since she’s stayed there a couple of times. We decided to take our chances and perhaps get a chance to be in the same room as Justin. If we got kicked out by security, we got kicked out, whatever, we’d still try for those passes. Anyways, trying to look as unbieber fevered as possible (even though we had purple streaks on our faces and wore an excessive amount of purple) we ninja’ed ourselves in the hotel being unnoticed until one of the clerk came up to us. She was honestly the BEST. She’s like, “Ladies, I know why your here and I’m supposed to kick you out but go up the escalators and to your left and he will be there”. Trying not to freak out, we make ourselves look casual and high class and told ourselves if anything we are looking for the bathroom. There were a group of 5 girls already upstairs and obviously telling us that we would be kicked out if we didn’t leave, yadda yadda yadda, which I mean is totally understandable, which girl WOULDN’T want to have Justin to herself? We kinda just brushed the girls off and quietly sat in the hotel. His press conference was supposed to happen soon and since everyone was starting to set up, all of a sudden some security guards are heading towards us. We automatically thought we were getting kicked out but they were like, “We know why you are here, and we will let you stay ONLY if you don’t scream. We wont guarantee anything but at least you will be closer to him than any other girls here in Toronto”.  You have NO idea how bad I wanted to scream but I knew that I couldn’t blow my chance. Justin was FASHIONABLY late but it was worth it. There were no more than 15 girls from the outside. The rest were workers. In total maybe 25 people. He talked to us, took pictures with us, he even signed my Vanity Fair magazine that I bought that day. Once he entered we still all waited there hoping he’d come out again and see us, but all of a sudden we hear  Justin’s voice LITERALLY saying, “Wait, what about all my fans out there? Where are they? Are they staying out there? But there’s so much room here, I want them here, they are the reason I’m here, bring them in”. The public is RARELY invited to see a private press conference, and the one lady told us we were one of the luckiest girls alive. He got asked a bunch of awesome questions and then only 2 of his fans were allowed to ask him a question. The first one asked: Will you marry me? and the other one asked: Do you miss your hometown alot? and once the second girl finished, the annoucer was about to say Alright folks, were done for today UNTIL I raised my hand as fast as I could and Justin said, we have time for one more and picked ME. I asked him if he still plays hockey. I recorded ALL of this on my blackberry. When he answered my question, he didn’t look at the media, he looked right into my eyes. I then knew that he was all in it for his fans and that he charishes us SO much. Even though I didn’t win the passes to his screening, I TALKED to Justin. I looked him right in the eye. He is SUCH a down to earth guy, I would have NEVER expected it. And trust me ladies, he looks SO MUCH better in person than in photos. and he looks SEXY in photos. Justin, if you read this, I hope you’ll follow me sometime. I appreciate all you have done and I thank you for picking me out of all the girls to answer my question. You are my idol. Never Say Never. -@jaackiedzionek Read the rest here: My name is Jackie. My Bieber Experience happened in February …

Creator Of Black Music Month Speaks On Getting Jimmy Carter To Hold First BMM Event

Kenny Gamble and Ed Wright created Black Music Month! Gamble credits his inspiration for starting it to the evolution of the NATRA (National Association of Television & Radio Announcers). “At one of its annual conventions, there were discussions on how it could evolve into something different, as NATRA had fallen on some hard economic times. It was time for something new and more inclusive of other industry professionals in the business,” he recalls. As for getting Jimmy Carter to hold the first Black Music event, read on… W illiams: How did the BMA get President Jimmy Carter to hold the first Black Music Month event, June 7, 1979, at the White House? Gamble: We had a lot of wonderful people involved. We had noticed that the CMA had been to the White House several times, so we were like, “Why can’t we go?” I called Clarence Avant… he knows everybody. He called Joe Smith and others. Plenty of calls were made. From my point of view, Clarence is the one who made it all happen. Andre Crouch and Chuck Berry performed and a lot of people were there that day. It was a great celebration and uplifting moment for African-American music people. For so long, Black folks had been pushed into a hole, like we didn’t count. The BMA made a difference by working together. It was a great moment and beautiful day that I won’t forget. My name is Courtney and I met Justin Bieber on August 24, 2010…

My name is Courtney and I met Justin Bieber on August 24, 2010 in Ottawa, ON, Canada. I have been a fan of him since he started posting videos on YouTube in 2007 and have wanted to meet him ever since. 2009 is when me and a close friend entered a couple contests (one on YouTube and one through MuchMusic) to meet him and we sadly had no luck with winning. I found out he was coming to Ottawa on his My World Tour and knew I had to attend. I got the tickets as a gift and decided to bring along my sister to the concert. I was thrilled to be going to his concert and was looking for opportunities to meet him there. The local radio station, Hot 89.9, held a contest called “Show me your Bieber” where you had to show them how much of a Justin Bieber fan you are, and if you won you got to meet him . My parents along with my sister and I decorated the whole front of our house, as shown, and sent in our entry. Hoping for the best. The day finally came where we found out if we had won or not, only a couple days before the concert. There was about 5 minutes of time left before the radio dj’s job was up at going to the winners homes, and I had texted my mother saying “I guess we didn’t win ” just as our doorbell rang. I ran downstairs and opened the door and was greeted by the DJ who handed me a letter. I was so excited. They gave me all the details and as soon as I shut the door I was jumping up and down screaming. We called our mom and she was running through her work screaming that we had won. We were one of five contest winners out of over 5,000 entries. The day of the concert, we arrived and had to wait awhile to get into the meet and greet, waited in a few lines, and I was very anxious. When it was finally our turn, the curtain opened and we walked in and I felt like dying as soon as I saw him. He greeted the group we went in with a, “Hey guys” and then looked right at me and said, “Hey there” as he extended his arm out to put around me. I got right in close, his arm around my shoulder, my arm around and gripping his waist. The moment was fast, but very magical and it was the best moment of my life. I learned to never say never that day. If you try, you will succeed. I still have not succeeded in getting a RT or tweet or follow from Justin on Twitter, but I will never say never and keep trying!
