Drake To Visit Lil Wayne In Prison

‘FINALLY got some time for a visit to go see my brother,’ rapper tweeted. By Jayson Rodriguez Drake and Lil Wayne Photo: the305.com Drake announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he would be visiting his mentor in prison on Wednesday (June 2). “FINALLY got some time for a visit tmrw to go see my brother,” Drake wrote . “So if you got msgs that need to be delivered write #TellWayne.” The Toronto MC has been on the road and putting the final touches on his debut, Thank Me Later, since Weezy turned himself in to prison back in March. In an interview Drake gave to MTV Jams in honor of Lil Tunechi Weekend, the So Far Gone superstar admitted he missed his Young Money cohort, from their friendly rivalry to the veteran rapper’s guidance. “One of the most important things in my life was being able to always see that Weezy e-mail come in,” Drake explained while donning a white T-shirt emblazoned with the rapper’s face and the words “Free Wayne.” “Or be able to respond to that e-mail or be able to ask him a question. Be able to utilize his knowledge. Our communication, I would say I miss that.” Since the rapper has been away, Drake has done his best to keep Lil Wayne’s name alive , from shouting him out at shows to bringing him up in interviews. Wayne has done a good job himself of staying active in the public’s mind, releasing a spate of videos and hosting a mixtape from behind bars. According to the New York City Department of Correction website, Wayne is allowed visits on Wednesdays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. The two will be allocated an hour of time for the visit and Drake will be subjected to multiple searches before he’ll come face to face with Wayne. Fans have followed Drake’s instructions and are hoping he relays a number of messages, including notes of support and wishes for Wayne’s next album to arrive soon . Drizzy also will be relaying a message from his own mother to Wayne. “I talked to mother, she loves you to death,” Drake told MTV. “That’s from Mama Graham.” What do you think about Drake going to visit Lil Wayne? T.I. Says Critical Georgia Parents Ignored His ‘Message’

‘I think the message is more important than who’s giving it,’ Tip says of his middle school visit, on ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’ By Jayson Rodriguez T.I. Photo: Moses Robinson/ Getty Images T.I. won over fans and court officials alike last year when he starred in the MTV show “Road to Redemption.” In the series, viewers followed the Atlanta MC as he counseled troubled kids about avoiding the mistakes he’d made. Filmed before he went to prison on weapons charges in June 2009, “Redemption” also helped satisfy the requirements of Tip’s reduced sentencing deal , which included 1,000 hours of community service. But not everyone was moved by the rapper’s progression. In April, some parents of students at a Georgia middle school were upset after learning that T.I. visited as a featured speaker. Parents were not notified before the rapper’s appearance. T.I. responded to the criticism in an interview with talk show host Wendy Williams. He told Williams that before lashing out against him — parents should ask their kids what they’d learned. “Well, to be perfectly honest, speaking freely if I may, I honestly believe that they should more concerned with the message than the guy giving the message,” the rapper said during Friday’s episode. “I think they should have asked their children, ‘What did you hear? What did he say?’ The complaints came after the fact. I think they should have asked, ‘What did this guy tell you?’ I think the message is more important than who’s giving it. Because if it had been an accountant, a dentist, someone else coming in giving the same message, the message wouldn’t have been received.” Last year, in an interview with MTV News, Tip opened up about the heart-to-heart conversations he was having with children, and said he would continue to give the talks ever after his release from prison. He addressed specifically the kids he had mentored on “Road to Redemption.” “[I know] they desire to,” Tip said of his impression that the at-risk youth wanted to do good. “Of course, they don’t ride around with T.I. every moment of every day of their life — when they’re not with me, they’re back in their environment that they were in before they met me,” he explained. “The people they spend most of their time around can have a negative influence on their decision-making sometimes. A lot of times they can overcome that negative influence, sometimes it’s half and half. They still go to school, get good grades, do the right thing. When they come home, sometimes they’re kicking it here and kicking it there, doing things — they might not do it as much as they used to.” What do you think about T.I.’s comments? Kanye West’s ‘Power’: What Do Fans Think?

‘It sounds really victorious,’ one fan tells MTV News of ‘Ye’s first new music in months. By James Dinh Photo: Dominique Charriau/WireImage It’s been months since we’ve heard from Kanye West , so it makes sense that so many fans are hungry for new music from the rapper. On Friday (May 28), a brand-new track called “Power” leaked online. MTV News wanted to know what fans thought of the song, so we ventured into New York’s Times Square to hear what was on their minds. Many music fans couldn’t have been more pleased with “Power.” “It sounds like how he used to. I like him back when he first came out. It was like a throwback,” Kalu Ohator told MTV News. “It sounds really victorious.” Another fan, Adrienne Smith, enjoyed the track because of its uniqueness. “It’s got a cool mix of kind of tribal music,” she said. Despite the VMA fiasco , Smith believes Kanye’s boldness ultimately gives the rapper an advantage. “I think Kanye’s really good about highlighting maybe some of the things we don’t want to think about in terms of American culture, but he does it in such a clever way, and he always had that little bit of arrogance that is Kanye,” she said of the song’s lyrics. Shirin Taki was pleased with the track’s originality. “I liked it. I thought that it was really unique. He has good style. He’s always putting on something new,” she gushed, noting that the rapper always has something great up his sleeve. While some fans enjoyed “Power,” others thought it could have been better. “It started well, and I thought it had potential, but then it kind of just carried on the same and got a bit boring and repetitive,” Haley Heathfield said. In the end, one fan suggested that it really might not be all about the music. “It was good. It seemed a little racy,” Richard Malkling Jr. said. But despite West’s ability to make great music, Malkling couldn’t ignore the rapper’s egotistical past. “He’s always got good lyrics, but I don’t know … too much power for one man.” What did you think of “Power”? T-Pain Thinks ‘American Idol’ Could Help Him Sell More Records

‘I don’t know if they let you use Auto-Tune, but if they do, I’m a shoo-in,’ he tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez T-Pain Photo: MTV News T-Pain is diligently at work on his next album, but it seems like the Tampa, Florida, native is already thinking about the marketing plan for the project. ” Revolver is coming,” he told MTV News on Saturday, backstage at Chris Brown’s “Virginia Stand Up!” benefit concert . “We’re just trying to see. … It’s hard to sell records unless you’re Susan Boyle, I guess. Nobody is selling records. “I should compete on ‘American Idol’ the way they’re selling records when they come off of there,” T-Pain laughed. “I need to be a part of that competition. I don’t know if they let you use Auto-Tune, but if they do, I’m a shoo-in. I’m two shoes in! I’m a pair of shoes in.” The computer-aided crooner hasn’t released a project since he was embroiled in a pseudo-feud with Jay-Z after the rapper released his single “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).” Pain initially announced his follow-up to 2008’s Thr33 Ringz would be Revolver, although he flirted with the title UBER. But that project, which he said was going to be released last year, appears to have been shelved. Recently, T-Pain announced that plans for a joint album with Lil Wayne are now on hold following the rapper’s incarceration. He told MTV News in March that it didn’t make sense to rush the project while Wayne was preparing to begin his prison sentence. “The T-Wayne album, we’re actually gonna wait until he gets out,” Pain said at the time. “He has so much going on. He has Rebirth out right now. I don’t wanna interrupt that. We just gonna wait until he gets out to really get in on that. We recorded a bunch of songs. But, right now, it’s time for him and his personal sh–. We definitely got an album’s worth of material, but it’s only an album’s worth. It’s nothing to pick from. We just got an album. We can put out whatever we feel like and say, ‘Hey, this is T-Wayne’s album,’ or we can actually try to make it good. Like we’re actually trying to make an album and say, ‘This is the good T-Wayne album.’ Rather than just record 12 songs and say, ‘Here you go, mutha—-as! I know you want it. You gonna buy it anyway, just ’cause you think it’s good.’ ” Are you excited to hear T-Pain’s next album? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists T-Pain
