"Kettlegate" Scandal Shakes Green Tea Lovers

Image credit: The Guardian OK, my headline may be verging on the hyperbolic, but our readers can get pretty worked up about eco-kettles , and they are not alone. The Guardian tells us that a controversy has been brewing in England over comments made by Richard Gillies—the director of retailer Marks & Spencer’s “Plan A” green initiative —about a “bug-ugly” eco-kettle that he had given up using. The trouble was,… Read the full story on TreeHugger

Dioni Tabbers Thonged Ass in Prim Magazine of the Day

This is how I keep my site relevant to advertisers. I post the smuttiest high fashion shoots I can find, because fashion gets kinda smutty, whether it is naked chicks, half naked chicks, girls in their underwear or girls sexually suggestive, I post the shit, cuz I figure if these other sites and magazines can pass it off as art, then so can I, so it won’t be long before Chanel, Rolex and BMW start advertising on here, cuz my readers must be high brow, since the content is…. Her name is Dioni Tabbers, I don’t know who she is, but I wouldn’t mind getting to know who she is while sedated in a back alley since that’s proven to be the best seduction strategy for me. She’s in a corset and a thong and even though I prefer my bitches to not be in underwear, spread eagled and raping themselves with their fingers, unless the bitch freshly gave birth, cuz no one wants to see a vagina in it’s flappiest state….this will do. Here are the pics…

Publisher Provides Disclaimer With U.S. Constitution, Will Media Notice?

Copies of the U.S. Constitution put out by Wilder Publishing and being sold on Amazon.com come with an odd disclaimer on the first page of the pamphlet, in part declaring: “This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today.” On Wednesday’s America Live on FNC, host Megyn Kelly reported the controversy, will the rest of the media follow? In an example of political correctness run amok, the disclaimer goes on to warn parents of the literary material to follow: “Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.” The provocative pamphlet also includes the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. On FNC, correspondent Trace Gallagher quoted the publishing company’s response to the controversy: “We specialize in classic books and we were receiving complaints about the values depicted in some of the books. We wrote the disclaimer so that we could stop having to point out to our readers that people held different values 100 or 200 years ago. It seems we’re dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t.” Kelly concluded: “You know, it’s one thing when you republish ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover,’ its another when you slap that thing on the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.” Gallagher mocked: “Warning children.” Below is a transcript of the full June 9 FNC report. One wonders when the mainstream media will report on the issue. 2:52PM EST MEGYN KELLY: Well, a reprint of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence stirring up a heated controversy. The publisher apparently feeling that it’s pamphlet, reprinting these documents, needs a warning label about values. Trace Gallagher reports live in our west coast newsroom. Trace. TRACE GALLAGHER: At the end of America Live, we just like to get people riled up, Megyn, we think this will probably do the trick. You know, we started researching this story this morning. We went on to Amazon.com and right next to the title, where it says the U.S. Constitution, somebody typed in ‘shame on you for adding this disclaimer.’ Amazon.com, by the way, has taken that down. But if you buy a copy of the U.S. Constitution on Amazon.com, what you will get is a disclaimer that says, and I’m quoting the following here, ‘This book is a product of its time, and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.’ So, of course, we called the publishing company, it’s Wilder Publishing. We called them, we emailed them, and we finally got a response and we have it right here. And the response is the following: ‘This is a generic warning that we put on all of our books. It was not our intention to tell people how to interpret the U.S. Constitution. We specialize in classic books and we were receiving complaints about the values depicted in some of the books. We wrote the disclaimer so that we could stop having to point out to our readers that people held different values 100 or 200 years ago.’ He ends by saying ‘It seems we’re dammed if we do and dammed if we don’t.’ KELLY: Oh, Warren. GALLAGHER: That’s the response from Wilder. Warren Lapine of Wilder Publishing. KELLY: You know, it’s one thing when you republish ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover,’ its another when you slap that thing on the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Well- GALLAGHER: Warning children.

An ending… and beginning.

This was the most beautiful experience of my life and I have absolutely no regrets. Tuesday night was enormously emotional for us all and I could not be more proud of my father.  The person you saw on that stage was the gracious, honest and tender human being whom I have had the privilege to call “dad” for 24 years. My girls, Shannon and Heather, were there filming and taking photographs; however, this is the first time in the history of the Blogette that I have decided to keep the documentation for myself and my family and not publish it on the site. I hope everyone understands that I don’t feel as open to sharing such an emotional night as I once did.  It is not that I don’t believe our readers would be sensitive to the material, it is that I don’t believe that some in the media would. I want to thank all of you who have been with us on this ride.  We’ve received thousands of emails in the last few days and your words of encouragement and thanks have meant the world to Shannon, Heather, my family, and me.  I am always thrilled when we get frequent email from voters, both young and old, who have felt more connected to this moment in history and to my Dad as a result of this site. Thank you all for your support, prayers and encouragement. I hope that by showing you the perspective of a presidential campaign through the eyes of the candidate’s daughter, it has made the process more accessible to readers of all ages.  Hopefully, in the future, another crazy, independent child of a politician will also draw back the curtain on a journey that so few people get the chance to see up close, and not adhere to an image that is long overdue for change. This has truly been the most liberating experience of my life and I am grateful for every moment. Nothing like this happens without the support of some amazing people.  Frank, Melissa, Claire, Diane, Rob, Nancy and Josh have always been working behind the scenes and on the road to make this a success. I know it hasn’t always been easy, but I thank them so much for their perseverance and patience. They have meant so much to me through this experience and I truly could not have done it without them. Which brings me to Shannon and Heather. Quite simply, I would not have survived without you. You have been my friends through some of the highest, and lowest, points of my life. Through the good times and bad, you were always there for me and this would not have been possible without you. You are my best friends in the entire world and I will always love you both.  You are two of the most incredible people I have ever known and have the honor of calling my best friends. Finally, I want to thank the two people who made this all possible, my mom and dad. Not the business owner and the candidate, but the mother and father whose strength, generosity and selflessness have been such a source of inspiration to me and who are the core of who I am today.  I am so incredibly thankful for their love and support.  I am very much my father’s daughter and share many personality traits with him, but it is my mother who has always taught me to retain grace and class and to maintain a sense of humor during turbulent times.  She has showcased those traits to me more than ever in the past year and a half. To everyone else, you know who you are. And now this experience ends. So, where do I go from here? I ask my readers for time while I figure that out. Stay tuned and don’t get rid of this bookmark just yet! In the meantime, I am decompressing in Sedona, eating my Dad’s grilled ribs with my brothers, and playing “Rock Band” with Bridget. With much love and gratitude to all our badass readers!!! xoxoxo, Meghan Final Campaign Song of the Day: “Snow (Hey Oh)” by Vitamin String Quartet (This is what the end of the campaign feels like…)

Drake’s Thank Me Later Leak: Why Bloggers Aren’t Posting New Songs

‘Enough is enough,’ one blogger tells MTV News about the proliferation of leaked hip-hop albums. By Shaheem Reid Drake Photo: Rahman Dukes/MTV News Drake might be a budding superstar, but he’s gotta eat. That seems to be the consensus on the major hip-hop blogs, many of which have decided not to post more songs — many of them unfinished — from the Toronto MC’s forthcoming Thank Me Later LP, which leaked early Wednesday (June 2). Many times in the past — with Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III and Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak — we’ve seen blogs post a myriad of songs immediately after the album leaks. While they might not post the entire album, you’d get at least three new joints from it. With Drake, however, most blogs have decided to ignore Thank Me Later ‘s early, unplanned release. “Enough is enough,” Andrew Barber of FakeShoreDrive.com told MTV News on Wednesday. “I know, for my credibility, we kinda already take enough from the artists. I know it’s a give-and-take relationship, but we already take enough from the artists. At a certain point, you have to take a stand. Most ethical blogs won’t post the album or keep posting [individual songs]. At a certain point, you’re cutting into their sales. Its one thing to post a few songs, but to post every single song, that’s basically pirating. That’s where I draw the line.” “To be fair,” RapRadar.com founder Elliot Wilson said, “I think a lot of the sites, when the album fully leaks, they don’t put up the full album leaks. They kinda slowed down on the leaks and they’ll make the bold statement, they’ll decide, ‘This is the last leak we’re gonna put up from the project.’ ” Sure enough, on Wednesday morning, NahRight.com posted a CD-quality version of the Drake/Jay-Z lyrical throwdown “Light Up.” At the end of the post a message read: “Last Thank Me Later leak we’re posting here. June 15th.” “You’ve gotta credit Drake, especially with NahRight and other sites,” Wilson added. “He was well-connected to those guys. You do form relationships, and again, as a rap fan, you sort of think a lot of these bloggers are fans at the end of the day. They don’t want to hurt his sales. You start looking in the mirror — we got excited by [Jay Electronica’s] ‘Exhibit C.’ When it went to iTunes, we was rallying people to go buy it legally just to support the movement of this new energy in hip-hop. I think those people are taking stock and they want Drake to do well also. He comes from them. He has a line in the new album about the backpack guy who’s getting to this level. He did his due diligence. He went through the blogs. So much of So Far Gone ‘s initial ascent was from the blogs. In terms of good will, they don’t wanna come back now and do anything they feel could possibly hurt him.” NahRight is part of a conglomerate of blogs known as the New Music Cartel: YouHeardThatNew.com , 2DopeBoyz.com , DaJaz1.com , OnSmash.com , and XclusiveZones.net are also affiliated. The NMC has become known as the leading source of new hip-hop music to hit the Internet, even getting tracks before some top DJs. “I think many of the top blogs posted the memorable or anticipated tracks from the album for their readers but refused to post more,” XclusiveZone’s Mr. X said. “It’s not only because of Drake — I can speak for myself and possibly the NMC, we don’t post full albums. We give the readers a sample of what they want to hear but tell them to support [artists], and always plug in the release date. But with Drake, because the anticipation was so high, everyone expected us to post the full album. We want to see him go gold or platinum the first week. We aren’t trying to take from someone’s plate — we’re all trying to eat together. We never condone unauthorized leaks but if something does leak, it’s best to take it and move on. Look at Drake’s response to his album leaking : ‘I gave away free music for years so we’re good over here.’ That made me respect him even more. It’s better than crying about it. The track is already out. Enjoy the free promotion, I guess.” So the question is, will Drake’s leak hurt his album sales? Perhaps not — there hasn’t been a single hip-hop LP in recent memory that didn’t doesn’t get leaked. In Drake’s case, he may be one of the lucky ones: Some artists’ albums get leaked as far as a month out (in the case of Lil Wayne’s Rebirth , four months ). Thank Me Later hit the black market less than two weeks from its June 15 release date. “I don’t think it’s gonna hurt him,” Wilson said. “I think it’s close enough to the release date. There’s a lot of people that want to support him. This is a moment that we’ve been waiting for. I’ve been trying to figure out what this feels like and what makes this different. Even though this is a debut album, it’s not like 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ or Kanye’s College Dropout, in the sense of ‘this person really heated up the game.’ We all kind of like wanted to be a part of this guy celebrating and reaching that level. I feel like with this Drake situation, it’s kinda similar to Wayne where he’s already killed it on a lot of levels. He’s on so many hits, this is kind of like his ascension. If this record does get embraced the way people think it will be, it will [definitely make him] the next star — which reminds me of the way Tha Carter III went down, where Wayne set the table of him being the next dude but you needed the album to really prove it. Even though Drake is unproven as far as putting out a debut album, he’s been part of so much success already.” What do you think about Drake’s album leaking? Has this gone on long enough?
