Tim Tebow Denies Rift with Jets, Speaks Up for Character

A Tim Tebow trade will almost certainly go down this offseason, if the team doesn’t cut its backup quarterback outright. But while he’s still a member of this terrible organization, the maligned quarterback wants to set the record straight: No, he never refused to play for the squad during last week’s game against San Diego. Because Mark Sanchez sucks , he was benched in favor of Greg McElroy, with reports then surfacing that Tebow – offended over being passed over for the gig – told Rex Ryan not to use him at all in the game. Not even in the Wildcat formation for which his skill set is supposedly made. But Tebow spoke to The New York Daily News yesterday and clarified his stance. “That wasn’t the talk at all,” Tebow said of the rumored complaint. “[Coach Ryan] knows that. And everybody on this team knows that I would never not to do something if I was asked. … “For people to not know the situation and then start to bash your character and then say you’re a phony or you’re a fake or you’re a hypocrite, I think that’s what’s disappointing and that’s what’s frustrating. Your character is who you are as a man and that’s a lot more important… I take that way more serious than I’ll ever take a football game.” Tebow was clearly brought in by New York as some kind of PR gimmick, seeing as the team hasn’t bothered to play him for any extended time. But he didn’t sound bitter in the newspaper interview. He just wanted to clear his good name and not come across as a prima donna. “You work your whole life to build a reputation,” Tebow said. “Then people try to bring you down when they don’t understand even what happened. It’s disappointing. You just want to express your side of the story… You want people to look at what really happened, not what one person said.” We believe, you, Tim Tebow. And we also believe the Jets are an awful football team.

Dr. Conrad Murray Writing Michael Jackson Tell-All, Publishers Couldn’t Be Less Interested

Dr. Conrad Murray is writing a tell-all book. Hey, he has to pass the time wasting away in jail somehow. The number of publishers who care is not high, however. “Dr. Murray spends most of his days writing what he [says] is a tell-all book about what really happened in the final days of Michael Jackson’s life,” a source to him says. “Murray believes that the public will want to hear about the time he spent with Michael … he says that Michael confided his inner-most secrets about his true feelings.” “[MJ talked] about his family, the child molestation trial and his three children. Murray contends that Michael’s kids viewed him as a family member and loved him.” True or not, it all boils down to Murray’s boredom. And cash flow problems. “This is all about money for Murray though … he is flat broke and desperately needs the cash ,” the source adds. “He feels that the book could help rehab his image.” Jackson’s former physician was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of the music great and was sentenced to four years in jail. Attempts to portray himself as a sympathetic figure would be hard enough, but add in the fact that Murray has shown no remorse and it’s darn near impossible. Dude even ripped Katherine Jackson , Michael’s mother, for not being there for him. ” Conrad Murray is extremely arrogant and doesn’t accept responsibility for the death of Michael Jackson. He truly believes he has done nothing wrong,” the insider says. As a result, when contacted by reps about potential interest in releasing the book by Murray, publishers’ collective response so far has been, “no thanks.” Let’s all cry a river for that, shall we?

Roger Federer’s Twins: Cutest Tennis Fans Ever?

Roger Federer won his 17th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon Sunday, but it was the first in which the tennis legend’s twin daughters joined in the celebration. As if the trophy presentation wasn’t emotional enough after Andy Murray’s runner-up speech , the world got to see Myla and Charlene Federer, 2, cheer on dad. Wearing identical black and white dresses and matching pigtails, the blonde cuties sat with their mom, Mirka, who has been married to Roger since 2009: Helping out with the twin toddlers: Federer’s mother, Lynette. The foursome were cheering and applauding in the stands as Federer, 30, bested Murray, 25, in his bid to become the UK’s first homegrown winner since 1936. Roger made a big deal out of his little girls during the last two weeks, taking them onto Centre Court with him to experience Wimbledon for the first time. Myla and Charlene weren’t the only stylish siblings in the stands. Pippa and Kate Middleton sat side by side while crossing their fingers for a Murray victory. Unfortunately for the Duchess and her sister, it was not to be. But it’s awfully hard not to like Federer, even before you see those adorable little kids.

Elizabeth Edwards Used Rielle Hunter Screensaver Pic to Torment John, Home-Wrecker Claims

Rielle Hunter’s new tell-all What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter, and Me contains many seedy revelations, but this one may take the cake. Elizabeth Edwards kept a photo of John Edwards and Rielle as her screensaver to not-so-subtly torment her cheating husband, Hunter claims in her book. In a book excerpt printed in People , Hunter, who bashes Elizabeth Edwards repeatedly, described how the cancer-stricken wife first reacted to their affair: “Elizabeth requested all the tapes (I’d made of the campaign, as a videographer). On one tape she saw Johnny walking into a room and his reaction to seeing me.” “She apparently told him that he never once looked at her the way he looked at me. So she took that bit and put it on her computer as a screen saver.” “The poor woman thought she was tormenting her cheating husband, using the image as a painful reminder of his foolish, political career-killing indiscretion.” “But in an attempt to punish John, Elizabeth was ultimately just tormenting herself.” If one can be tormented in the afterlife by events here on Earth, she likely is by Hunter and her book. Especially this excerpt near the end: “I’m still in love with John. That didn’t go away, shockingly enough. Marriage? I have no idea. I’m not a big fan of the institution, but never say never.” Except that Rielle Hunter and John Edwards just broke up. Oh well.

My names Kelly and finally after 3 years, I have a Bieber…

My names Kelly and finally after 3 years, I have a Bieber Experience. So unforgettable. It all started on June 14th on a trip to camp out for Justin on the Today Show with my bestfriend Miranda. After arriving, setting up our area and a couple hours of downtime, we saw Maxwell from Q102 on the corner. I ran up to him and turns out he had just come from lunch with Justin. After about 10 minutes or more of begging, he finally told a small group of us he was doing an interview at Sirius XM. Miranda and I GPS’d it and we were off. Having no idea where we were going, we passed it but on our way back I spotted the place Justin had lunch. Next to it was about 5 black Escalades and decided that was probably Justin. As I turned the corner, I spotted a group and coming out was Kenny. I ran faster than I ever have in my life and got there right in time. Justin was getting in his car and I got right in front and couldn’t get anything out of my mouth expect, “OHMYGOD OHMYGOD.” All I could think was I need a to get a picture (which really didn’t work so well since I could stand still) but I did get one, it’s really blurry but it’s him. The only think I could do was stick my hand and he held it and that’s when I really lost it. I started crying and all he did was smile and laugh . For about a half hour, all I could do was cry. I couldn’t believe after 3 years it really happened. And so unexpected. That just makes it so much more special I think. Although I didn’t get a picture or get to tell him all the things I’ve ever wanted to, I still wouldn’t change a thing. That whole night I couldn’t stop thinking about it, I didn’t think anything would be able to beat that and it really made camping out in the streets of NYC worth the wait for seeing him on the Today Show. The next morning they started moving us for the concert. I was pretty far back so I didn’t expect to get close (and I was right) when the concert started, I couldn’t see him at all for the whole concert which was upsetting but I still felt lucky to be there. I had always wanted to go and although I couldn’t see him I still could hear him and that’s all that matters. Those two days are days I will never ever forget and will never regret. Katy Perry Breaks Silence On Divorce

‘There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming,’ Perry says in a new interview. By Gil Kaufman Katy Perry on the cover of Hollywood Reporter Photo: Katy Perry has been mum on the details of her divorce
from Russell Brand. But in a new cover story in the Hollywood Reporter Perry gives a peek into the difficulty she faced in the split, as well as her plans to launch her own record label. ‘There were times when what was going on in my personal life was so overwhelming that I had to bend over to let those tears fall straight out of my eyes and not my false lashes just as I’m about to go up on that ramp and sing ‘Teenage Dream,'” she said. Speaking in advance of the release of her 3D concert documentary, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,”
the 27-year-old pop singer said it’s impossible for anyone else to know what went on inside her brief marriage to the British comedian. “Nobody knows what really happened except the two people who are in it.” Part of her vision for the movie was to document her relationship with Brand as it crumbled just as her career was launching into the stratosphere with a record-breaking string of hit singles from Teenage Dream . That kind of honesty was in keeping with her heart-on-sleeve method of writing songs and she said, “Honesty has always worked for me … so if it ain’t broke, why f—ing fix it?” After putting up $2 million of her own money to make “Part of Me” a reality, Perry and her team are expecting the movie to have an opening to rival Justin Bieber’s “Never Say Never” $30 million first weekend. First, though, she had to convince her nervous business manager that it was worth dropping the cash to film her November 2011 concert at Los Angeles’ Staples Center in 3D. “I was like, ‘Please trust me,'” she said she told him. “That’s kind of been the mantra I’ve said to everyone my whole life: ‘Trust me, I have a vision.'” That same vision came into play in the recently released video for “Wide Awake,” which Perry wrote for the film and which ends with a shot of her triumphantly ascending to the stage during her smash California Dreams Tour. Regardless of how the movie does, the relentlessly drive Perry has other business ventures in mind, including launching her own record imprint. Her as-yet-unnamed label will help give struggling artists a hand up in the same way that some music industry folks took a chance on Perry early on. “When it does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success,” she said. “As people are coming to me with opportunities, I’m thinking, ‘How would I want to be treated?'” Check out everything we’ve got on “Katy Perry: Part of Me.”

Joel Kinnaman Talks ‘Gritty’ RoboCop Reboot While Samuel L. Jackson Joins Cast

It’s been 25 years since Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop painted a nightmare vision of a near future in which a cyborg policeman became humanity’s salvation — so how will the upcoming reboot, starring Swedish-American actor Joel Kinnaman (AKA Holder of TV’s The Killing ), update the tale? Movieline spoke with Kinnaman, who continues his Hollywood cross-over attempt in Friday’s New York drama Lola Versus , about Jose Padilha ’s RoboCop — and the real-world technology that suggests we’re already in a much different future than the original envisioned. Not convinced that the robot future is close at hand? Just take a look at the cyborg advances that have been made in Japan, where Kinnaman joked he’d be going to spend time with lifelike robots in preparation for his RoboCop role. “Have you seen these Japanese hospital droids, or humanoids or whatever they call them? They’ve perfected the skin, the skin looks so real, and they have these motors between the eyes for when they smile,” he marveled. “It’s just mind-blowing. We’re pretty close already. You can find it on YouTube. It’s spooky, but we’re getting really close.” Kinnaman says shooting on the remake begins for him in September, with Gary Oldman on board to play Norton, a scientist responsible for turning the human Alex Murphy into RoboCop. Today, THR broke the news that Samuel L. Jackson playing “Pat Novak, a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world.” As for writer-director Padilha ( Elite Squad , Elite Squad 2 ), Kinnaman had high praise. “He’s a young master, and a very strong visionary, and he wants to make something with a lot of substance, he said. “If you’ve seen Elite Squad then you know the action sequences are a walk in the park for him, he can portray action very realistically – and that’s how he wants to do this movie.” “It takes place in the future and it’s RoboCop , but it’s still going to feel like a gritty, down to earth movie,” he added. “With a lot of fireworks around it, but…” Back in September, Padilha spoke with Movieline describing his take on RoboCop and the deeper questions his version will explore: Even looking at the first RoboCop , which is a film that I love, it’s not local in that sense; it has an acid critique of society as a whole and it also deals with different subject matter that is more universal, like what is it like to replace people with automatic systems? A lot of jobs today are being automated; what happens when you extend that concept to very important areas of society like law enforcement? What happens if you start controlling the behavior of criminals or people in general with software-running machines? Those questions, they look like they’re sci-fi but they’re not. Pretty soon we’ll have robots in our society, you’re going to have a lot of automated processes that used to be done by people – this is happening. Society and technology is changing so fast, and the impact of the change on society and technology is global, not local. RoboCop talks a little bit about this. What does it mean to replace a person or enhance a person by using technology? What does that do to the person themselves? What sort of drama does it create, what sort of philosophical questions lurk behind those things? Kinnaman, meanwhile, has said his and Padilha’s approach to the character is more of an “acting piece” than Peter Weller’s original turn; a reported costume update means his eyes will be more visible, for starters. Asked to elaborate, he offered this explanation of how their RoboCop will differ from Verhoeven’s: “It just comes from the realization that our vision of a robot 30 years from now is very different from the vision of what a robot was in the future in 1987. That is the main thing. Obviously there are some things in the script that lead into that, but that stuff I can’t talk about.” Check back for the full Movieline interview this week.
