Jeremy London Files Restraining Orders Against Mother, Brother

Actor wants family members, who expressed doubts about his alleged abduction, to stop talking to the press. By Gil Kaufman Jeremy London Photo: Charley Gallay/WireImage Following their doubts about his alleged abduction and forced drug-taking claims, actor Jeremy London filed restraining orders against his twin brother, Jason, their mother, Deborah Nielsen, and Jason’s girlfriend, Sofia Karstens, on Wednesday, according to People magazine. “Jeremy filed these orders against his family for them to stop giving unauthorized interviews to the press,” the former “Party of Five” actor’s attorney Catherine Lombardo told the magazine. “What they’ve said is false, misleading and harmful to his personal reputation and career.” London’s family has publicly questioned his version of the events that took place on June 10 in Palm Springs, California. The 37-year-old actor, a recovering addict, has claimed that after three men stopped to help him change a flat tire, they abducted him and held him at gunpoint, forcing him to drive around for five hours and smoke crack cocaine and amphetamines and then purchase alcohol and hand it out in a drug-infested area of Palm Springs. Brother Jason issued a public plea shortly after the alleged incident in which he urged Jeremy to get psychological help and drug treatment. Jeremy London admitted to People that he has fought to stay sober and is in the midst of financial troubles as he goes through a bitter custody battle with his ex-wife, Melissa, over their 3-year-old son, Lyrik. “We believe what the family is saying is harmful to the ongoing investigation,” Lombardo said. “The police have already arrested and charged a suspect in the case.” The suspect, 26-year-old Brandon Adams, has pleaded not guilty after being charged with kidnapping, robbery, possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and carjacking. The investigation in the case is ongoing and police have said Jeremy London is not under suspicion. London has vehemently refuted questions about whether the kidnapping and forced drug-taking incident really happened. Radar magazine recently reported that ex-wife Melissa, who has allegedly also struggled with substance abuse, backed him up. “Police told us this is the new thing to do down here,” she said of the bizarre crime. “Rob people at gunpoint and make them do drugs so they won’t be reliable witnesses. It’s happening more and more.” A spokesperson for the Palm Springs police department responded, “We have not had a rash of them — they are not commonplace here.” Jason London told People that the restraining orders won’t stop the family from trying to help his brother, who, according to Jason, has shut out his family for the past six months. “A restraining order isn’t going to make us stop worrying about Jeremy and only wanting the best for him,” he said.

‘Today’ Shows Cop-Punch 14 Times, Leaves Out Suspect Resisting Arrest

width=”250″ height=”202″> The headline sounds sensational: “Cop punches girl in face during jaywalk arrest.” That’s how the June 17 NBC “Today” show began what might appear to be an even-handed story. But a closer look at what the network aired and what it left out show a far different result. The morning segment repeatedly played a clip highlighting what Matt Lauer referred to as a “violent arrest” – a police officer punching a young woman who interfered in the arrest of the jaywalker. That clip was shown 14 times during the segment. After the first showing of the clip, Lee Cowan told viewers, “Watch again, he closes his fist, winds up and lands a hard right to her face.” Time and again, the segment returned to the video clip showing the police officer punch the 17-year-old. Here’s what they left out. (full video below the fold) The punch didn’t end the incident at all. The YouTube video of the arrest tells a far different tale. After the punch, the 19-year-old continued to wrestle and resist being handcuffed for approximately another minute and 44 seconds. The 19-year-old jaywalker was also confrontational. Prior to the punch, she used the phrase, “get the f— off me” four times. While resisting arrest the young woman used the same expression another 10 times. On “Today”, the phrase can only be heard twice prior to the punch and Cowan talked over the second time. So what really happened was a young woman resisted arrest. Her friend, roughly the same height as the police officer, interfered and shoved the officer. He then punched her to subdue her. That punch was shown by “Today” 14 times. The original woman who fended off the police officer, told him to “get the f— off me” 14 times and that was clearly audible only once during the report. The story spin didn’t end there. “Today” interviewed Don Van Blaricom, a former Bellevue, Wash., police chief who consults on police litigation. He said the punch was a reasonable force to subdue the situation. Lauer asked both Blaricom and Rev. Al Sharpton if the event had been racially motivated. Blaricom said this: “I saw no evidence of racial animus whatsoever and that’s usually signaled by racial overtones, some racial epithet. This officer was calling the crowd ‘sir.'” That clip also never appeared on the broadcast but it was clearly in the original video at 2:30 in. The man filming the incident asks the officer why he punched the young woman and the officer says, “Step back, sir.” But “Today” drove the racial point home by relying on Sharpton, a “civil rights activist,” as Lauer described him. Nowhere in the piece did it detail Sharpton’s own racial controversies. In the 1987 Tawana Brawley case, he slandered an innocent man in the course of defending an infamous “race crime” hoax. He was sued and lost a judgment for $345,000, without ever retracting or apologizing for his accusation. Like this article? REVIEW: Bracing John Rabe Revisits the Horror and Drama of Nanking

It’s hard to know why movies that tell completely made-up stories often feel more real than those that tell true ones. Maybe it’s because fictionalized versions of real-life events always stir up questions not just about what really happened, but about how that something happened. Watching a filmmaker interpret those events dramatically demands that we trust him or her implicitly: A fiction film based on real events is a kind of shaped reality, which isn’t, of course, reality at all. The best we can do is to trust a filmmaker’s instincts, and his heart.

Bill Clinton: Goldman Sachs Did Nothing Illegal

Former President Bill Clinton says it is “time to lower the rhetoric and talk about the facts,” in reference to the government's scrutiny of Wall Street. In an exclusive interview with Maria Bartiromo, Clinton noted that while many financial firms are being questioned by the Securities and Exchange Commission, he does not believe that Goldman Sachs or CEO Lloyd Blankfein did anything illegal, based on what he's seeing. The SEC has been probing the mortgage operations of major banks, but so far has only charged Goldman with civil fraud. The firm has said it will fight the charges and has vigorously denied any wrongdoing. Clinton says “what we ought to do is have an honest conversation about what really happened, how to fix it, and how to get what's best about vital capital markets.” more at link… An “honest conversation about what really happened” just came out of the mouth of Bill Clinton, a guy who made his career by being the best liar in the business. I guess Ponzi schemes and financial terrorism is standard practice. How about raping and pillaging? Obviously treason is legal; how else are all the same cast of Benedict Arnolds still walking around, making billions by stealing our money. It was under Bill Clinton in 1999 when his cronies, Larry Summers, Alan Greenspan, Robert Rubin repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, which is the most important Post-Depression safeguard and protector of the citizen's cash. From that point forward, the floodgates were opened for the banking oligarchs to further bankrupt this nation. Who's running the Obama white house from behind the scenes? Rahm Emanuel and Larry Summers with his puppet, little Timmy Geithner. Even Elena Kagan, Supreme Court nominee, worked for Goldman Sachs as a top adviser, where she gave “expert advice to clients.” Also, she was at Harvard with Larry Summers. Are you kidding me? End the Fed…its a private, banking cartel that is purposefully tanking our currency b/c its leaders want a New World Order and a corporate-fascist dictatorship across the globe. Bill Clinton and everyone else in Washington works for Goldman Sachs b/c they have a monopoly on the issuance of currency via the mafioso institution known as the Federal Reserve. added by: rodstradamus

Phil Spector Receives Ass-Kicking in Jail

Phil Spector has already been roughed up by the legal system. Now the convicted killer and certified creep is receiving a new taste of jail house justice! The hot-tempered music legend is minding his tongue after having several teeth knocked out by a fellow inmate at the state prison in Corcoran, Calif. “Phil has quite a mouth on him,” says longtime pal Steven Escobar. “Not everyone understands his humor. He said the wrong thing to the wrong inmate.” Lacking any of his trusty firearms, poor Phil Spector wound up with a bruised nose, a black eye and the loss of a couple of caps, according to Escobar. This is Phil Spector. This is just terrifying . “He mouthed off to a big guy, who punched him,” a source says of Phil, who’s serving 19 years to life for shooting Lana Clarkson in the mouth in 2003. “At first, Phil said that he fell down a flight of stairs,” says Escobar of his incarcerated buddy. “Later, he told family and friends what really happened.” A spokesman for Spector’s wife, Rachelle, initially corroborated that there was a jail house incident in November, telling the N.Y. Daily News: “There are safety concerns.” “We don’t want the people who put him in this position to retaliate.” Rachelle did a 180, saying: “Phil was not assaulted. Absolutely not.” Mmm hmm.
