Kanye West Blames “Voices In His Head” For Grammy Tantrum In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Feb. 11, Kanye blamed “the voices in his head” for cheering him on and pushing him to run up onto the stage during Beck’s Album of the Year acceptance speech. But he insisted that he in no way meant to diminish Beck’s artistry or his music achievement. “Beck is one of the nicest guys and one of the most respected musicians in the game. So there’s nothing that I would want to do as a fellow musician to disrespect him in any way,” he said. But he also insinuated that he kind of did Beck a favor…in his own Yeezy way — and Taylor Swift actually agreed. “The weird thing is, I don’t feel like I have the right to take away from people’s moments. But the reality of it is — and case in point by who came up to me right afterwards — it’s like a chiropractor. You just get a little crook out that’s been there — just a little jolt of truth. Right? Marvel Fans Want Miles Morales Played By Donald Glover To Be Next Spiderman Should Donald Glover be the next Spiderman?? Via The Verge reports: Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures brokered one of the biggest deals in cinema history last night. Going forward, Spider-Man will join Captain America and Iron Man as a proud member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). That this move is a game-changer cannot be understated. After slogging through a botched Sony reboot, audiences can finally expect Spidey, one of the most esteemed — and valuable — superheroes ever created, to take his rightful place beside the Avengers. As Marvel’s statement reads, “Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together. This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future.” There’s just one problem: With Andrew Garfield allegedly out, we don’t need Peter Parker at the movies anymore. We need Miles Morales. Who’s Miles Morales? (Minor spoiler alert.) He’s the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate comics imprint, a half-black, half-Latino 13-year-old who took on the role of Spider-Man after Peter Parker’s death at the hands of the Green Goblin in 2011. He’s also the Spider-Man who deserves a place in the MCU. Now, no one can question that Spider-Man and Peter Parker are inexorably linked and have been for more than half a century. That said, Miles Morales as a character is something fresher, and he’s someone who’s more than just Peter Parker’s successor. It took Parker dying for Miles to take up the mantle, and he has come into his own as a superhero in the years since, complete with a supporting cast and rogues’ gallery that’s grown up and out of Peter’s. He’s lost loved ones and triumphed over adversity just like the original Spidey did, but he’s not at all a carbon copy of what came before. He’s something new, all while being an extension of everything that made Parker great to begin with. But most important is the fact that Miles Morales represents the future of comics, not just of Spider-Man, and that future needs to live on movie screens. It was no accident that the #donald4spiderman campaign gained such momentum back in 2010, right before the first reboot. If you imagined Donald Glover as Spider-Man then, try it again now. If 2012 wasn’t the right moment, now is. Peter Parker doesn’t have to look like a white guy from Forest Hills, Queens. He can be a Black Hispanic kid from Brooklyn, right alongside a kooky Japanese motorcycle racer with a giant robot. The point is, he can be anyone, and we’ll still know that with great power must also come great responsibility. Marvel must know it has a heavy duty when it comes to the people it chooses to play its superheroes. At a time when comics companies are collectively getting better at acknowledging their entire fanbases on the page, they shouldn’t be slow-footed in theaters. And steps have already been made; Fox execs already cast Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Just because they could. Studios should be willing to take these risks, and now’s the time. Whoever Marvel and Sony choose to play Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will get to play one of the finest superheroes out there, likely for years to come, and that’s a tremendous honor. More details have been released on the circumstances that led Atlanta-area police to begin looking at Bobbi Kristina’s “husband” Nick Gordon on suspicion of foul play . It turns out the suspicious injuries that piqued investigators’ interest were on her face, and seem to have been acquired before she ended up face down in her bathtub. Via TMZ : Bobbi Kristina suffered injuries to her face before she was found submerged in a bathtub — according to a report — and that sparked the investigation focusing on her boyfriend Nick Gordon. As TMZ first reported … Roswell PD started taking a closer look at Nick and Bobbi Kristina’s relationship after certain injuries raised their concerns. WSB-TV in Atlanta says sources close to the investigation tell them the marks were on her face … and more specifically, her mouth. As we’ve told you … multiple sources say there is a history of violence in their relationship — and their friend Max Lomas told police Nick was acting strangely before they found Bobbi Kristina. Greg Hardy’s Domestic Violence Case Dismissed As Abused Girlfriend Didn’t Show Up Court Via CharlotteObserver Greg Hardy’s domestic-abuse case was abruptly dismissed Monday because his accuser – who is believed to have reached an undisclosed civil settlement with the Carolina Panthers’ Pro-Bowl defensive end – could not be found to testify. Nicole Holder, Hardy’s ex-girlfriend, told prosecutors last fall she did not want to go through another trial after Hardy’s initial conviction in July 2014, District Attorney Andrew Murray said in a statement Monday as jury selection was about to get underway at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. Hardy, who came to court in a dark, pin-striped suit and white $600 Balenciagas tennis shoes, appeared impassive as the decision was revealed. He said nothing, and his attorney, Chris Fialko, would not take questions. Since November, efforts to contact Holder and serve her with a subpoena have been fruitless, Murray said, despite “extraordinary measures” that included police staking out the addresses where she was believed to be living and requests to relatives to have her come forward. Murray said that he understood Holder had reached an independent settlement with Hardy. Holder’s attorney, Daniel Zamora of Charlotte, did not return a phone call Monday morning. In the days leading up to Hardy’s trial, Zamora refused to say whether Holder would appear. In July, with Holder at his side, Zamora said Hardy’s conviction “sent a strong message to the people of Mecklenburg County that it doesn’t matter if you’re an average Joe or if you’re a professional athlete that plays for the Carolina Panthers: If you assault a woman and you communicate to that woman that you will kill them, you will be arrested. You will be prosecuted, and you will be convicted.” Speaking briefly with reporters after the cased was dismissed, Murray said his office remains committed to prosecuting domestic abuse cases. In many cases, prosecutors go to trial without the cooperation of victims, who may change their minds on bringing charges or fear reprisals from their attackers. Woman Kills Friend With Crockpot A Detroit woman is making headlines for killing her friend with a crockpot after they argued over politics. Inquistr reports: A 50-year-old Michigan woman, Tewana Sullivan, beat her friend to death with a slow cooker over a heated political debate, and was initially charged with assault with intent to kill, according to CBS News. However, once the Detroit judge learned of her friend’s demise, he upgraded her charge to first-degree murder. On October 22, 2014, Detroit police officers arrived at the home of 66-year-old Cheryl Livy in a Livona senior living housing complex at 10:45 p.m., where they discovered her bloodied and barely breathing. Next to her badly beaten body was her hysterical and irate friend, Sullivan, hovering over her saying, “I’m sorry. I did it. I’m sorry. I did it. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” “She was sobbing. She was crying,” according to officer Michael Lewallen, who was one of the first officers at the scene. She too was drenched in blood, and the walls contained splatters of Livy’s blood. Police officer Thomas Blauvelt stated that upon his arrival, the cord of a busted slow cooker was wrapped around Livy’s neck. “The crockpot is busted over her head with the cord around her throat. Sullivan repeatedly beat her friend to death with a slow cooker that Livy owned until police officers came the housing complex at Purlingbrook. Police officials say when they arrived, the assailant “seemed disoriented,” and a test confirmed that she was under the influence. Sullivan’s initial charges were assault with intent to kill, but when Livy died from the injuries she sustained during the slow cooker beating, her charges were changed by a Detroit judge to first-degree murder, which requires a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. NFL Networks Are Reportedly Glad That Warren Sapp Was Fired For Solicting Prostitutes After all, colleagues have the gall, to pray, and pray on Sapp’s downfall… According to TMZ reports : Warren Sapp wasn’t exactly Mr. Congeniality at the NFL Network — with a whole bunch of employees telling TMZ Sports they’re GLAD he’s gone … because he was a nightmare to work with. We broke the story … Sapp was fired from his gig as an analyst for the NFL Network after he was arrested for soliciting prostitutes in AZ last Monday. Now, after speaking with nearly a DOZEN current and former employees … everyone is telling us the same thing — GOOD RIDDANCE!! In fact, the people we spoke with … ranging from low-level people all the way up to big shots … told us there was an unofficial “Sapp Disclaimer” when it came to interacting with the Hall of Famer. Yes, Warren Sapp has very specific rules of engagement when dealing with human beings. Among the highlights: -Don’t look Warren in the eyes (seriously). -Introduce yourself, but DO NOT try to befriend him. -Call him Warren. NEVER call him “Sapp.” Of course, there are Sapp supporters … but even they couldn’t really defend the guy. As one person put it, “I know certain people [at the Network] complained about the guy a lot but overall he was always cool … just unpredictable.” Another person told us, “Warren has had one too many chances to get it right, and it just didn’t work out for him. We all wish him well in the end.” As for his tough reputation around the office, it’s not the first time we’ve heard that about Sapp — back when he was on “Dancing with the Stars” he was known as the “diva” on set … and was constantly causing problems. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … the LAPD got a call from someone saying Chris’ passenger was carrying a gun. Chris was already inside Sayer nightclub in Hollywood, but the cops were able to coral the friend, detain him and search Chris’ Lambo. They found nothing. Chris was attending TI’s pre-Grammy party when it went down. Cops are well aware trouble sometimes finds him. You’ll recall he was performing at a VMA party at 1OAK last Summer when shots rang out and Suge Knight was hit 6 times. Last month 5 people were shot when Brown was performing in San Jose. Poll Shows Most Americans Business Have A Right To Deny Gays Via The Grio reports: While finding that Americans narrowly favor allowing gay and lesbian couples to legally marry, a new Associated Press-GfK poll also shows most believe wedding-related businesses should be allowed to deny service to same-sex couples for religious reasons. Roughly half the country also thinks local officials and judges with religious objections ought to be exempt from any requirement that they issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples, according to the poll. That view of the same-sex marriage issue echoes that of the Mormon church. Last week, the church called on state legislatures to pass new laws that protect gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people from discrimination but also to protect the rights of those who assert their religious beliefs. David Kenney, a self-employed Catholic from Novi, Michigan, said he’s fine with same-sex marriage being legal. He’s among the 57 percent of Americans who said wedding-related businesses — such as florists — should be allowed to refuse service if they have an objection rooted in their religion. “Why make an issue out of one florist when there are probably thousands of florists?” asked Kenney, 59. “The gay community wants people to understand their position, but at the same time, they don’t want to understand other people’s religious convictions. It’s a two-way street.” Kenney isn’t alone. About a quarter of those who favor legal same-sex marriage also favor religious exemptions for those who issue marriage licenses, the poll finds, and a third say wedding-related businesses should be allowed to refuse service. Geri Rice, who lives near San Francisco and works in law firm management, strongly favors gay marriage. She’s torn about whether a public official with religious objections should be exempt from issuing a license but says she believes that business owners should be allowed to tell somebody no thanks. “I don’t like it,” Rice said, “but I think they have the right.” Whether a business can refuse service to someone is a matter of federal, state and local law. National gay-rights groups called the idea of trying to carve out religious exemptions in anti-discrimination statues, such as those proposed by leaders of the Mormon church, deeply flawed. James Esseks, who directs the LGBT project of the American Civil Liberties Union, said the First Amendment’s protection of religious freedom “does not give any of us the right to harm others, and that’s what it sounds like the proposal from the Mormon church would do.” The poll found that 44 percent of Americans favor and 39 percent oppose legal same-sex marriage in their own states, while 15 percent expressed no opinion.
