Johnny Football Checks Into Rebab Treatment Center Time for Johnny Football to become Johnny Sober… Via TMZ reports: A rep for the Cleveland Browns issued a statement saying, “Brad Beckworth, friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny entered treatment on Wednesday.” “Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step.” “On behalf of Johnny and his family, we’re asking for..privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland.” The Browns did not say exactly why Manziel is being treated — but it seems pretty obvious … considering his penchant for partying. Earlier this season, ESPN’s Skip Bayless said he’d spoken with several people close to the Browns QB and was convinced Johnny is an alcoholic. Johnny responded to the criticism by hitting the bar scene — and after the season, was seen chugging champagne at a hotel pool. And then there’s this… Welp.
New England Patriots Win Super Bowl XLIX There was a good bit of back and forth between the two teams for all four quarters, but the most action packed portion came in the last two nail-biting minutes of the game. Via USA Today : The ads were depressing and the halftime show was bizarre. But, oh, what a game. And, oh, what sweet redemption for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in their 28-24 Super Bowl XLIX win over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks. The show on the field was the most entertaining part by far of this Super Bowl – no small thing in the annual spectacle that is part sport and many more parts circus. The second quarter alone will have folks talking for years – and certainly made up for that awful Nationwide commercial. (Whoever created that has less job security than Tharold Simon, by the way.) And the last two minutes deserve instant classic status if ever anything did. Trailing by four with less than two minutes to play, Russell Wilson lofted a pass that bounced off Jermaine Kearse’s left leg and right knee before popping into the air. Kearse flailed for the ball, only to have it bounce off his hands once, twice, three times before he pulled it into his chest for a 33-yard catch that put the Seahawks at the New England 5. But two plays later, Malcolm Butler picked Wilson off, sealing New England’s first title in 10 years. The big names delivered on their advance billing. Marshawn Lynch went Beast Mode with 133 total yards and a rushing touchdown. Rob Gronkowski gave all of Twitter a case of the giggles when he spiked the ball so hard after his 22-yard TD catch it left a divot in the end zone. Cue your own Deflategate joke here. Man Arrested After Hiding Cocaine Inside Prosthetic Leg Sir… Via KPHO Police say a Delaware drug suspect went out on a limb to transport a stash of cocaine, but he was busted when officers discovered the drug hidden inside his prosthetic leg. Dover Police say 39-year-old Marlow Holmes was arrested Monday afternoon during a traffic stop. They said police dogs alerted officers to the presence of narcotics inside the car Holmes had been riding in. During a search of the car officers said they discovered more than 28 grams of cocaine stuffed into the prosthetic leg that Holmes was wearing, and arrested him. Police say Holmes faces charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed, with bond set at $81,000. Suge Knight Involved In Hit And Run Death Suge Knight just can’t seem to stay out of sticky situations . After a particularly rough 2014 (getting shot, getting sick, getting arrested), he’s starting off the new year with possible murder charges under his belt. Via TMZ : Suge Knight got into a fight on the set of a film project in Compton, ran over a man who later died, and then fled the scene. Multiple witnesses tell us a movie shoot was going down with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre when Suge pulled up in his car. We’re told security told Suge to leave and that’s when trouble began. A fight broke out between Suge and 2 men. Suge got back into his car, took the wheel and threw the vehicle in reverse … and ran over a man who suffered fatal injuries. It’s unclear at this point if the victim was connected to the film project. Sources connected with Suge tell TMZ … the 2 men who fought Suge were the instigators. Our sources say Suge was scared because he’s in frail health — in addition to being shot 6 times last summer, he recently almost died from a blood clot. The victim is Terry Carter, who we’re told is a friend of Suge’s who arrived with him at the scene. Our sources say Carter was in the process of walking to the passenger door of Suge’s vehicle, but happened to be in the rear when Suge gunned it. Two other men were also hit … including Cle “Bone” Sloane — who’s appeared in “Training Day” and “End of Watch” — and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both men are in the hospital. This could mean some SERIOUSLY bad news for Suge. TMZ reports that Suge’s lawyer is currently arranging for him to turn himself in to the Sheriff’s Dept. At this point, it isn’t clear if he’ll be arrested for hit and run, manslaughter — or if he’ll be free to go because it was all an accident that resulted him running from a legit threat. Black Transgender Woman Tyrone Lee Underwood Shot To Death In Texas When will the hate crimes against the transgender community end?? Via CBS 19 TV reports: Tyler Police detectives are searching for clues after a transgender woman was shot to death early Monday morning. Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Tyrone Lee Underwood, but on social media and to her friends, she was known as Ty. Investigators say she was found murdered early this morning on Twenty-Fourth Street in North Tyler. “She was lovely, just a lovely person. Very real, down to earth person who didn’t deserve this, did not deserve this at all,” Underwood’s roommate Coy Simmons said. A woman called 911 saying a car had hit a telephone pole and that her children heard gunshots. Underwood’s roommate believes Underwood was targeted because she is a transgender person. “This has to be a hate crime, this has to be a hate crime, nothing else because that was an upstanding person with a good heart,” Simmons said. Tyler Police detectives do have a few leads, but nothing substantial enough to lead to a warrant. “We will follow any leads that come in, we will follow them completely because this was a senseless murder,” Detective Andy Erbaugh said. Detective Erbaugh believes Underwood was in or near her car when shots were fired. She then tried to drive off, but the car got stuck in a grassy area. “There were several indicators that there may be bullets fired at the vehicle but we just pulled the vehicles here at the police department and it will be searched pursuant to a search warrant,” Erbaugh said. Underwood’s friends and family want closure. “If you know anything, please come forward, if you know anyone who knows anything, please come forward. We don’t know anything,” Simmons said. Underwood’s friends tell us she works as a nursing assistant at a local nursing home and was recently accepted into the nursing program at Kilgore College in Longview. Missing Elderly Georgia Couple Found Dead This is truly a sad story . Via NYDN : The search for an elderly Georgia couple that went missing after trying to buy a vintage car on Craigslist came to a tragic end after authorities pulled the couple’s SUV from a rural pond and found two bodies, each shot in the head, Monday in a patch of woods nearby. Police positively identified the dead as 69-year-old Bud Runion and his wife, 66-year-old June Runion, one day after their missing 2003 GMC Envoy was pulled from a lake near McRae on Monday, the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office said. Ronnie Adrian (Jay) Towns, 28, has been charged with murdering and robbing the couple, authorities said Tuesday afternoon. Police believe the couple headed to the rural town from their Marietta home Thursday afternoon in search of a 1966 Ford Mustang they’d offered to buy on Craigslist. Towns allegedly lured them to McRae with the promise of the car, which he never had, authorities said. Towns was originally charged Monday with giving false statements and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. The missing car was found near property owned by Towns, officials said. He’s due in court Tuesday. SMH! Some people are truly evil . After taking what he wanted from them, What reason did he really have to shoot the poor couple???
