The aspiring artist told Entertainment Weekly a few days ago that she wants to record “dance anthem-like stuff.” What about working with famous songwriters? Says the singer: “That’s not a question you should ask me – my parents just throw song ideas at me, and I’ve been listening to a billion different songs.”

Rebecca Black Speaks on Lady Gaga, Earthquake Relief

She’s hated on by millions, beloved by Lady Gaga and parodied by Conan O’Brien . But one thing is certain: 13-year old Rebecca Black is an Internet and television sensation. The rising, controversial star sat down with Entertainment Weekly to speak on a number of topics, including one heartfelt cause… Rebecca Black on The Tonight Show On donating YouTube and iTunes proceeds to earthquake/tsunami relief in Japan : I felt really bad about it. I’ve always wanted to do something about all natural disasters, and I realized now is my big opportunity where I can really help. On props from Gaga : That’s so cool! I feel so star-struck, even though I haven’t met her. It’s so surreal, it’s so crazy. I was just listening to “Born this Way.” I really love all of her songs, I have almost every song of hers on my iPod and I think she’s really a lyrical genius. Her songs are just so upbeat and fun and catchy. On how she parties : Just really being with friends and having fun. Dancing — that’s really what I do at parties. I dance and I hang out with friends. That’s my partying. On her favorite artists : Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna… Justin Bieber I find an inspiration overall: I love his music, he’s adorable and I love that he’s so young and so big. And Rihanna, how she came out of the Chris Brown thing so strong, that is amazing to me. On future songs: Dance anthem-like stuff, very teen-like pop songs, stuff like that.

Move Over, Rebecca Black: Conan O’Brien Celebrates "Thursday"!

Lady Gaga says Rebecca Black is a genius . We’re not sure about that, but she sure is … something. The poster child for an entirely new genre of music, perhaps. Black’s hit song did not become a hit because it’s good. HECK no. It only has tens of millions of views because it’s just too perplexing/amazing not to share. On the day before the now-celebrated weekly holiday that made Black famous, Conan O’Brien one-ups the Internet phenom with a terrific parody of ” Friday .” It’s called … wait for it … “Thursday.” Watch after the jump: Conan O’Brien – Thursday

Pete Wentz Says Black Cards’ Debut Has Been ‘Gathering Digital Dust’

The band’s long-in-the-works album is tentatively due this summer. By James Montgomery The Black Cards Photo: MTV News Ever since Pete Wentz unveiled Black Cards last summer (back then, you probably remember that he was replacing the vowels with the number 4), fans have been clamoring for music from the group. And as the months passed, they got their wish, as Wentz began releasing individual songs and started taking his new band out on the road . But to date, there’s been very little news on an actual Black Cards album, though, from the sound of things, that may be changing very soon. Because as Wentz told MTV News on the red carpet for the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards , not only is the Cards record finished, there’s even a tentative release date for the disc. Sort of. “Summer, the month of summer is when we want the album to come out,” Wentz laughed. “It’s done and I’m just going to keep putting songs out, so we have to keep putting more songs on the album.” Wentz said that the still-untitled album will feature guest spots from Travie McCoy, Neon Trees frontman Tyler Glenn and, uh, Shaggy (!) and added that, though he’s aware fans have been waiting for a while now to hear the disc, the delay was necessary. He’s been trying to line up support for the band at their label, Island/Def Jam. After all, this isn’t Fall Out Boy. “I don’t feel like there is a holdup. I feel like people know that it’s a new project at the label and really want to roll it out in the right way, and the building has really gotten behind it,” he explained. “But it’s different than Fall Out Boy, and it’s different than stuff we’ve done before, so … with Fall Out Boy, it’d be like, ‘OK, this is rollout, we’ve got it, we’ll go around the world.’ And with this, it’s new and it’s new territory, so we’re working with new people and it’ll be exciting.” So it’s looking like this summer is going to be a good one for Wentz’s fans … and to be honest, he can’t wait to get the Black Cards’ debut out there. After all, the thing’s been sitting around for a while now. “It’s basically been sitting on the shelf,” he said. “It’s all digital, so it’s gathering digital dust.” Related Artists Black Cards

Rebecca Black Went From ‘Normal Teenager’ To ‘Friday’ Fame

‘I still question myself: ‘Is this real? When am I gonna wake up?’ ‘ Internet sensation tells MTV News. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Matt Elias Rebecca Black Photo: MTV News In the wildly popular music video for her catchy single “Friday,” overnight sensation Rebecca Black enjoys the simple things in life: “Kicking in the front seat, riding in the back seat” and, of course, having a whole lot of “fun, fun, fun, fun.” But since the 13-year-old’s Ark Music Factory-produced vid has gone viral — 43 million views and counting — her life has turned into anything but normal. From entering the top 100 on iTunes to toppling Lady Gaga (who recently called her a “genius”) to Conan O’Brien making his own Rebecca Black-inspired day-of-the-week tune, it’s safe to say that things have changed rather rapidly for the young star. “I still question myself: ‘Is this real? When am I gonna wake up?’ ” Black told MTV News about her sudden fame. When asked what’s been the biggest change since “Friday” — which started making the rounds on the Web around March 14 — become a cultural phenomenon, a tongue-tied Black eventually said, “How many more times I get recognized.” In fact, Black, who said she was simply a “normal teenager at school” who was busy “looking at the cute boys” before all this started, is already learning some of the perils of fame at 13. In addition to those pesky Internet haters , the singer admitted “realized I’m not just a normal teenager that can go into the mall and be a goofball,” adding that she has to “worry sometimes about other people that are there.” What do you think of Rebecca Black’s rapid rise to Internet fame?
