I’m really quite confused by these pictures of Holly Madison , my notes tell me that they’re of her receiving a humanitarian award, but that can’t be right. Why would she be getting something like this? Sure her beautiful breasts have probably helped a lot of people through some tough times, and she did do a lot of work with the elderly when she dated Hugh Hefner, but a humanitarian award seems like a bit much. John Cornyn, Tx., says the Tea Party has helped Republicans most notably by shifting the focus almost entirely to fiscal issues – and avoiding so called “social” ones. Mr. Cornyn, who has been on the receiving end of anti-establishment anger, argued that the Tea Party had helped Republicans in one important respect, by moving the debate away from social issues. While Tea Party supporters tend to be socially conservative on issues like same-sex marriage and abortion, most say they don’t want to talk about them; they believe that by spending so much time on those issues, the Republican Party failed to focus on fiscal conservatism. While social issues tend to be polarizing, Republicans can win on economic issues, Mr. Cornyn said, because the Democrats have been in charge as the economy has gone south. “As I’ve traveled,” he said, “I’ve talked to a lot of folks who are basically independents who say: I’m fine with the Republicans as long as we’re talking about fiscal responsibility. Where I go off the reservation is when you talk about social issues.” You all know the stakes, and are probably familiar with both sides of the argument. What do you think? Is the Cornyn/Mitch Daniels strategy the smart one, or should the GOP keep its focus on social issues, as the Mike Huckabees of the party insist?

Octomom. Yes, Suleman — who became a tabloid sensation in early 2009 after giving birth to octuplets while already a mother to six other children — will guest-star on Tuesday’s (July 5) episode of “Library,” where she participates in a challenge that’s rather familiar to her. “Today I spewed out many, many, many babies — more than I actually gave birth to, to a contestant, whose mask was destroyed by several of the babies,” Suleman told MTV News back in May on the set of “Silent Library. “It was exciting and fun. It was hard not to laugh.” In the episode, Suleman shows up on a hospital bed, legs in stirrups, and proceeds to fire plastic babies from her nether regions. On the receiving end of all this is one unlucky contestant, whose job it is to absolutely, positively not laugh, no matter what. If he succeeds, his team wins cash. And yes, Suleman was in on the joke from the beginning. “I love self-deprecating humor. I love making fun of myself,” she said. “You have to laugh at yourself. It’s the healthiest of all medicines.” So, despite being pelted by plastic babies fired from between the legs of a certified tabloid sensation, did the “Silent Library” contestant avoid cracking up? Well, you’ll just have to tune in to MTV on Tuesday to find out … because Suleman isn’t about to reveal what happened. “I can’t say,” she laughed. “But I will tell you it was louder when I was actually giving birth.” Nadya Suleman’s episode of “Silent Library” airs Tuesday (July 6) at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.
