All hail, Game of Thrones , King of the Andals, first of its name and all-time ratings champion! Yes, the numbers for season 4, episode 8 of Game of Thrones are in, and the wildly popular series has officially surpassed The Sopranos as the most-watched series in HBO’s history. No small feat for a show based on a series of door-stop books written in a genre that was previously associated with anti-social nerds and aging cosplay enthusiasts. For its peak episode in 2002 The Sopranos drew in an audience of 18.2 million viewers. GoT beat that number for the first time last week with 18.4 million tuning in. Prior to the acclaimed mob series that launched in 1999, no premium cable program had ever amassed an audience close to that size. To put things in perspective, the much-ballyhooed Breaking Bad finale of last year drew a meager-by-comparison 10.4 million viewers and that aired on a network that doesn’t require a paid subscription. It’s a well-deserved honor for a show in the midst of what many critics consider its finest season to date. Of course, last week’s increase in viewership may have had something to do with episode eight’s much-anticipated Oberyn Martell vs. Gregor Clegane battle , but considering the writers left us with a cliffhanger, much of the record-breaking audience may hold on to see if the powers that be will carry out the execution of Tyrion Lannister on this week’s GoT. It’s a possibility that’s already inspired some epic memes: Whatever happens, the remaining two episodes of season 4 are sure to pack plenty surprises and continue to enjoy unprecedented popularity. Stephen Colbert’s Mom Dies According to People Lorna Elizabeth Tuck Colbert, the mother of 11 children – including Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert – died on Wednesday. She was 92. With an extended family of 82, the mother of The Colbert Report star was an accomplished artist, church leader, businesswoman and supporter of the arts, according to her obituary in South Carolina’s Post and Courier. Her husband and three of her children previously passed away – three of the four deceased family members died in a plane crash in 1974 – and she is survived by her remaining eight kids, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In February 2012, Stephen, 49, took an unexpected leave of absence, with the network saying only, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes.” A few days after the announced hiatus, Colbert returned and took a moment to address his brief departure. Without going into detail, he said simply, “Evidently, having 11 children makes you tough as nails. Confidential to a lovely lady.” She lived a long time. God has her now R.I.P.

Lena Headey of Game of Thrones fame is broke. Or awfully close … she has $5 in the bank. Five. Queen Cersei may be filthy-rich on-screen, but in real life, the British star, 39, is living paycheck to paycheck as Game of Thrones Season 3 gets underway. Lena Headey split from husband Peter Loughran last year, and the couple is in the midst of a fight over how to split a joint $46,000 tax refund from 2011. Loughran is demanding half of the money, while Headey is asking for an emergency $6,000 advance from the communal funds to support their 2-year-old son. The actress has “less than $5 in her bank account,” reports say. How much less? It’s unclear, and pretty much irrelevant. According to the documents, Headey would be willing to allow Loughran $6,000 as well, but wants the remaining $34,000 kept in a blocked bank account. Unfortunately for both parties,, a judge on the case has denied both Loughran and Headey’s demands, leaving the actress in dire financial straits. As for how a successful actress on one of TV’s biggest shows could have a sub-$5 net worth, we have two words for you: Nicolas Cage .

The Voice results show cut two more singers Tuesday, with Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott, Trevin Hunte and Nicholas David advancing to next week’s semifinals.
