‘I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better,’ finalist tweets. By Gil Kaufman “American Idol” Finalist Casey Abrams Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images There was a conspicuous absence on Thursday night’s “American Idol” elimination show, long before Ashthon Jones got booted out of the top 13. That didn’t happen until the end of the show. It was judges’ darling and bushy-bearded budding sex symbol Casey Abrams . After another impressive performance on Wednesday night, when he took on Joe Cocker’s version of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends,” the 19-year-old film-camp counselor was nowhere to be seen on the stage. Host Ryan Seacrest announced at the top of the show that Abrams was hospitalized for the second time this season and would not be joining his pals for the results broadcast. “You’ll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now,” Seacrest announced. “Wave to him. … We know you’re watching buddy, feel better — shout-out to the nurses. Get back here soon, OK?” While a spokesperson for “Idol” told MTV News that no further details were available on Abrams’ illness on Thursday night, the bass-playing singer tweeted about the situation after the show, writing “Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good.” An unnamed “Idol” insider reportedly told the Hollywood Reporter that Abrams received two blood transfusions while in the hospital to treat a condition called ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory condition that affects the lining of the large intestine. Earlier this season, on February 23, Abrams was rushed to the ER after complaining about stomach pains and almost missed the subsequent taping of the top-12 men’s performances, which potentially would have eliminated him from the competition before the finals. Abrams was in no danger of going home on Thursday night’s show, but if his condition continues and he is unable to perform next week, he could be sent home. Last season, eventual runner-up Crystal Bowersox nearly missed out on her chance to stay on the show when she was rushed to the hospital, necessitating a rare lineup shuffle that forced the men to perform a night earlier than scheduled. Had Bowersox not recovered in time, producers said that she was in danger of being eliminated from the show. Here’s Mila Kunis at some Hollywood Reporter party last night looking sexy in her little red dress. I love her bitchy looks, it’s hot and a little scary at the same time. I’m not saying that she’s actually a bitch, although that kid from Home Alone might disagree, but I feel like I’m being scolded for not putting the toilet seat down or sleeping with her sister that one time. I love it.
LOS ANGELES ( Hollywood Reporter ) – In an unprecedented move, Paramount ‘s Insurge Pictures will release an updated director’s fan cut of “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” in a one-week exclusive run, beginning February 25. Director Jon M. Chu ‘s updated “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never Director’s Fan Cut” will play only in 3D runs in the U.S. and Canada , replacing the original version. There will be 40 minutes of new footage. Chu has trimmed 30 minutes of footage from the original “Never Say Never” to accommodate the additional scenes. Updated version runs 115 minutes, instead of the original running time of 105 minutes. Move is designed to whip up renewed interest among Bieber’s diehard fans, and spark repeat viewing in the film’s third weekend in release. “Never Say Never” is already a financial success, having grossed $51.4 million in its first 11 days in release. The original “Never Say Never” will continue playing in 2D runs. The cost of a 35mm print makes sending the director’s cut to those theaters financially unworkable. Digital prints, however, are a fraction of the cost. Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore said the studio is “trying to take advantage of options from digital technology that didn’t exist before and give fans even more of what they loved from the first version.” As he began the editing process, Chu realized he had a significant amount of footage that he couldn’t use in the initial theatrical release. He then spent dozens of hours on Twitter and Facebook engaging with fans to see what they would like to see. Some of the new footage includes more of Bieber’s friends and hometown life, as well as new songs and special footage shot of the film’s premiere at theaters across the country. “I realized I had an embarrassment of riches when I was I in the cutting room,” said Chu. “This cut allows me to retain some of the best scenes from the original movie, while incorporating previously unseen footage and new material I shot during our extensive promotional tour on behalf of the movie. Justin’s dedication to his fan base is unwavering and I was inspired as a filmmaker to attempt to provide them a unique experience that showed even more of his world.” Paramount has submitted the “Director’s Cut” to the ratings board. Because the studio isn’t asking for a new rating, it doesn’t need to pull “Never Say Never” from theaters pending review by the Classification and Ratings Administration. (Editing by Zorianna Kit )
‘This is serious porn,’ she says on ‘Kourtney & Kim Take New York.’ By Jocelyn Vena Kim Kardashian on the cover of W Photo: W Last October, Kim Kardashian had everyone drooling over her assets when she appeared nude on the cover of W magazine , leaving basically nothing to the imagination. On Sunday night’s new episode of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” months after the cover hit stands, fans saw the reality starlet open up about the shoot — and she was not at all happy about it. “I was naked, but fully covered in silver paint,” she said in the episode about the Mark Seliger photos, according to the Hollywood Reporter . “This artist will put images of architecture and buildings and stuff on top of me so you will see my body shape and the outline, but not actually my boobs or anything.” Talking to her sister, Kim, in tears, added, “I’m more naked here than I was in my Playboy (in 2007). I’m so f—ing mad right now. … She promised I would be covered with artwork . … This is serious porn … you can see nipple.” She added that she was told “nothing would be seen. I feel so taken advantage of. I’ve definitely learned my lesson.” After seeing the photos, Kardashian made a pledge: “I’m never taking my clothes off again, even if it’s for Vogue .” For those who missed the episode, the reality starlet initially cries over the W mag cover before mom-ager Kris Jenner helps her conclude that she’s helping women and that the cover is artful. Despite her claims that she wouldn’t go nude again, even for Anna Wintour, she later jokes that she might — if Vogue calls. While she seemed very upset about the photos, when Kardashian chatted with Ryan Seacrest later on, it seemed that the shock had worn off. “At the end of the day, they are gorgeous photos, and I’m glad I did it, and I love them. But at the time, I was shocked about how they weren’t how I thought they would be,” she noted. What did you think of Kim’s W cover? Sound off below! Related Photos The Evolution Of: Kim Kardashian
‘We didn’t get a nomination 4 best song! That sucks!’ the icon tweeted about ‘ You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me.’ By James Dinh Cher Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images After the Academy Award nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, “Burlesque” star Cher made it clear she wasn’t going to be celebrating with the nominees. The icon wasn’t pleased with the lack of recognition for her Diane Warren-penned tune “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from the flashy musical, and she took to Twitter to express her frustration. While it was overlooked by the Academy, the “Burlesque” song recently scored a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. “We didn’t get a nomination 4 best song ! That sucks ! Diane’s song Is so beautiful !” Cher wrote . “It’s hard to understand how u win. Then she referred to her Globes win: “The Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is..what it is ,,,,the sun is still shining !” Baffled by the snub, Cher even contemplated whether it was her role as the song’s performer that impacted its Oscar odds, writing, “maybe she would have had a better chance if someone else was singing it ?!! IT JUST CANT B HER SONG I” The Golden Globe awards are typically seen as a good forecast for the Oscars, but the awards aren’t a guarantee of Oscar love. A handful of stars from Oscar-nominated movies weren’t recognized by the Academy , including Mila Kunis (“Black Swan”), Andrew Garfield (“The Social Network”) and Julianne Moore (“The Kids Are All Right”).
