Conrad Murray Documentary to Air on MSNBC; Michael Jackson Estate, Fans Irate

As previously reported, MSNBC is planning to air a controversial documentary about Dr. Conrad Murray this weekend, and Michael Jackson’s estate is absolutely livid. The star’s executors issued a statement, saying, “Like so many of Michael’s fans, the Estate is disgusted by MSNBC’s irresponsible and inexplicable decision.” “Co-Executors John Branca and John McClain are sending a letter to executives at Comcast, NBC Universal and MSNBC to express disdain for their actions.” Jackson’s fans are understandably up in arms as well, with the group “Justice 4 MJ” trying to organize a global boycott of the documentary about Murray. “The only documentary we want to see is the one of Murray enjoying prison life,” they said . Murray was found guilty of manslaughter earlier this week. “Michael Jackson and The Doctor: A Fatal Friendship,” filmed during the lead-up to the trial, does not paint the late singer in a flattering light. Branca and McClean are irate that Murray has no qualms about “smearing the reputation of his ‘friend,'” even though he refused to testify under penalty of perjury in his trial, and at the network for giving him a platform. The co-executors doubt MSNBC’s claim that Murray got paid only $1 for his participation, claiming “moral loopholes” (such as those they’re reportedly using to try to lure Casey Anthony ) to “boost ratings at a struggling network.” Murray will be sentenced November 29.

Amanda Knox Pleads Her Innocence In Italian At Appeal, Says She Isn’t A Nasty Ho And She Didn’t Murk Her Roommate

Remember the American student sentenced to 26 years in an Italian jail for killing her roommate in 2009? Amanda Knox delivered a moving plea of her innocence in Italian at today at her appeal after already spending four years in jail for the murder of her roommate Meredith. The original trial made headlines after Amanda and her relationship with Italian boyfriend (now ex) Raffaele Sollecito were portrayed as free-spirited, lovers who were playing freaky sex games when Meredith was tragically killed. She was received with a lot of suspicion after the murder because of how her carefree behavior was perceived. She was outspoken in defending her reputation at her appeal: Tearful Amanda Knox today made a dramatic plea for her freedom as she addressed the judge and jury in her appeal trial and told them: ‘I did not kill, I did not rape, I did not steal.’ Knox, 24, spoke for just over ten minutes and needed to pause frequently for breath, at one point the judge asked her if she wanted to speak sitting down. But the American, who is fighting to avoid a possible life sentence, turned down his offer and after a gentle encouraging squeeze of her hand from her lawyer Luciano Ghirga she addressed the court. Speaking in Italian Knox pleaded her innocence for the brutal murder of Meredith Kercher and said: ‘Esteemed people of the court, it has been said many times that I am a person different than what I am. I am the same person I was four years ago, the same person, the only thing that distinguishes me from four years ago is the four years that I have suffered. ‘In four years I have lost a friend in a brutal and unexplained way. My faith in the police has been betrayed. I have had to face accusations, injustice and suggestions without foundation and I am paying for my life for something that I did not do.’ Reading without notes Knox added dramatically: ‘I am not what they say I am. I am not perverse, violent, disrespectful towards life, people, these things do not apply to me and I have not done the things that have been suggested. ‘I did not kill, I did not rape, I did not steal. I was not there. I was not present at this crime.’

Wiz Khalifa Shows Chevy Woods ‘A Different Way’

Formerly known as Kev tha Hustla, Taylor Gang MC tells Mixtape Daily about being on the Rolling Papers Tour. By Rob Markman Chevy Woods Photo: MTV News Fire Starter: Chevy Woods Wiz Khalifa ‘s Taylor Gang is no one-man army: Meet Pittsburgh spitter Chevy Woods. About eight years ago, back when he went by the name Kev tha Hustla, the MC who hails from the Hazelwood section of the ‘Burgh met Wiz at ID Labs studio. Immediately, the two collaborated and hit it off, forming a brotherly bond and a new crew called the Taylor Gang. Woods developed a passion for rap while he attended Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania, but the street’s allure was strong. It wasn’t until 2009 when Wiz, who was seeing his star rise, convinced his bud to leave the block alone and focus on music. “He was like, ‘Come on, man. I’m gonna show you a different way. Let’s make some money, real money. Leave that sh– alone,’ ” Chevy told Mixtape Daily of his decision to switch hustles. “I just cut the street sh– out.” As Kev tha Hustla, Chevy was buzzing and had already released tapes like The Corner’s Correspondent and Animal , but after a name change, Woods scored a breakout tape earlier this year when he dropped Red Cup Music . “I think I found myself when I put that tape out. I really found a style for myself. Some laid-back, cool music. Drink a little bit, smoke a little bit,” he said. Now, CW is on the Rolling Papers Tour , where he opens for Big Sean and Khalifa. The crowd has been receptive to his set as he performs songs like the party-starting “Jimmy Fallon” and smoothed-out “Campaign” from Red Cup . “It be nights where I be with my palms sweating before I go on, and then after I get off I be like, ‘Man, I’m ready to shed a tear,’ because this sh– is crazy to me,” he said about the love he’s gotten on the road. “It’s new, it’s fresh, and I’m just trying to take it all in.” Next up for Chevy is his The Cookout mixtape, set to drop in August. On it, Woods promises a soundtrack for those summertime barbeques. And while the tape will be billed as a solo affair, he confirms that his buddy Wiz will appear on about half of the tracks. “That’s where I’m trying to take you: to my backyard with my mom on the grill and my homeys around,” he explained. “I just want them to hear where I come from.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out . Young Jeezy Says TM 103 Release Is ‘Locked’

‘It’s time to go!’ the Snowman tells MTV News of long-awaited album’s September 20 drop date. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Young Jeezy Photo: MTV News Young Jeezy is ready to go. After numerous delays and setbacks, the Snowman tells MTV News that the release date for his next solo album, TM 103, is set in stone. “It’s locked, it’s dead-locked. It’s time to go! September 20, how y’all want it,” he said. The album — Jeezy’s fourth and the third in his Thug Motivation series — first started creating a buzz in 2009, when it was expected to be given a 2010 release. Singles like “Lose My Mind,” “All White Everything,” “Jizzle” and the Lil Wayne-assisted “Ballin’ ” came and went, while the album remained in limbo. But on Monday night at his New York City concert celebrating the six-year anniversary of his debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, Jeezy announced the rock-solid September 20 date. Backstage at a second TM 101 show in Atlanta on Tuesday, Jeezy explained that he wasn’t about to tarnish his reputation as an artist just to make that 2010 release date. “One thing you gotta know about Young is I’m three for three,” he said, speaking of the quality of his previous albums. “I’m on my own time. I’m the boss — I’m not rushing myself for nothing. “At the end of the day, I’m not about to give nobody no music to make a deadline, I’m gonna give them something to live and die by. If it ain’t classic, it ain’t monumental, I don’t want to be a part of it. I make hits, man. I make classics. I can’t just give somebody something just ’cause it’s time. It’s better late than never baby, trust.” Jeezy is particularly excited about his new single “Shake Life.” The track, which was produced by Lil Lody, samples from Toto’s 1978 song “Georgy Porgy” and on it, Jeezy raps about how he was counted out of the game, the war in Iraq and the ills of his former Atlanta neighborhood. “I just put out ‘Shake Life,’ it’s crazy. It’s a special record to me,” he said. “It’s just one of those records to uplift. But if you’re worried about club bangers, I got an album full of those sh–s, too easy.” Are you looking forward to Jeezy’s TM 103 ? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Young Jeezy

Taylor Swift Is ‘Totally Cool,’ Tour Openers NeedToBreathe Say

South Carolina rock band tells MTV News Swift is ‘very pro for somebody who’s 21.’ By Jocelyn Vena NeedToBreathe Photo: Marc Broussely/ Redferns Even at the tender age of 21, Taylor Swift is one of the most poised superstars on the planet. And she has quite the reputation for being incredibly professional to work with. But when her tour openers NeedToBreathe finally got the chance to meet her, they were actually surprised by how true that is. “Well, she won’t let us look at her [for] long,” Bear Reinhart joked to MTV News. Brother Bo added, “She wears, like, a veil over her face the whole time, like, no eye contact.” Of course, that is anything but true, and Bear later added, “Honestly, it’s been really not like that at all. She was totally cool the first day … very pro for somebody who’s 21.” Bo continued, “[She’s] very down to earth and easy [to work with].” As the story goes, Swift handpicked the South Carolina band to be the opening act on her Speak Now tour , which is currently hitting up the country. And the band finds it hard to believe that they are playing to a sea of screaming teenage girls in arenas and stadiums night after night. “We thought when people called us, we thought they were joking,” Bear said of learning they’d be opening for the comely singer. “I think partly because it’s Taylor Swift and partly because we’re not really a country band and her fans are obviously a little younger than ours sometimes. But it’s been cool because she genuinely likes music and she likes our band and she’s been really sweet about the whole thing. “We met her and she was kind of nervous around us,” he continued. “I guess [because] we’re older than her, but she’s like a real fan. She’s like, ‘What songs are you gonna play?’ So that’s good, to be appreciated on a tour like that. Obviously, we could, like, never see her again, but she’s been great.” Related Artists Taylor Swift needtobreathe

Jon Stewart on Sarah Palin Email Coverage: Come On, Media!

Jon Stewart defending Sarah Palin is not something you see every day, but the media’s obsession with her old emails necessitated a Daily Show rant. In a segment called “P-mail,” Stewart ripped the press for providing “full team coverage” of the arbitrary release date of Palin’s non-urgent messages. Stewart notes, accurately, that the media harps on Palin for a sense of inflated self-importance, yet behavior like this contributes directly to it … Jon Stewart on Palin Emails It is absurd, really. At this point, all the classic Sarah Palin moments have been found and scrutinized to no end. What did they expect to discover?! “For some reason, the media went DEFCON 1,” Stewart said, rolling clips of news outlets disappointed by an apparent lack of any major scandals. In one segment, CNN describes an email from someone complaining, “Palin was spotted with Trig in a car not wearing an approved car seat.” “That story better end with Palin getting out of the car and beating the woman with a tire iron,” Stewart said. “Otherwise, why waste our time?” Seriously. She resigned two years ago and is not running for office now. Let it go … or at least start digging through Michele Bachmann emails.

Joe Montana Injured in ATV Accident

NFL legend Joe Montana was injured in an ATV accident last weekend, taking a spill from his all-terrain vehicle near his Calistoga, Calif., ranch. The four-time Super Bowl winner required a few stitches above his eye, but Montana told San Francisco’s KGO-TV that he wasn’t seriously hurt. Montana was supposed to meet with the Santa Clara City Council to discuss plans to develop commercial real estate around a proposed new stadium for 49ers. The meeting has not been rescheduled as of yet. “Mr. Montana is upset because he really wanted to be able to come, because he is committed to this project,” Joe’s attorney told the San Jose Mercury News . “It’s from his vision and on his reputation that a proposal’s being made.” With former owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr., Joe is part of a group looking to develop hotels, restaurants and bars on two parcels owned by the city. No word if the group will also apply for permits to dump Alex Smith into the poured concrete foundation of one of the aforementioned structures. [Photo: WENN.com]

Lady Gaga Was ‘Spontaneous’ On ‘Judas’ Set, Norman Reedus Says

Judas himself opens up to MTV News about the just-released video. By Jocelyn Vena Norman Reedus Photo: MTV News When Norman Reedus, who played the title character in Lady Gaga’s “Judas” video , stopped by the MTV News offices Friday (May 6), he told us Gaga had everyone on their toes on set — in the best way possible. “I like the lipstick part, because that was sort of last minute,” the “Walking Dead” star said. “She just jumped up [and was like], ‘I have this great idea. I’m gonna put lipstick in front of you, and right before you kiss Jesus, I’m going to pull out this gun, and I’m gonna pull the trigger, and then a lipstick’s [gonna come out], and then I’m going to put it on you like I’m enabling the kiss!’ “She looked at me like, ‘Is that cool?’ ” he continued. “And I’m like, ‘Rad.’ And we did it. I liked how she was so spontaneous.” Reedus’ other favorite scene is the opening shot, where Judas, Mary Magdalene (Gaga) and Jesus (Rick Gonzalez) are all on the road with their biker-gang disciples. “We got there the first day, and we all took motorcycle lessons [in a parking lot and] one of the disciples trashed his motorcycle up against the curb, which was hysterical,” he recalled. “So we did that, and then they cut off part of the freeway and actually cops would fly by us and section off the road. So we rode in a pack.” While Gaga didn’t actually have to drive one of the bikes, he said her stunts were quite awe-inspiring. “She wasn’t driving the bike, but she was riding on the back. … We were flying down the freeway, and she got up on the back … and was way off the back of the seat and hanging backwards and stuff,” he said. “Which was a daredevil move; it was pretty intense. She had all these jewels all over her, and every once and a while, you could see behind her bike just a trail of jewels dropping on the freeway. It was kind of magic.” Since Reedus has had about 24 hours to think about the video, he said it gets his seal of approval. “My reaction when I saw it? I was excited to see my motorcycle in it first off, ’cause that’s my bike that I ride, and I thought it was really good,” he said. “I thought that [co-director] Laurieann [Gibson] did a really good job and Gaga did a good job, and I know there’s a lot of work put into it, and I could see all the work on the screen, so I liked it.” What did you think of the video?
