Check out some great quotes from InStyle below: On her rise to the top, and the legacy she wants to leave “I just try to live, and, you know, sh*t happens. I’ve said it a million times, but I’d rather be known for the active change I’ve made than for what my name stands for.” On the responsibility that comes with fame “…I realize that [being a role model] is actually a huge part of the job. You sign up for that. You’re being watched. You can choose to accept that and appreciate it, or you can choose not to…I choose to acknowledge it.” Her reaction to recent sexual harassment allegations in Hollywood “The bravery of the women who came forward is a huge step toward making sure it’s safer for me and other young women who are just coming up. I’m at that prime age right now. Twenty-one. Starting off. That’s when people take advantage and abuse their power and do terrible shit. I think it’s definitely a sisterhood.” On why she was drawn to her role in The Greatest Showman co-starring Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron “A big part of my character’s storyline, the reason that she is an oddity, is that she and her brother are black…I’m biracial, so there are many [shared] experiences there.” COVER CREDITS InStyle’s January 2018 Issue goes on sale Friday, Dec. 8 Photographed for InStyle by Anthony Maule Top, pants, and necklace Chloé Earrings Jennifer Fisher Bracelet Bulgari Rings Bulgari and Jennifer Fisher

Continued here:

Source: Philip Ramey Photography, LLC / Getty Mary J. Blige wants her estranged husband, Kendu Isaacs , to chip in on settling their debts. Just days after a judge tabled Kendu’s request for a spousal support increase, Mary has filed new court documents stating that she wants him to pay her nearly $6 million to help fix their financial woes. TMZ.com reports that they’re currently $11,622,614 in the hole. Much of that debt is owed to the IRS, and Mary said in the filings that she’s the only one shouldering this responsibility. In court documents, she’s now requesting $5,990,357 from Kendu to cover his half of the burden. Whether, she’ll get that money from him is anyone’s guess. She’s stated in her new filing that Kendu isn’t doing anything to earn his own living, and she’s currently paying him $30,000 a month in spousal support. RELATED STORIES: Will Mary J. Hilary Duff Gets Sl%tty For Her 30th

Hilary Duff turned 30 and like every woman who nears the end of their hotness she put on a pair of “F%ck me boots”, and has a big party to celebrate the beginning of cougarism. How long will “cougarism” last? That all depends on many factors such as diet, exercise and plastic surgery. I hope Hilary takes this responsibility serious and can offer us a few more years of pant fires.

Tech Industry Still Struggling To Achieve Diversity

Continued here:

S everal years have passed since the tech industry came under fire for its lack of diversity. Little has change despite its efforts. Facebook Global Director of Diversity Maxine Williams admitted to Yahoo Finance that the pace of change for her company has been slow. “Look, I’m frustrated too,” she stated. “I want there to be more [diversity].” Facebook's Diversity chief, Maxine Williams shares some of the things that's making the company less white and male https://t.co/SmM8co2HX2 pic.twitter.com/s0d5eXEiWS — Colorintech (@Colorintechorg) August 5, 2017 Women represent 35 percent of Facebook’s workforce—a 2 percent increase from the previous year. And the company added just 1 percent of Hispanic and African-American employees year-over-year, Yahoo reported. As poor as that sounds, the tech industry overall had a decline in the number of Black and Hispanic employees, according to data reviewed by the news outlet. Earlier this year, two tech giants hired Black women to lead their diversity efforts. Apple introduced    Denise Young Smith is its new first vice president of diversity and inclusion, reporting directly to Apple CEO  Tim Cook . Apple names Denise Young Smith as VP of diversity and inclusion https://t.co/55SteqAlyc via @techcrunch — Latinas in STEM (@LatinasinSTEM) June 27, 2017 Apple’s  diversity report  states that the company worldwide is 68 percent male. Here in the United States, the tech giant is 56 percent White, 19 percent Asian, 12 percent Hispanic and 9 percent Black. After that announcement, Twitter made a similar move , hiring Candi Castleberry-Singleton  as its new vice president of inclusion and diversity. Congratulations to Candi Castleberry Singleton https://t.co/XYE3J3feSm — Pi'ilaniwahine (@JPRequiro) September 5, 2017 In 2016, Whites and Asians represented nearly 90 percent of Twitter’s workforce, according to the company’s  diversity report . Blacks and Hispanics, combined, represented just 7 percent. The company’s leadership was 74 percent White and only 2 percent Black. And as with most of the technology industry, Twitter’s workforce in 2016 was male dominated, with women making up 37 percent overall. 22nd Anniversary Of Million Man March: ‘Separation Or Death’

More:

O ctober 16, 2017 marks the 22nd anniversary of the Million Man March . The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan will deliver a keynote address for the Commemoration and Day of Atonement called “Separation or Death!” the Final Call reports. RELATED:  EXCLUSIVE: Why The Million Man March Was Just As Much For Healing As It Was For Justice “ The Minister will deliver his message October 15 at Symphony Hall in Newark at 1020 Broad Street. Doors open at 12:00 noon ET and the program begins at 2:00 p.m ET,” the news outlet writes. Newark, New Jersey was chosen in part for its concentration of Black residents. Blacks make up 145,085, or 52 percent, of the total  population of 277,140, according to the U.S. Census Bureau . Student Minister Abdul Haqq Muhammad of Mosque No. 25 called Newark a “very Islamic city,” and said that Minister Farrakhan visits the city “quite often.” The first Million Man March found more than a million Black men and boys gathered on the mall of Washington, DC. Minister Farrakhan laid out an eight-step plan for atonement in the Black community, with men shouldering much of the responsibility for the socioeconomic ills faced by Black communities nationwide. According to the Nation of Islam , immediate outcomes of the march included 1.7 million new voter registrations, a surge in adoptions of Black children, and “skyrocketed” memberships in Black organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Newark Minster Haqq Muhammad told Final Call reporters that this year’s message of separation is informed by “police brutality and a obstructions of justice within Black and Brown communities…We can see that the Caucasian in particular has become infuriated with Black people in general.” SOURCE: Final Call SEE ALSO: 6 Black-Owned Bed & Breakfasts That Feel Like Home Teen Developing App To Prevent Police Brutality     [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3205621″ overlay=”true”]
