Just 24 hours after Selena Gomez’s disastrous dinner date with Justin Bieber, the singer-actress met up with pal Taylor Swift for dinner last night. Oh to be a fly on the wall at Osteria La Buca in Los Angeles. “The girls shared an Italian meal and seemed to have the best time,” an onlooker says. “There were a lot of giggles and laughter. They looked like great friends .” “You could tell they were also in deep conversation throughout the meal. Taylor was very protective of Selena and escorted her to and from the car.” The probably-single ladies certainly have plenty to discuss … Friday’s Justin Bieber-Selena Gomez date night fight came after they split two weeks ago, and Justin made numerous overtures toward reconciliation. Ones that apparently blew up in his “Baby” face. She stormed out of dinner for reasons unknown, then drove to her house where she refused to let the Bieb in … with the paparazzi watching every move. Taylor, for her part, has been linked to Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Cory Monteith, Toby Hemingway, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zac Efron and Garrett Hedlund. The final installment of The Twilight Saga raked in $141.3 million since its release on Thursday night, a total that ranks as the eighth biggest opening weekend of all-time. The film has also grossed $200 million internationally and it has earned the highest CinemaScore – a grading of movies by audiences across the country – of any in the franchise. Brooke Burke has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The model, actress and Dancing with the Stars host revealed the condition – which she found about about during a regular physical – in the video posted below: Brooke Burke-Charvet: Cancer? Me? “I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I’m going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck,” Brooke Burke-Charvet, 41, says. “I don’t get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it’s going to be pretty much dead center.” “I don’t want anybody to get the wrong idea, or think that I’m sick, because I’m not.” “I got my results back days later and they were atypical, which means that the doctors couldn’t confirm whether the nodule was cancerous or benign,” she goes on. “So I had to go and do a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions. Long story long, I got my results back and they were not good.” The mother of four is staying positive and moving forward. “I’ve booked my surgery,” she says. “It’s taken me a couple of months to really wrap my head around this. … Now I’m good. I’m ready to deal with it, and I’m going to be fine.” “I feel really, really strong. The X Factor went from 16 to 12 tonight, as four contestants – one from each group – were sent packing. In somewhat complicated fashion. First, each judge deemed two singers from his/her troupe to be safe; they went straight to the next round. Then, the remaining pair of hopefuls sang against each other for their X Factor lives. Meet Banger Condola Rashad We all had our eyes glued to the Steel Magnolias remake last night. And while the results were mixed we can’t deny there was a beautiful new face on the scene that had us in awe. But fate did bring Rina Takeda and Noboru Iguchi together, and the result is Dead Sushi (2012), the kooky horror-comedy that was one of our highlights of Fantastic Fest 2012. Rina stars as clumsy waitress/sushi nunchaku master Keiko, and while she doesn’t engage in the naked antics of her co-stars Aiko Hashiuchi, Maaya Morinaga , and Marin , she’s still managed to high-kick her way right into our hearts.
