Fans of Bravo TV’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta” have been speculating for months about the marital status of Linnethia “NeNe” Leakes , and her indecision regarding her marriage to husband Gregg Leakes: Now the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper reportedly has uncovered the truth that NeNe has been “faking the funk” to boost “RHOA” ratings. Reportedly, NeNe Leakes filed for divorce in Forsyth County on April 29, 2010, during Season 3 of “Real Housewives of Atlanta”, and finalized the divorce September 29, 2011, after Season 4 had wrapped. Sources say, she was likely keeping quiet about her divorce to keep up the chatter about her personal life. The former couple married in 1997 in Athens, GA and have one son together, Brentt, and NeNe’s older son Bryce from a previous relationship. No reports on whether Gregg requested spousal support, since NeNe became the family’s breadwinner. It’s a sad day for poor women in America. The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, a leading charity for breast cancer, has announced that it is ending its partnership with Planned Parenthood. The change will mean a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams. The decision sparked an outcry from abortion rights advocates blaming “political pressure” and praise from an anti-abortion group. The move comes less than a year after Komen hired a new vice president, who has publicly stated her opposition to abortion, a service provided at some Planned Parenthood facilities. Komen has a long history of providing funding to various Planned Parenthood affiliates for such services as manual breast exams and referrals for mammograms and biopsies to check suspicious lumps for cancer. Although that money is not used for abortions, the Komen Foundation may have yielded to demands from antiabortion groups to sever its ties to Planned Parenthood. The Komen Foundation argues that their reason for cutting ties with Planned Parenthood is that they do not want to be involved with an organization that is being investigated by the government, after Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Fl.) launched an inquiry to determine where Planned Parenthood public money goes. Clearly, no one is considering the health and welfare of less privileged women in this country? This is not about abortion, it’s about catching breast cancer in its early stages and saving women’s lives! Partnering with True Entertainment, the production company behind The Real Housewives of Atlanta , the network announced that it is working on a project tentatively titled Preacher Wives that will follow the lives of the “First Ladies” of Atlanta churches, reports the Hollywood Reporter . In a statement, True Entertainment president, Steven Weinstock, shared his excitement about this unexpected partnership and also the rationale behind the new series: “We are excited to work with TLC to profile the lives of these strong-willed women. With most praise in religious communities directed towards male preachers, we are thrilled to give these remarkable ladies the spotlight they crave and deserve.” The series will follow the women as they preside over their husbands’ congregations, as well as shadow their private lives and the conflicts that inevitably arise when trying to balance both, reports THR. It should come as no surprise that TLC has decided to jump into the Wives fray. The Real Housewives franchise has proven to be a goldmine for Bravo , with an estimated $35.6 – $162 million generated in ad revenue within the last two years. With the copy-cat success of VH1′s Basketball Wives and Mob Wives, we can probably expect the same cat-fights and shenanigans from Preacher Wives ; only this time, it’s for the Lord.
