Iceland Porn Ban to Go Into Effect?

Horrible news today for all teenage boys in Iceland: the government of this North Atlantic nation is hoping to become the first county to actually ban pornography. The proposal by Interior Minister Ogmundur Jonasson has created quite the stor, but this official’s political adviser doesn’t understand why. Asks Halla Gunnarsdottir: “When a 12-year-old types ‘porn’ into Google, he or she is not going to find photos of naked women out on a country field, but very hardcore and brutal violence. There are laws in our society. Why should they not apply to the Internet?” Technically, it should be noted, pornography is already banned in Iceland. But it’s also undefined. So it has been impossible to enforce. But the idea of restricting websites? Of outlawing the ability to surf online for hardcore nudity and sexual situations? It has Internet-freedom advocates concerned. “This kind of thing does not work. It is technically impossible to do in a way that has the intended effect,” said Smari McCarthy of free-speech group the International Modern Media Institute. “And it has negative side effects – everything from slowing down the Internet to blocking content that is not meant to be blocked to just generally opening up a whole can of worms regarding human rights issues, access to information and freedom of expression.” What do you think, readers? Could you live in a nation without porn?

Gunplay: Off the Hook in Armed Robbery Case

Rapper Gunplay is off the hook for robbing his accountant at gunpoint – despite video showing the whole damn thing – after the victim refused to cooperate. Makes you think. Gunplay Robbery: Rapper Pulls Gun The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office told TMZ earlier : “Video alone is not enough to convict an individual of a crime beyond a reasonable doubt.” “Although the armed robbery is captured on , the victim, Turron Woodside, is uncooperative of the prosecution of this defendant Richard Morales [Gunplay].” Officials needed Woodside to authenticate the surveillance video to use it as evidence against Gunplay, who was accused of pulling a gun on him. He’s accused of stealing a cell phone and gold chain during the incident last fall; Gunplay was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. The State Attorney’s Office says the judge subpoenaed Woodside to appear in the case but prosecutors were unable to find him in order to serve him. Officials say Woodside’s family and co-workers have told the court “he’s out of town and/or coping with a family death” along with other excuses. The judge made it clear … without Woodside’s testimony, prosecutors couldn’t make their case, and they were forced to drop charges against Gunplay. Now that it’s over in any case, Gunplay says he’s gonna roll a fat ass J … oh, and spend time with his “loved ones.” He tells the celeb gossip site: “Today I am grateful and blessed that the case was dismissed,” he says. “I plan on picking up where I left off with my music and making hits with my upcoming debut album … The first thing I am going to do today is smoke a joint.” “Relax, play video games, and just be with my loved ones.” God speed, Gunplay. God speed.
