So Sad: Three People Were Killed After A Cliff Collapsed At Southern California Beach

Source: Moelyn Photos / Getty 3 People Were Killed In Cliff Collapse At Beach Near San Diego A popular beach for surfing was closed on Saturday after a cliff collapsed, killing at least three people. According to reports from NBC News , the cliff collapsed at around 3 p.m. and ended up trapping several people on the beach in Encinitas near San Diego. A woman died at the scene, while two more died later at hospitals. Another person was taken to a hospital, and a person who had minor injuries was treated at the scene, according to statements from the city. Because the scene was so dangerous, police actually had to stop searching for additional victims. They are now using K-9’s in the search , according to local news reports. One of the boulders that fell was said to be 7 or 8 feet by 4 feet. The cliff was on Grandview Beach, a popular surf spot among locals and vacationers. This beach was absolutely filled with people at the time of the collapse–which isn’t surprising, because it’s the middle of the summer. A KNSD-TV helicopter captured footage of beach chairs, towels, surfboards and beach toys strewn about the sand. Suburbs north of San Diego have contended with rising water levels in the Pacific Ocean, pressuring bluffs along the coast. Some bluffs are fortified with concrete walls to prevent multimillion-dollar homes from falling into the sea. Long stretches of beach in Encinitas are narrow strips of sand between stiff waves and towering rock walls. People lounging on beach chairs or blankets are sometimes surprised as waves roll past them and within a few feet of the walls. Cliffside collapses are not unusual as the ocean chews away at the base of the sandstone, according to authorities. Some beach areas were even marked with signs warning of this exact danger. Several people have been killed or injured over the years in similar bluff collapses. The San Diego Tribune reported that a resident of Encinitas died near the same area back in 2000, when a 110-yard-wide chunk of bluff fell and buried her.

Hypebeasts Beware: More Than 6 Million Users Affected By Reported StockX System Hack

Source: Cody Glenn / Getty Alleged StockX Hack Affects 6 Million Of The Popular App’s Users Earlier this week, the popular sneaker reselling app StockX sent out emails urging their users to reset their passwords–but it turns out, the company wasn’t being very transparent about why their consumers should be concerned about their privacy. The marketplace for all sneakers, apparel, and more was reportedly hacked, exposing sensitive information of more than 6 million users worldwide, according to TechCrunch . On Thursday, the Detroit-based reselling platform sent out an e-mail regarding an alleged “update” to the site’s system, telling users to reset their passwords in order to resume use of the service. The problem here is that the e-mail did not detail what lead to the update. In a statement issued by a spokesman to TechCrunch , StockX admitted that it had been alerted to some suspicious activity involving the platform, but that may not have been the entire story. According to TechCrunch’s Zack Whittaker, an unnamed data breach seller contacted their platform claiming that the information of more than 6.8 million users was stolen from StockX back in May. After being provided with a sample of 1,000 records by the seller, TechCrunch contacted the individual customers and provided them with unique information, including their real name, username combination, and shoe size. Every person confirmed their data was accurate. This data is already being sold on the dark web for about $300. And here's the @StockX data being sold on the dark web. According to the listing, it's worth about $300 and it's already been sold to one person. (We're not linking to the listing.) pic.twitter.com/6YpEJATEQR — Zack Whittaker (@zackwhittaker) August 3, 2019 Though StockX wasn’t exactly being transparent at first, following some backlash yesterday, they  sent an-email to customers and posted a message on its website acknowledging that “an unknown third-party was able to gain access to certain customer data, including customer name, email address, shipping address, username, hashed passwords, and purchase history.” The company maintains that the system update it implemented on Thursday was taken as a precautionary measure, as it “did not yet know the nature, extent, or scope of suspicious activity to which we had been alerted.” StockX also says that per its investigation, no evidence suggests that customer financial or payment information has been impacted. However, some Twitter users have  pointed out that fraudulent purchases have been made through their accounts . You can read StockX’s full statement regarding the breach and all other updates here .

SMH: Man Strangles His Sister To Death After An Argument Over The Wifi Password

Source: NurPhoto / Getty Man Strangles Sister During Fight Over Wifi Password According to Fox 8 , a Georgia teen was just sentenced to life in prison after being was found guilty in the strangling death of his sister during a fight over a wifi password. Kevon Watkins, 18, was allegedly arguing with his mom about the internet at their home. Watkins, who was then 16, reportedly changed the password so he could play video games without others using the internet . Watkins and his sister, Alexus Breanna Watkins (22) began to fight and their mother called for help when she couldn’t separate them. Watkins placed a chokehold on her for about 15 minutes. He didn’t remove the hold until police commanded him to and it was then that authorities noticed her body was lifeless. She was pronounced dead at the local hospital. Watkins waived his right to a jury trial and chose to have a Bibb County judge hear testimony. He was found guilty of felony murder. Scott Disick Fears Prison (?!?) in New KUWTK Trailer

You can say many things about the Kardashians, along with nearly everyone in close proximity to this family. Really. You can. Go right ahead and do so right now. But there's one thing that can't really ever be uttered about this group of polarizing reality stars: They've never been in trouble with the law. With sex tapes? With infidelity? With the exploiting of their young fan base for millions of dollars? Yes, yes and yes. But Kim Kardashian and company has at least remained on the right side of the police… until now, perhaps. In a new promo for Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 17, which premieres some time this fall, Scott Disick speaks up and out at one point and says the following: “There’s a chance I would’ve had to go to prison.” Wait, what?!? For what possible reason? We have no idea and the preview does not say — and this is likely much ado about nothing at all. But it has still drawn out attention. Elsewhere in this footage, we see how tensions between Tristan Thompson and the Kardashians-Jenners are still lingering after he cheated on Khloé Kardashian with Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner‘s longtime best friend forever. In one revealing scene, Kim is angry after Thompson evidently ignored Khloe at their daughter True‘s first birthday party in April. “He doesn’t even speak to Khloe,” she fumes. “Khloe invited you. Be f—ing cordial.” “This whole thing sucks,” Khloe says, full a face full of tears. Again, say what you want about Khloe, but you must also feel pretty awful for her, considering this entire ordeal. E! has yet to announce a premiere date for Keeping Up with the Kardashians Season 17. But you can get a close look at what's on tap here.

Bossip Be Trippin’: Our Fun-Filled Foray Into ComplexCon Chicago’s Celeb-Stuffed Clout Buffet

Source: Complex Bossip Be Trippin’: ComplexCon Chicago 2019 Beautiful people, it’s your fave airport-hopping adventurer Alejandro back with an essential recap of delicious clout buffet–the internet in real life–ComplexCon Chicago where I met wavy somebodies, vibed with transcendent tastemakers (shouts to my dad Bun B), witnessed swaggy strangers blow rent money on exclusive releases and maybe (probably) met my future wife in a shared Lyft. (#LyftBae, if you’re reading this I’m taking you out for extravagant, life-changing, credit score-raising tacos–shark, swordfish, swanky salmon from wealthy waters (with a decadent drizzle of Cilantro, of course). You’ll never have a taste for peasantly poor fish tacos again) But, seriously, I genuinely enjoyed my first time in Chicago–the weather, the midwest energy, the delicious eats, the gorgeous women, everything–all of it–was amazing, especially my first authentic deep dish pizza from the world-famous Lou Malnati’s. Bruh, MOUF SECKS. View this post on Instagram Another one bites the crust : @thefeastkings . . . #loumalnatis #anotheronebitesthecrust #incrustwetrust #pizzacravings #pizza #cheese #cheesepull #chicago #orderonline #delivery #dinein #chicagoeats #thelou #deepdish #foodie #chicagostylepizza #pizzaislife #chicagostyle #eatingfortheinsta A post shared by Lou Malnati's Pizzeria (@loumalnatis) on Jul 30, 2019 at 11:30am PDT My only complaint, though, was the TWO HOUR wait in the crowded eatery. Pro tip: Order in advance–wayyy in advance–to avoid waiting in a line that’s always longer than forever. Now, on to ComplexCon that popped with larger-than-life activations, random celebrity pop-ups, cool people doing (and selling and giving away) cool things, a whole entire section of critically-acclaimed eateries (HAROLD’s!) and friendly clout fiends from all over the world. Source: Alex Ford/iOne And yes, they were selling $5,000 24K gold-dipped burgers with an icy grill on the side (because fries are for poors, apparently). For two days, I wandered around unsupervised and partook in super fun shenanigans. Brisk had a very dope “Hobbs & Shaw”-themed experience where you could film fight scenes with friends and meet WWE superstar Roman Reigns. Jack Honey shined with its wonderfully rustic experience that showcased custom designed shoes by the world-renown Shoe Surgeon. PUMA dazzled the crowd with its planet-sized basketball world and connected me with rising star Dreezy for a great interview. Comedy Central caught eyes with a clever Rent-A-Center-themed activation with the hilarious cast of hit show “South Side .” Check out my spectacular Day 1 recap below: View this post on Instagram @Complexcon Chicago, Day 1. A fun-filled clout buffet with cool somebodies & next-level activations. Caught up with the hilarious cast of @southsidechi in their Rent-T-Own store , @dreamville star @dreezy at @puma world & @theshoesurgeon at @jackhoney_us’s wonderfully rustic kickback. There were $5,000 burgers & geeky baddies dressed like Fefe Dobson with a splash of Sailor Moon. Also tried my first authentic Chicago deep dish pizza at @loumalnatis. NASTY MOUF SEX HAPPENED. AMAZING . Overall, DOPE opening day. Excited about Day #2 #Complexcon A post shared by Alejandro NIGlesias (@alejandro_niglesias) on Jul 21, 2019 at 8:40am PDT On Day 2, I started strong with a magnificent 5-course meal curated by Uber Eats & Fat Rice. At one point, Bun B came over to shake my hand (I think he thought I was Brian Tyree Henry ) while Zaytoven ran through his countless hits. View this post on Instagram Enjoyed a spectacular 5-course meal curated by @ubereats & @eatfatrice with some dope somebodies (hi @nnennab) & the legendary @bunb at @complexcon. Shouts to @zaytovenbeatz for playing “Make The Trap Say Aye” at a swanky dinner. LEGEND. That king crab with a delectable dollop of caviar changed my life. At that moment, peasant seafood like tilapia was unworthy of my prestigious palate. And yes, (of course) I tried the $500 donut that called me broke & dusty. Special thanks to @misslaurenpaige & @complex for the experience #LetsEats (Swipe) A post shared by Alejandro NIGlesias (@alejandro_niglesias) on Jul 24, 2019 at 8:50pm PDT The first course was watermelon with caviar, prawns, oyster, salmon, tequila and king crab paired with a scintillating Magnum 2012 Champagne Piollot. Yes, it was as delicious as it looks. Source: Alex Ford/iOne Next stop was the hilariously filthy Four Loko activation that punched me in the face from across the convention center. It was sick, twisted and perfectly done. There were masked baddies, *whispers* private rooms (yes, those with the… mmhmm), dirty mags and incredible art design. I loved it. Source: Alex Ford/iOne Also spotted Saweetie moving Icy units, took some cool flicks at the Toyota booth and rocked with my favorite scumbag ScHoolboy Q whose DOPE performance I captured below. View this post on Instagram Sometimes I’m Kendrick but most times I’m secretly ScHoolboy Q who speaks to my sinister side while fueling a strong urge to rob your sweet granny LulaMae in the church parking lot. There were small issues with the app and long lines but it was a successful launch in a new city. Source: Alex Ford/iOne Special thanks to PUMA for showing so much love and inviting me to their exclusive after-party. Also gotta shout out Complex and Lauren and the Hustle & Co. team for taking care of me. Source: ComplexCon Btw I stayed in a $40/night Airbnb in the heart of south side Chicago–a very quiet and Uber-accessible corner of the supposed “war zone”–that’s close to downtown and Chicago Midway airport. Source: Airbnb Thanks for reading, follow me on IG (@alejandro_niglesias) and be on the lookout for my next BBT where I tell you all about my trip to Portland/Washington!
