The queen of Hip-Hop Soul and Godson are about to put on for the culture. Nas and Mary J. Blige will be hitting 22 cities together throughout the summer. According to Billboard the two New York natives have announced a joint tour that is set to commence Thursday, July 11. Produced by Live Nation the two will co-headline the dates throughout the concert series. Stops include Atlanta, Charlotte, St. Louis, Houston, Dallas, Toronto and two performances in Las Vegas. Her criminal past was cited for her being denied entry into a mental health program, instead of a possible jail sentence. Reports TMZ : We broke the story … the ‘Love & Hip Hop’ star submitted a petition in her child abuse case to allow her to get treatment for a serious mental illness, which she claimed she was diagnosed with around the same time she was charged with child abuse in Georgia. Tommie got her answer — no can do. According to a new legal doc obtained by TMZ … the Assistant District Attorney determined Lee’s criminal history and background — along with other evidence, facts and allegations — “make her an inappropriate candidate for an accountability court.” Back in January, Tommie was indicted on multiple child abuse charges and she’s facing up to 54 years in prison if she is convicted. Source: FOX / Getty Tonight’s episode of Empire is the episode that gives us a smidgen of hope right before the rug gets metaphorically snatched from under our feet. The episode begins with Cookie and Lucious at Terri’s church. They’re praying for Andre who has been undergoing cancer treatment for 6 weeks at this point, and the preacher says something interesting. He tells his flock to make peace with friends and foes and to get their lives in order so god will work in their favor. That seems to have struck a chord with Lucious. He thinks he has to make peace with Kingsley in order to save Andre. Meanwhile, Cookie entertains the possibility that Andre might die and Lucious doesn’t want to hear it. He doesn’t want her speaking negatively over their son. This makes Cookie feel like she can’t talk to him, so she goes right to Damon Cross’ house. Damon gives her what she needs—an ear. He knows exactly what to say to her because his daughter had cancer too. We can assume by his tone that his daughter is dead but at the same time, we still don’t quite know what happened to her. In other news, Cookie feels guilty about their friendship, as she should, because this is technically emotional cheating. The FBI agents convince Kingsley to wear a wire to set up Lucious. Hold that thought, but speaking of Kingsley, Lucious actually visits his mom, Tracy, to try to reconcile his past. He mentions that he wants a relationship with Kingsley. Tracy is hostile toward him at first but Lucious reminds her that she never told him about Kingsley in the first place. Then she goes on rambling about how she used to fantasize about them getting married and you realize just how gone she is. Lucious brings her back to the point tough and she says it’s going to have to be Kingsley’s decision no matter what, but she’ll talk to him. Next, we find Lucious and Thirsty kicking it. Kingsley interrupts, wanting to talk to Lucious in private. Thirsty exits and the conversation begins. Kingsley congratulates him on pulling empire back from the impossible then tries to finesse Lucious, but in an obvious way. He asks him where he got the money from and brings up overseas accounts. It’s super obvious. Lucious ain’t dumb and doesn’t answer his question. He does, however, ask Kingsley if his mom told him to come see him. Kingsley says that he’s there on his own and that his mom had nothing to do with it. That’s when Lucious really peeps game and cuts their time short. Later on, Kingsley visits his mom and she tells him about Lucious coming to visit. Then she starts talking about how Lucious did crack with her, but we all know Lucious never actually did drugs, just sold them. Lucious had actually just told Kingsley that he never did drugs during their visit. Then Tracy tells Kingsley that Lucious said he’d beat the baby out of her when she told him she was pregnant. Another lie. Even Kingsley doesn’t trust this. He doesn’t push back too much against his mother’s lies, but he does seem to be conflicted. The doctor tells Andre and family that his body has been responding well to treatment and there’s a chance that he could be cancer-free by the next treatment. Cookie goes to tell Damon the good news about Andre’s treatment and they toast to Andre’s health amid all this sexual tension. Then Cookie has a moment where she says she shouldn’t be there, packs her stuff up and apologizes for sending mixed signals. Then Damon says they both know he can give her what Lucious can’t and she swiftly dips out of there after telling him their thing is over. Kingsley heads back to Lucious and says he needs to know the real story about how he and Tracy met and if it’s true that Lucious got his mom hooked on crack. Lucious said when he first met Tracy she asked if she could try his stuff against every warning he gave her not to, but she did anyway and things obviously didn’t end well. He admits to selling her drugs but said he felt, in some weird way, that he was protecting her by giving her his drugs because maybe his stuff was clean compared to other people who might lace their products. Gee, thanks. Anyway, then Kingsley asks if he really threatened to beat kill him when his mom was pregnant with him. Lucious denies this. We know that Lucious can be evil, but family is everything to him. He explains to Kingsley that he would never have let Tracy raise him had he known he even existed. Kingsley said his mom told him he didn’t want him but Lucious says that that’s the furthest thing from the truth. Then Kingsley starts tearing up and shows him the wire, which actually looks like a Fitbit. Lucious takes it off, puts it in Kingsley’s hand, tears up, and tells him that his mom robbed him of the opportunity to be his father but he still wants to be there for him. He still wants that father/son relationship. They hug and it’s all mushy and tear-jerky and what not. But let’s not get too excited because someone’s big death day is coming and the feds are still lurking so things are going to go downhill soon. Kingsley tells the agent he’s done. She tries to intimidate him into continuing but Kingsley tells her that he’s not sure if he’s a Lyon, but he’s definitely not a rat. The agent threatens to come after all of them. Later on, Lucious brings Kingsley to dinner with the family. They’re all looking at him like But Lucious says he wants to properly introduce Kingsley to the family because Kingsley is his son and they need space to work on that bond. Kingsley apologizes and says he understands it may take a while to make things right but he will try. Lucious reminds them that he has had to make amends with everyone at the table as well, so this isn’t much different. Cookie is annoyed, but she’s willing to allow this because she’s just happy about Andre’s news. Finally, the episode wraps with the feds raiding Empire’s tour equipment after a show. Becky confronts them and they tell her that Lucious has been using the tour to move narcotics across the country and that the tour is over. However, we’re all like, come again? It can’t be Lucious smuggling drugs, can he? No! He’s too busy building Empire back up. He left that life decades ago! So who is it? Devastating news today out of the entertainment industry: Mya-Lecia Naylor, a British actress best known for her roles on the programs Almost Never and Millie Inbetween, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday. She was 16 years old. The tragedy was confirmed late Wednesday evening by CBBC, which released the following statement: We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from ‘Mille Inbetween’ and ‘Almost Never’, has very sadly died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer. We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. It remains unclear at this time just what caused the death of this rising British star. In a statement of her own to E! News, Alice Webb, Director at BBC Childrens said the following: “We are distraught and so terribly sad to hear the news about Mya. She has shone so brightly on our screens, both in Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, and it’s unthinkable that she won’t be part of our journey going forward. “She was hugely popular with our audience, a very talented actress, dancer and singer, and a real role model for her young fans.” All we can verify at the moment, courtesy of Naylor’s agents, A&J Management, is that the young actress collapsed prior to her passing. Aside from her acting credits, Naylor was an aspiring model and singer. She got her start as a toddler on the beloved British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. From there, Mya-Lecia booked roles in television movies and miniseries before landing her biggest role on the CBBC series Millie Inbetween. Following four years on the show, she transitioned over to the CBBC comedy/drama Almost Never. The official Instagram account for this latter series also mourned Naylor’s death last night, sharing the photo below along with a heartfelt statement that reads: Our thoughts are with Mya-Lecia’s family, friends and everyone that loved her at this very sad time. RIP Mya-Lecia. Many other tributes have also been posted online. For example, this is what I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star Emily Atack, who previously worked with Naylor, wrote: She was a beautiful and talented girl. A complete joy to be around on the set of Almost Never. Sending all my love to her family & friends. Rest in peace beautiful girl. Writer Matt Leys, who worked on Millie Inbetween with Naylor, referred to the news as “absolutely heartbreaking” on Twitter and added: “Goodbye our brilliant, funny, lovely Fran. You were a miracle. Watching the cast of Millie Inbetween grow with their characters, inform them, let us write it around them, has been an absolute joy. Back in November, we reported that Chip and Joanna Gaines were returning to television . Now, we know which TV network they’re taking over and they’ve announced their very own streaming service. But some fans are feeling a little put out — and see this as nothing but a calculated business move designed to enrich the Gaines brand. The Wrap reports that Allison Page of HGTV has been named the president of an exciting new project. That project will be a “multiplatform joint venture between Discovery, Inc. and the Gaines’ Magnolia brand.” The Fixer Upper stars will be taking over what we currently know as the DIY Network, which falls under the Discovery umbrella. Though we do not yet know the names of this new channel, TVE app, and SVOD service, we do know one thing. The world has been told to expect to see “Magnolia” somewhere in there. Discovery CEO David Zaslav released a statement on this new venture. “Chip and Joanna Gaines have become trusted, household names since the debut of Fixer Upper ,” Zaslav notes. “And through this joint venture,” he continues. “Discovery is proud to extend our relationship with them.” “They’ve got authenticity and relatability,” he observes. Zaslav describes those traits as forming “that special something that is so difficult in our business to find.” Zaslav goes on to explain why Discovery knows that investing in the Gaineses is the right move. “People love them, their taste, their businesses,” he points out. “They’ve built an ecosystem that aligns perfectly with our vision at Discovery,” he adds. Zaslav points out that Discovery has a lot of motivation “for fueling people’s passions.” So it seems like the brands are a natural fit for each other. Chip and Joanna Gaines also released a joint statement about this exciting new development. “Our intention with this network,” the statement begins. The Gaineses continue: “is to create and curate content that inspires, encourages, and helps to build bridges across our communities.” “We want honest, authentic programming,” the statement affirms. They want to create content “that brings families together.” “We believe David Zaslav and the team at Discovery are the perfect partners for this ambitious joint venture,” The Gaineses express. “And,” their statement continues. “We know Allison Page is the right person to lead this charge.” She’s certainly going to have her hands full, but she’s proven herself already at HGTV. “We’re ready to get started,” Chip and Joanna’s statement concludes. “And are expectant for all that’s ahead.” We’re still waiting on the names that all of these things will have, however. So when is all of this going down? The launch is scheduled for the summer of 2020. As exciting as this is for fans, others feel a little put off. It seems clear that Chip and Joanna have made a number of business decision with the aim of raking in as much cash as possible. Some of us would say that there’s nothing wrong with that, but others feel that this is a betrayal of their wholesome family image. Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville doesn’t make many headlines these days. That’s not surprising, given that Brandi was fired from RHOBH way back in 2015, and life after reality fame usually isn’t very kind to those who have been chewed up and spit out by the Bravo machine. But Brandi has never been one to relinquish the spotlight without a fight, and so, she’s clung to relevance in the usual ways — snarky comments about her former co-stars, a sporadically-produced podcast, etc. Of course, none of that has helped Brandi retain household name status (if she ever reached such heights to begin with) and these days, it seems she’s very much in danger of fading into obscurity. The good news is, Brandi is once again garnering major attention on social media this week. The bad news is, it’s all because of some unflattering photos and her facepalm-inducing response. The images below appeared on Twitter and Instagram earlier this week. They appear to show Brandi during a night out, and as you can see, she looks somewhat worse for wear. Glanville quickly took to Twitter to offer an explanation: “I’ve been VERY open about Suffering from depression and having recently switched antidepressants,” the mother of two wrote. “So please please stop these negative comments unless you really just want to send me over the f–king edge. I’m sad and ashamed isn’t that enough?” She later added: “Sorry for my tweet I just realized the only people I owe explanations to are my family. “I’m not 25 my body isn’t perfect and I got wasted i’m sure it’s happened to plenty of you however you don’t have people taking your picture and putting on the internet.” Sad stuff, to be sure, but did Brandi really think she would lessen the negative attention by revealing that she’s in the habit of binge drinking while experimenting with new psychiatric medications? That’s simply not a good look at any age, and not surprisingly, Brandi received even more blowback from her explanatory tweets. And here’s how she responded: Brandi Glanville Begs For Compassion “I’m telling you I’m embarrassed,” Brandi tearfully admits, as she pleads for compassion. She also admits to struggling as she watches her friends enjoy lives with their “perfect husbands.” (You may recall that Brandi’s ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, left her for LeAnn Rimes following a very public cheating scandal.) It’s hard not to feel sympathy for Brandi, but many Instagram users commented that they don’t feel bad for her in the slightest, as Brandi has rarely shown compassion to others who are suffering. It’s a complex situation, but we say a good rule of thumb is to always ease up on those who appear to be suffering. Here’s hoping Brandi will eventually get whatever kind of help she needs.
Mercedes Javid has done it, folks. The veteran Shahs of Sunset star has not just given birth to her very first child… … she has done so at the age of 46! The Bravo personality and her husband, Tommy Feight, welcomed a baby boy on Wednesday, MJ’s rep confirmed exclusively to E! News. The child’s name? Shams Francis Feight. The child’s measurements? He weighed in today at six pounds and nine ounces and was born in Los Angeles. The little boy was also born via C-Section, with MJ feeling “eternally grateful and blessed” following this development, according to her rep. The name is unusual, of course, but it has a meaning: Shams is in honor of MJ’s father, who passed away; while Francis is in honor of Tommy’s mom, who is also no longer with us. “Mom and baby are doing great. The baby is happy and healthy,” the rep adds. This is so great to hear… because Javid has documented her difficult pregnancy on social media. She has been very open about her struggles. Two months ago, for example, the star revealed that she was hospitalized after her cervix “measured too short,” which is considered a “high risk” for a miscarriage. As Shahs of Sunset fans know well, MJ chose to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF) in hopes of expanding her family with Tommy. Moreover, she went through numerous surgeries to remove uterine polyps in preparation for an embryo transfer. Simply put: She REALLY wanted this baby. “The truth is that I have a lot of ups and downs, moment to moment, especially on the hormones from IVF stuff,” she told Us Weekly last year, adding: “You retain a lot of water. You feel really great one moment and then terrible another moment. “That’s the reason why I share because, in my Instagram Stories for instance, I’ll say, ‘I don’t feel good today, but I want everyone else to know not to beat themselves up, to be kind to yourself and know that those days happen to everyone.” Keeping followers apprised of her status, MJ also wrote the following after a recent hospital visit: “Feeling overwhelmed with excitement, gratefulness, and hopeful about what lies ahead. “My husband and I are very grateful and hopeful and appreciative of this journey and what is to come. “We wouldn’t have made it this far without my doctors. My favorite thing throughout this journey is going to the doctor to see the baby on the ultrasound.” Earlier this week, former Shahs of Sunset star Jessica Parido announced that she secretly gave birth to a baby boy, telling folks on Instagram: “I contemplated never posting about it and carrying on but IM A MOM. I have a son, a beautiful little miracle who I’ll cherish the rest of my life and to not share this would be not sharing me.” Hey now! Congrats to Jessica and MJ!
