A meeting between Ms. Savage and her family was said to be under coordination with a report stating Kelly’s team ended talks on when and where that reunion could take place. TMZ reports : R. Kelly’s team is having a hard time arranging a meeting between Joycelyn Savage and her parents … because both sides can’t agree on a location. R. Kelly’s rep, Darrell Johnson, tells TMZ … Joycelyn is not opposed to meeting with her mom and dad, but she only wants to meet them in Chicago. We’re told the Savage family wants to meet Joycelyn at her grandmother’s home — which is outside the Windy City — because Grandma’s battling cancer. The Savages have made it clear from the beginning … they want to meet in a neutral location outside of Chicago. So, both sides remain at a standstill … even though it’s been two weeks since R. Kelly’s team agreed to set up a meeting between Joycelyn and her fam. In updates, The Savage family’s attorney Gerald Griggs stated the family was willing to work with to Ms. Savage’s request that the meeting takes place in Chicago but that they didn’t hear back from Kelly’s team until later. Apparently my “tweets” were not appropriate for the twitter community…. Despite having been on twitter since the beginning… Despite having no followers on twitter after bing on twitter since the beginning… Despite people posting the most insane shit all day, every day….from their assholes getting licked to racist shit… Yet I am the one targeted and suspended off the platform… This has happened to me on EVERY social media account, except twitter…until today. Which always is confusing to me, because everyone else posts way much fucking worse. The things I tweeted that got me suspended weren’t bad, weren’t racist, weren’t even funny. Maybe it’s cuz I said something about Trans being a myth….because they are still men with their dicks cut off….maybe it was asking that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez about her tits… Either way….it’s PG-13 commentary at best… I could be way worse, people are way worse…yet here I am suspended…. The world is fucking nuts. I’ve been a victim of censorship for so long and I’m not even that bad…It’s just weird when you look at what else is out there not getting censored, and you think “well why did I get deleted when people do way worse”…. I’ve always hated social media, I’ve always felt it was evil corporations censoring the thoughts of the people…not allowing original thought, disguised as this fun and stupid game…. But we are in a time where we don’t exist without social media, so the evil corporations can just erase you. I am not delusional, I’m back burner of the internet, the site never went viral and no one cares about it. I do not think that I am a target from the evil empire out there. I am well aware that I barely exist and that no one reads or cares about this site. I just don’t understand why I get flagged and suspended and deleted….when people are way worse. Source: NurPhoto / Getty Man Gets Caught Trying To Smuggle An Orangutan Into His Country A Russian man was arrested at an airport in Bali after attempting to smuggle a drugged baby orangutan in his luggage out of the air hub and back to his home country. The tourist is now facing anywhere up to $7,000 in fines and a five year stay in prison. This past Friday night, Andrei Zhestkov was detained at Ngurah Rai International Airport before boarding his flight back to Russia, according to reports from The Independent . Officials found a 2-year-old orangutan fast asleep in a basket–evidently because he was drugged with allergy pills–after a routine security screening. The 27-year-old reportedly told officials that he had been given the protected primate by his friend, who purchased the animal for $3,000 at a street market. He explained that his friend is also from Russia and had apparently convinced him he could take the orangutan home to keep as a pet, according to reports from The Guardian. But that wasn’t all the wildlife this man had stored in his suitcase, authorities also discovered two geckos and five lizards in the man’s luggage. For all of these offenses, the would-be smuggler faces up to five years in prison and $7,000 in fines. “[Zhestkov] seemed prepared, like he was transporting a baby,” Bali conservation official I Ketut Catur Marbawa said of the scene, revealing that the Russian man had also packed baby formula and blankets. The baby orangutan is now being cared for by the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency, BBC reports . As noted by the World Wildlife Foundation , orangutans are a critically endangered species with a few more than 100,000 known to be remaining across the globe.

T hree days out of the week Amantina Sosa would wake up before the sun rose to prepare for an early morning shift at Starbucks. Following her barista shift Sosa—a Bronx native—would hop on the train and rush from the Midtown Starbucks location to Harlem to participate in a tech and entrepreneurship program designed for underserved adults. Prior to getting involved with the program, she says she would have never considered pursuing a career in tech, and now she’s on a path to creating her own app. “I didn’t think that I could pursue tech as a career,” she said. “This program made me see that tech wasn’t something that was far in reach.” For Sosa, the early mornings and long days were worth it because she knew she was investing in her future. Like Sosa, many underserved young adults in New York City, have struggled to forge their own paths due to the lack of access and exposure to career readiness resources. Disrupt Harlem Code Squad—a Harlem-based free 16-week program designed to empower adults between the ages of 18 and 24 to step into entrepreneurship and expose them to career pathways in tech—is aiming to change that narrative. Participants learn how to code, experience what it’s like to work at tech companies first-hand through field trips, and receive ongoing mentorship from tech leaders and entrepreneurs. Students are placed on teams and work on creating their own digital projects which are presented before a panel of judges on Demo Day. The program has proven to be nothing short of impactful. A lot of the participants in the 2018 cohort say that being a part of Disrupt Harlem has given them a strong sense of purpose and inspired them to further their entrepreneurial endeavors. For many of the students representation was key; seeing themselves reflected in their instructors and mentors had a positive influence. “It really showed me that technology is a driving force in everything,” said participant Aniya Carter . Carter, a recent college grad, has always had a passion for entrepreneurship and says that Disrupt Harlem Code Squad provided her with the foundation to build her own business. For her Demo Day project, she created a platform called Jigsaw which helps connect job seekers and employers. “It was a great experience. It was encouraging to see that everyone looked like me. It was run by Black people and the students were Black which was motivating.” Like Carter, program participant Mark Farrel hopes to be at the helm of his own business within the next few years. Farrel—who worked at Bloomingdale’s while participating in Disrupt Harlem Code Squad—has always been passionate about pursuing a career in fashion. The Harlemite says the program has shown him how he can merge fashion and technology. “It became my safe haven. Prior to this, I didn’t have a support system,” Farrel told NewsOne. “It caters to individuals who aren’t taking the traditional educational route. It showed me how I can disrupt the fashion industry through technology.” Farrel and his team created an app called CopIt which gives you details about a piece of clothing by taking a photo. He says he wants to continue to learn more about front-end and back-end development and hopes to become an app developer in the future. There is a need for culturally sensitive entrepreneurship and tech education programs for young adults in inner-city communities. Ones that are understanding of the daily struggles that they face and can provide guidance and show them how to overcome them. “DHCS provides a holistic approach to educating young adults. We don’t just teach the tech skills needed to enter the industry, but also what’s traditionally considered soft skills. Things like emotional intelligence and networking are key in developing a successful career,” said Program Director Philomena Boateng . “Over the course of the program, our students have grown as not only entrepreneurs and tech professionals. We often say our network is our net worth and they’ve truly taken steps to meet new people and jumpstart their careers.” DHCS is gearing up for its next cohort and plans on continuing to make an impact in the lives of young adults of color in New York City. Source: Ramin Talaie / Getty Tyson Is Recalling Almost 70,000 Pounds Of Their Chicken The United States Department of Argiculture announced on Thursday that Tyson Foods, Inc. recalled 69,093 pounds of their frozen chicken strip. According to the company, Tyson fears that the food was contaminated with metal. For everyone out there with some chicken in their freezer wondering which product specifically, it’s the buffalo and crispy style ready-to-eat variety, which were produced on November 30, 2018. That means that all of the recalled products should have a “best if used by” date of Nov. 30, 2019, along with the establishment number “P-7221” printed on the back. These products were shipped all around the country, including going to Washington and Michigan for “ institutional use. “ The decision to recall the chicken came after a pair of customers complained of “extraneous material” in their strips. This most recent situation definitely isn’t the first time a product of theirs has caused some trouble for the company–as a matter of fact, it’s not even the first time this year. Tyson asked customers to return 36,000 pounds of chicken nuggets back in January because they may have been contaminated with rubber. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service gave this recall a “Class I” label, which means a high health risk and a “situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.” Yikes. The agency says if you have any potentially contaminated strips in your fridge or freezer at the moment, you should return them to the store you got them from or just throw them out. The release also points out that “there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.”
