It wasn’t long ago that Taylor Momsen blamed her “damaged” and abrasive attitude on her parents , who forced her into modeling and acting so early. Now she appears to be backing off that sentiment. The Gossip Girl star tells Kerrang! magazine (UK) that her comments were taken out of context when she said her folks made her “miserable” and “upset.” “No two year old wants to be working, but I had no choice,” Taylor said. “My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I didn’t have a real life.” In a rare moment of softness, Taylor now lets her parents off the hook, revealing she didn’t really mean to slam mom and dad, who felt “horrible” about all this. “I love my mom and dad. Maybe I didn’t have the childhood people think you should have, but I still went through the ages, I was still a child,” she says now . “Maybe it wasn’t a conventional one, but you know, I like where I am now so it’s OK.” We like where she is too. Now if she would just smile once in awhile … The Pretty Reckless – Make Me Wanna Die

In President Obama’s Tucson speech last week, he said the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords should not be blamed on rhetoric by any person or group, while at the same time calling for a more civil, positive national discourse. Amen. Joan Rivers apparently missed this memo. Asked about Palin at the Critic’s Choice Awards party in Hollywood, Rivers said people blaming Palin for the Tucson tragedy are right, adding that “this woman is just stupid and a threat.” To what? The English language maybe. Beyond that? Listen to Rivers’ absurd comments below: Joan Rivers Calls Out Sarah Palin We’re with Palin on this one. The mindless finger pointing has to stop. Taking her to task for her actual actions is one thing. Baseless nonsense like this quite another.

Little black dresses rule the red carpet, with Nicole Kidman, Keri Hilson and more going with darker hues. By Kara Warner Mila Kunis arrives at the 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ FilmMagic There are many things to love about awards season, particularly for the pop-culture junkies and celebrity obsessed. There are fancy parties, pretty people, glitz, glamour, etc., with most of those things revolving around fashion. (Check out all of the hottest fashion from the 2011 Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet.) At Friday night’s(January 14) Critics’ Choice Movie Awards , there were plenty of fancy threads to appreciate — particularly for the few attendees who sported uniquely colored ensembles. Hailee Steinfeld’s peaches-and-cream Marchesa and Kim Kardashian’s form-fitting, fire-engine-red Vera Wang gown were prime examples. Not to mention Natalie Portman’s white number with black trim. But for the few splashes of color, there were far more folks sporting variations on one shade: black. Naturally, we expect to see most of the men in black, since they typically sport tuxedos, but plenty of ladies went with a darker wardrobe as well. Prime examples: Best Supporting Actress nominee Mila Kunis wore a short, black Nina Ricci; Eva Mendes rocked a flowy-yet-saucy black mini-dress embellished with a large bow; Nicole Kidman chose a long, drapey black number; and Keri Hilson selected a sparkly-bustier, silky black ensemble. And the list doesn’t end there: Funnywomen Joan Rivers and Sarah Silverman also joined the raven-adorned ranks. But everyone knows a good red carpet isn’t just about the ladies; we’d be remiss if we didn’t recognize a few gentlemen who stood out in the crowd. Justin Bieber looked suave, even though he attempted to fool everyone by wearing framed glasses and a mustache. The always dapper John Legend wore a charcoal Gucci suit, and “The Town” star Jeremy Renner and “Chuck”/”Tangled” actor Zachary Levi also got noticed. Band opens Memories Tour with set of songs from 1994’s Blue Album. By Matt Elias Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo performs in San Francisco on Monday Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/Getty Images “You guys ready to take a ride on the Weezer time machine?” shouted Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo as he and his band took the stage at the Nob Hill Masonic Center on the first night of Weezer’s Memories Tour , in San Francisco. Night one was billed as the “Blue” evening, with the band playing its 1994 self-titled debut (a.k.a. the Blue Album ) in its entirety. But there was much more in store for the Weezer faithful than Rivers had clued us in on back in August on the set of the foursome’s “Memories” music video . Before the Blue tunes got under way, the trip down memory lane began with a retrospective set of hits. Kicking things off appropriately with the Hurley single “Memories,” the band worked its way backward through its catalog. Rivers began most of the songs by shouting out the year and the album it was from, trekking all the way back to “Falling for You” from 1996’s Pinkerton. The show itself was loose and fun, with Rivers racing up and down the isles, eventually making his way up to the soundboard on the balcony. By “Pork and Beans,” the fourth song of the 10-song mini-set, Rivers was streaming toilet paper rolls into the crowd and anointing people with water. Although there were 3,000 fans in attendance, Rivers made sure each one felt as if he or she had a front-row seat — and likely gave them a high five too. As the set — which also included “Beverly Hills,” “Keep Fishin’ ” and “Hash Pipe” — wound down, the band broke for intermission. During the break, fans were treated to a treasure trove of artifacts courtesy of Weezer’s resident historian/ photographer/ jack of all trades, Karl Koch. The slide show, narrated by Koch, highlighted Weezer’s early days: a flier from L.A.’s Club Dump (now the Viper Room), an early set list that pretty much would come to be the Blue Album, a photo of the actual garage described in “In the Garage” off the Blue Album (yes, it exists), just to name a few. With intermission over, it was time for the evening’s main course. A simple blue background with the band’s name, similar to the Blue Album cover, replaced the lighted flying W. It was as if the band were saying “let the music speak for itself.” They kept it pretty simple for the Blue Album portion of the night. There were fewer antics — the band were anchored in their positions — but by no means was it a subdued performance. It probably was the most sing-along portion of the night, especially during “Buddy Holly” and “Say It Ain’t So.” At one point during “Surf Wax America,” a fan made his way onstage and mingled with the band. They kept it cool, showing not an ounce of frustration. As the band hammered away onstage, the audience stayed on its feet for the entire night. There was a special feeling in the air, a feeling that you were being treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. When it was all over, as the final notes of “Only in Dreams” hung in the air, the band grouped at the foot of the stage and took a simple bow to thunderous applause. A modest gesture to make, but it speaks volumes to the band’s longevity and devoted fanbase. And of course, Rivers couldn’t get away without high-fiving a few fans on his way offstage.
