Governor Sarah Palin

Yesterday was incredible. Again I got to witness history in the making, from a front row seat. Starting out the day with Dad’s choice of Governor Sarah Palin as his nominee for Vice President is a moment on stage I will never forget. She and her family are so down to earth and so much fun. I could not be any luckier to have these wonderful people join us on the road. I had the pleasure of spending the day with kids Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Not only do we have a new Vice Presidential nominee, but I have three new awesome girls to share the road with. I am looking forward to spending more time with them hanging out on the Straight Talk Express. It feels a bit like we’re welcoming a few new blogettes to the site and my life. I couldn’t be happier, more pleased or excited. This has truly been one of the best days on the trail so far. P.S. And in repsonse to many of our fans, we’re happy to announce the opening of McCainBlogetteStore.com with shirts, hats and other items. Let us know what you think! Colorado

We had a really busy day in Colorado last week. Our schedule was packed with TV interviews, stops at local HQ offices to thank supporters and even a few book signings were thrown in for good measure. Through it all, it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful everyone has been. I can’t thank you all enough for the work you’re doing to get Dad elected. I know it sometimes seems like an uphill battle, but as anyone who has followed my dad knows, he always loves proving the experts wrong. The best surprise of the day was catching up with Mom at our hotel where she surprised me with this really cute jacket for my birthday. As we head into the final week, stay tuned. There will be some surprising things ahead! Song of the Day: “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat” by Bob Dylan

Musings on Politics from a Pop Culture Girl

When I started the Blogette last year, I wanted to show people what happens behind the scenes in a national campaign. I did this because I love my family and I knew that it might surprise people to see how normal this experience can be. I know this has been a difficult campaign for a lot of people. I know there are many who just want to get past the last eight years. And I know there are people who are so desperate for change they will do anything to get what they think is a better deal. I make no excuses for the state of politics today. But I want everyone to know that my dad is more than ready to be the President this country needs right now. Everyone always assumed Iraq would be this campaign’s number one hurdle. The only thing I respect more than people’s opinions about how to proceed in Iraq are the men and women who are bravely serving our country in harm’s way every single day. My Dad is the only candidate with real military experience who has the support of an overwhelming majority of current service members. And if you really want to know how much I trust him, remember that I have two brothers who are serving, one of whom is about to redeploy. Of course, all of this is easy to miss, because this election is clearly about moving past the current administration and fixing the economy. If you honestly think someone with extremely limited experience will solve the severe problems we have in this country then, by all means, vote for Senator Obama. If you want to give complete control of our government to the Democrats who have made a real mess of things over the last two years they’ve controlled Congress, then go ahead and vote for Senator Obama. And, if you really believe that our taxes should be higher and that government should have a bigger role in our lives, vote for Senator Obama. Some of you have asked me how I can support my Dad or call myself a Republican when times are so tough, especially since my own personal beliefs don’t always sync with the GOP. Well, I have asked myself that same question a lot. But I support my Dad through it all because I know this: my Dad will be unlike ANY other Republican president. My father has the experience, leadership skills, and proven dedication to serve. I only wish people could understand that Dad will bring about the change everyone is so hungry for in a much more real way than Senator Obama could ever possibly hope to do at this stage in his political career. So, forget everything you’ve heard or seen. Just know this: everyone wants change. And while some people can only talk about it, my dad will bring it. Don’t give up on him. He is never going to give up on you. And by you, I mean every American. Regardless of age, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation or political ideology; a vote for John McCain is a vote to change our country for the better. Don’t hope for a better future. Vote for one. Song of the Day: “Believe” by The Bravery

More Cowbell

We spent another day in Colorado, where the unique persona of the West is really front and center. From the bales of hay to the cowboy hats, you know exactly what part of the country you’re in. Everyone has been so friendly and supportive at these events, and I know how much this energy means to Dad. We’re going to have a report soon on our travels through Nevada with Linda Ramone, so stay tuned! And a special word of thanks for the overwhelming positive responses to yesterday’s post . Linda Ramone Part 2

It’s been an amazing week! Linda Ramone was kind enough to join us for a few days as we did interviews and visited HQs throughout Nevada and Las Vegas, which is one of my favorite cities. The energy in Vegas is fantastic, and it’s been a dream to get to know Linda. We ended the day with an incredibly fun event at the Hard Rock and followed it up by recording a segment for MTV News, which was exciting to say the least. I cannot believe we’re less than five days away from the election. Thanks again to everyone for your words of encouragement. We’re going to make it! Linda Ramone

I’ve mentioned before that if I had to pick my favorite band of all time, it would most likely be The Ramones. Johnny Ramone’s band changed the rules for rock music from 1974 through the late 90’s. Their music ignited the punk-rock movement and their style was ground-breaking, as was their loud, fast-paced music. We might not have the “Guitar Hero” sensation of today were it not for The Ramones. Last year, I did a post on a particular song we selected of theirs that was featured on the site. So, you can imagine how thrilling it was to be able to spend time with a living legend in the history of rock music. Linda was so helpful and the volunteers were so excited to meet her. Thank you so much for coming out and getting involved, I know how much everyone appreciates it! Song of the Day: “Blitzkrieg Bop” by The Ramones

Campaigning with Joe the Plumber

Energy right now on the road is at an all-time high. People are fired up and you can see it in everyone’s face. It’s also evident in the increased staff who are with us now on the road. They can sense Dad’s momentum is building. I could not be more proud of him. It was so much fun having Joe the Plumber come on the road with us and he couldn’t have been nicer. Things keep getting crazier and crazier and in the next few days both my brothers and sister, Bridget, will be joining us – can’t wait! Song of the Day: “Underneath the Stars” by The Cure

Kristen Stewart Weighs In On ‘Wanted 2’ Rumors

‘I have nothing nailed down,’ ‘Eclipse’ actress says of playing the Angelina Jolie role in the sequel. By Jocelyn Vena Kristen Stewart Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage In late April, rumors began surfacing online that “Twilight Saga” star Kristen Stewart was in the running for the role originated by Angelina Jolie in “Wanted 2.” The story was that Stewart is director Timur Bekmambetov’s top choice to replace Jolie in the sequel, pitting her against the returning James McAvoy as reluctant assassin Wesley Gibson. If hired, Stewart would play “a young, ass-kicking assassin in the Fraternity.” While much has been hush-hush about the speculation since it was initially reported, the star is now speaking up about the casting talk, saying that nothing is set in stone yet. “Right now, I have two projects lined up,” Stewart told Moviehole.net . “I’m doing ‘On the Road’ this summer and then I’m doing ‘Breaking Dawn.’ So other than that I have nothing nailed down.” With it still unknown whether “Breaking Dawn” will be two movies or one, it seems that Stewart’s schedule is definitely filled up for the time being. Regarding her involvement in the upcoming film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road,” she said last month, “I am very much attached to a movie that has been trying to get made forever. Not that this is going to help it, but maybe I can just brag a little bit. I am super-excited about it, too. I am about to play Marylou in ‘On the Road.’ So that’s a big deal.” In the same interview, fellow “Twilight” star Taylor Lautner dished that he has yet to even think about filming “Stretch Armstrong.” “It’s not happening for a while though, about a year from now,” he said. “I’m doing a movie called ‘Abduction,’ which starts in about a month. Then ‘Breaking Dawn.’ And hopefully ‘Stretch’ after that.” Would you like to see Stewart in “Wanted 2”? Tell us in the comments! Bret Michaels To Appear On ‘American Idol’ Tonight: Report

TMZ cites ‘spies’ as saying rocker will appear on ‘Idol’ finale. By MTV News staff Bret Michaels Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images Bret Michaels will appear on the “American Idol” finale tonight, TMZ reported on Wednesday evening (May 26). The site cited its ” ‘Idol’ spies” as saying the singer will make a “cameo” during the show, although at press time it was unclear whether he might perform. Last month, Michaels was hospitalized for a serious brain hemorrhage and was rushed to the hospital again last week due to a “warning stroke.” Despite his serious medical condition, Michaels has bounced back with vigor, making many television appearances in recent weeks — including a victory on the “Celebrity Apprentice” — and insisting that he’ll resume his tour with an appearance in Mississippi on Friday night. “I am not at 100 percent yet, but I have every intention of trying to continue the tour starting Friday in Biloxi,” he wrote in a message posted on his official website earlier this week. “I hope to see your rockin rollin, smiling faces on the road — that is the best medicine I can think of right now. You rock my world.” Michaels is set to perform at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, followed by another 39 shows from New Jersey to Washington. The tour is not expected to finish up until early October in San Antonio. But hitting the road so soon after his multiple health problems seems to carry its fair share of dangers. Michaels admitted that his doctor warned him about the risks of even appearing on the “Apprentice” finale, saying, “Yes it’s been a risk, but I wanted to be here. I came to win and I’m glad to be on the show.” Following the subarachnoid brain hemorrhage he suffered last month, Michaels landed back in the hospital last week with a so-called warning stroke. Doctors also discovered the singer has a hole in his heart and have scheduled him for surgery to correct the issue in the fall. Yet Michaels clearly remains upbeat and committed to returning to his strenuous touring life. “With all of my heart, soul and the remaining organs I have left (lol) I would like to thank each and every one of you for all of your support and awesomeness,” Michaels wrote in his message. “All the good vibes and well wishes gave me the strength to go back to New York and win ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’ ” Related Photos Bret Michaels’ Career In Photos Related Artists Bret Michaels
