Robert Pattinson’s Not Suiting Up For ‘Daredevil’ … Yet

The ‘Water for Elephants’ star said he fears fanboy backlash when it comes to superhero movies. By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News Imagine Robert Pattinson in tights, fighting crime as an iconic character. While the heartthrob would undoubtedly have the Twihards lining up for days to see him play a superhero, he thinks there’s one set of moviegoers who wouldn’t be nearly as keen on the idea: fanboys! During Friday’s “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a live, 30-minute chat with the “Water for Elephants” star, RPattz revealed he would, in fact, take on a superhero role if it were presented to him. “I’d love [to] definitely.” But the actor does have some reservations about taking on the genre, including which superhero he would play. “I don’t know what superhero you’d do. Is there any left?” he asked. Robert did, however, admit that there’s one character he’d like to suit up for, but he gave pause when he realized what a stir he might cause by even mentioning it. “I shouldn’t even say this stuff, ’cause all the little fanboys will be like, ‘No! I’m gonna shoot him!’ ” he joked. So, while we may never know which character Robert is “such a big fan” of, we do know that he’s not yet in contention for the role of Matt Murdock in “Eclipse” director David Slade’s upcoming “Daredevil” reboot . “I don’t know where that one came from at all,” Robert said of the rumors that he was lined up to play the comic book vigilante. But, that wasn’t the only thing he found confusing about the future remake. When MTV News mentioned another “Daredevil” was in the works, Robert asked, “[That] Ben Affleck movie?” He then pondered with a laugh about the 2003 flick, “That’s weird, didn’t that only come out about three years ago?” The 24-year-old star did have some casting ideas of his own. “Get David Slade to play him,” Robert said of his former “Eclipse” director. “Oh no, he should play, who’s the bald guy? Bullseye!” Which superhero would you like to see Robert Pattinson play? Robert Pattinson Dishes On Awkward Love Scenes

‘Reese [Witherspoon] had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig,’ RPattz says of scene in ‘Water for Elephants.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News We’ve heard Robert Pattinson talk about his love scenes before. “Lot of my crack in it!” he once laughed to us about what we can expect in the upcoming drama ” Bel Ami .” And we’ve even seen photographic evidence of his honeymoon boom-boom with Kristen Stewart in December’s first installment of ” Breaking Dawn .” But when it comes to Pattinson’s amorous encounters onscreen, his fans can never get enough. It’s no surprise then that one Twitter user submitted a question during “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” asking if the actor felt awkward doing love scenes with “Water for Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon. Awkward, no. Sick? Well, yes. “The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold,” Pattinson explained. “I’m not generally that awkward doing stuff apart from when I’ve got my belly coming out. But my nose is running all over the place and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig.” “We were doing this really passionate love scene,” he added with a giggle. “It was really stupid. I guess I’m not that awkward anymore.” The key with any love scene, Pattinson went on to make clear, is that it has to make sense within the context of the story. You can’t just get freaky in front of the camera because someone thinks it’ll boost ticket sales. “It always depends. You’ve got to really know what you’re doing. If it’s just a sort of arbitrary love scene, it’d be quite difficult,” he said. And what of his scene with Stewart in “Breaking Dawn,” the one we got an early, feather-filled glimpse of in January? Rob hesitated before saying simply, “The one on ‘Breaking Dawn’ is pretty funny.” Check out everything we’ve got on ” Water for Elephants .” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Robert Pattinson Says Mackenzie Foy Is Cashing In On ‘Breaking Dawn’ Set

Pattinson and Kristen Stewart fork over dough whenever they swear in front of their young co-star — which happens a lot. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News For those who weren’t able to tune into our “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” live interview on Friday (March 18), the range of topics covered during our exclusive 30-minute sit-down interview with the “Water for Elephants” and “Twilight” star ran the gamut from a look back at our first MTV interview with him, an RPattz hairstyle retrospective and, of course, a few details about “Breaking Dawn: Part 1.” We particularly wanted Pattinson’s thoughts about his young co-star Mackenzie Foy, who is playing the much buzzed-about role of Renesmee , Edward and Bella’s daughter.

Robert Pattinson On His Leading Ladies: ‘I Like Hot Girls’

Actor gushes about Reese Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart and Uma Thurman, calling them ‘experienced and passionate people.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in “Water for Elephants” Photo: David James/FOX Given his otherworldly popularity, it seems as if any time Robert Pattinson appears in a film, the majority of the media attention and coverage focuses mainly on the man himself, not his various (and equally attractive) co-stars. As such, Pattinson’s lovely leading ladies are occasionally overlooked and likely find themselves constantly answering questions about the “Twilight” star and not the other way around. However, during our live interview with Pattinson on Friday (March 18), “MTV News First: Robert Pattinson,” we asked the actor to talk about his beautiful co-stars, beginning with Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, who plays his love interest in the upcoming romance “Water for Elephants.” When asked whether he was intimidated by Witherspoon, given her award-winning career, Pattinson admitted that he was — but only for a few minutes. “Anyone who’s really famous and really great, it’s always going to be slightly intimidating,” he said. “But she has such a nice energy about her, and [the intimidation] is gone within the first couple of seconds.” Regarding his track record of lovely co-stars (Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Emile de Ravin in “Remember Me” and Uma Thurman in the upcoming film “Bel Ami”), Pattinson joked that he only works with lovely ladies. “I like hot girls,” he joked. “I like them. I like being in movies with lots of hot girls,” he said with a laugh, before getting serious to consider his current and former co-stars. “They’re all pretty different,” he said. “They’re all very strong, actually. I always end up being in movies with very experienced and passionate people. They’re never just flimsy floozies.” Who is your favorite RPattz leading lady? Let us know in the comments below! ‘Water For Elephants’ Clip: Robert Pattinson Plans His Getaway

In MTV-premiered sneak peek, RPattz asks Reese Witherspoon to run away with him. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson in “Water For Elephants Photo: 20th Century Fox What would you do if Robert Pattinson asked you to run away with him? That’s the question Reese Witherspoon is compelled to answer in a brand-new exclusive clip from “Water for Elephants” that we debuted during “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a 30-minute live chat with the actor on Friday (March 18). The clip comes at a point in the movie when Jacob (Pattinson) and Marlena (Witherspoon) are considering fleeing the circus in which they both work. The pair have fallen for each other, though Marlena is married to an unstable animal trainer named August (Christoph Waltz). His life at risk, Jacob is planning to jump from the circus’ train. “If we don’t get too far, there’s a hotel in Salem,” Marlena tells him. “But don’t stay longer than the night.” “Just come with me,” he says to her considerable vexation. “You think there’s nothing out there for you, but there is. You just can’t see it.” “Jacob, you don’t understand. I can’t. He’ll find me,” she tells him, referring to her husband. “Marlena, there’s a better kind of life that’s meant for you,” he answers. “Whether that life is with me or not, whether you love me or not, it doesn’t matter. But it’s got to be now.” Jacob then reaches out for her hand, offering up a smoldering look that would make Edward Cullen proud. After a few seconds of hesitation, Marlena takes his hand in hers. Wouldn’t you? What happens after that? You’ll just have to find out when the movie hits theaters April 22. Robert Pattinson Cries B.S. In His #1 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By MTV News staff Robert Pattinson at the “Eclipse” premiere in 2010 Photo: Todd Williamson/WireImage Our weeklong celebration of all things Robert Pattinson has almost reached its glorious, OME-laden conclusion with the debut of “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” our 30-minute conversation with the “Twilight” star. But before the show goes live at 8:56 p.m. ET, we’ve got one more favorite RPattz moment to present — our favorite one of all. Previously, we’ve celebrated our first interview with him and Kristen Stewart , the duo’s onstage smooch at the MTV Movie Awards , Rob’s first appearance at the Oscars and his love for “Twilight”-branded personal lubrication . So what happened to nab our #1 favorite RPattz moment? Oh, just the time he uncorked a few filthy words during a live MTV News interview. It all went down last June at the “Eclipse” premiere during our red-carpet live stream. The crowd outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles was squealing like mad, and we wanted to know if one rumor could possibly be true: Was Pattinson really looking forward to the moment the “Twilight” franchise would be behind him? “That was such bullsh–. I am so pissed off!” he said. But Rob, man, we’re live! “Oh sh–!” he cried. That’s not making it better. Oh well, those are the perils and pleasures of reporting live. And as it turned out, after Pattinson declared that he’d been misquoted about being ready to leave “Twilight” behind, he went on to give us a very thoughtful answer about the prospect of life after the vampire franchise. “Anyone who says they’re tired of this is completely crazy. If I ever said that, someone should just remind me of what I was doing before: just sitting around doing nothing,” he said, adding, “I love doing the movies. I like all the people. I’ve had a great time on all of them. The cast is great. It’s just weird. It’s become so much a part of my life. It’s like divorcing someone. I guess I’ll see. Maybe it’ll be great. I have no idea.” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” tonight at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Robert Pattinson Marvels At ‘Twilight’ Merchandise In His #2 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson Photo: MTV News What else can we say about Robert Pattinson’s #2 MTV moment other than “glitter lube”? All week, we’ve been ticking off our favorite RPattz moments as we count down the hours until “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” a 30-minute conversation in which the 24-year-old actor will be answering your Twitter questions, goes live Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET. We’ve touched on our initial visit to talk to him on set in 2008 and his first trip to the Oscars the next year. Momentous occasions, all. And now, here we are: glitter lube. Allow us to explain: As “Twilight” shape-shifted from a wildly popular book series into a global box-office juggernaut, the franchise has branched out into all sorts of ancillary gear: clothing and jewelry lines, board games, bed sets, Halloween costumes, makeup, posters, dolls, lunch boxes and, well, the list goes on. And on. As in: Pillows? Really?! So when we caught up with Pattinson in the spring of 2010, while he was promoting “Eclipse,” we wanted to know if there was a piece of merchandise that truly perplexed and entertained him. “I like the glitter lube stuff. I thought that was really funny,” he said, laughing. “I was just like, ‘I did not sign that! Where is the paper?’ I think, yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s glitter — I think it’s lube.” Ever the goofball, Rob didn’t leave it there. “I’ve got a dispenser,” he joked. “I just have it on my hands. ‘Yeah, it’s nice to meet you!’ and it’s like, ‘Wow! It works!’ ” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. Robert Pattinson Wonders Why He’s At The Oscars In His #3 MTV Moment

RPattz will debut an exclusive ‘Water for Elephants’ clip and answer fan questions live Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson at the 2009 Academy Awards Photo: Jeff Vespa/WireImage If you ask us, Robert Pattinson officially arrived in Hollywood when “Twilight” won five Golden Popcorn statues at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards — including RPattz’s nods for Best Kiss, Best Fight and Breakthrough Male Performance. But others might argue his Tinseltown coming-out party occurred a few months earlier. In late February ’09, after a weeklong series of rumors had whipped the Twi-nation into a frenzy, Pattinson walked onto an Academy Awards red carpet for the first time. He was not there because he was nominated, but simply because the Academy could not ignore the vampire phenomenon that had ignited the box office — and too many tween hearts to count — the previous fall. It was the biggest night in Hollywood, after all, and its biggest new star just had to be there. Not that he could quite wrap his head around the idea. “It’s insane,” Pattinson exclaimed when we caught up with him on the carpet. “When they first told me about this, I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no, you’re joking’ — or ‘I’m going to have to do something really stupid like get gunged!’ ” Assuming he’d need to get doused with slime to justify an Oscars appearance, for that reason alone, this awards-season moment deserves to make our countdown of favorite Pattinson moments before the debut of “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” at 8:56 p.m. ET on Friday. But RPattz’s self-deprecating humor aside, it was at the Oscars that his status as the rising young actor in town was solidified. During the ceremony, he took the stage alongside Amanda Seyfried to present a montage of the year’s romantic films, everything from “Mamma Mia!” to “Revolutionary Road” to, yes, “Twilight.” Yet even though footage from the film that made him a star played at the Oscars, he couldn’t quite believe the situation. “I’m so surprised that it worked out the way it did,” he told us of becoming a crush-worthy Hollywood presence. “I was thinking the whole time, ‘I don’t really have the personality to fit into that.’ I’m not really afraid of it. I don’t even know how to play up that. I don’t know if I could ever be cast in a heartthrob role, apart from ‘Twilight,’ which I didn’t know was a heartthrob role.” Don’t miss “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” this Friday at 8:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. By Eric Ditzian Robert Pattinson Photo: Jun Sato/ WireImage Anything could happen during “MTV First: Robert Pattinson,” our live chat with the “Twilight” star on Friday. He did, after all, once drop two curses in less than two seconds during a live interview with us on the “Eclipse” red carpet . There’s no telling what might pop out of RPattz’s mouth during the live, 30-minute interview. Whatever does happen, though, you can count on it being entertaining. As we count down the days until “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” at 8:56 p.m. ET on Friday, we plucked out our 10 favorite quotes of his, ranging from those strange days when RPattz wasn’t yet a household name to recent comments about a “Breaking Dawn” photo of him in bed with Kristen Stewart. 10. “This is the first time, really, that I’ll be confronted with a bunch of Twilighters. Shiloh Fernandez Talks Red Riding Hood, Skateland and Dissing Kristen Stewart

The most striking observation made during a recent chat with Shiloh Fernandez is that the 26-year-old is a gentle and thoughtful soul in person — sincere, open, and regretful of comments he made recently about his run-in with Kristen Stewart years ago when reading for the role of Edward Cullen in Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight . Fernandez may not have been meant to play the famous sparkling vampire, but he got another shot at working with Hardwicke when she cast him as the village bad boy in Red Riding Hood , the first romantic lead role in his young career to date. (Plus, he’s an avid Movieline reader. So, you know — bonus points!)
