So the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was last night, and my new favorite young hottie, Victoria Justice , was in attendance. I’m not sure when exactly lighting up a tree became a star-studded event, but if it’ll get Victoria to show up, I’m putting a Christmas tree in my bedroom this year. The October issue of Vanity Fair magazine has a Scientology-related cover story about Tom Cruise that makes Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master look like light comedy. In a feature titled, ” What Katie Didn’t Know: Marriage, Scientology-Style,” special correspondent Maureen Orth reveals the details of a top-secret 2004 mission that Shelly Miscavige, the wife of Scientology head David Miscavige, undertook to find a girlfriend for Tom Cruise. The magazine reports that, according to several sources, the organization devised “an elaborate auditioning process in which actresses who were already Scientology members were called in, told they were auditioning for a new training film, and then asked a series of curious questions including: ‘What do you think of Tom Cruise?'” The sweepstakes winner was Iranian-born, London-raised actress Nazanin Boniadi, who had a recurring role in General Hospital and How I Met Your Mother . Boniadi dated Cruise from November 2004 until January 2005, after Orth reports, a month-long preparation in which she was “audited” every day — a Scientology-based process in which she revealed “her innermost secrets and every detail of her sex life.” Boniadi also underwent a physical transformation that allegedly included losing her braces, the red highlights in her hair and her boyfriend. (Orth cites a “knowledgeable source” who says that the actress was shown “confidential auditing files of her boyfriend to expedite the breakup,” although the church denied any “misuse” of confidential information.) According to Vanity Fair , Boniadi was flown to New York in November to meet Cruise. After dinner at Nobu and ice-skating at the Rockefeller Center rink there, which had been closed to the public but not “an entourage of Scientology aides,”, the actress spent the night with Cruise. Orth cites several sources who say the two did not have sex, but that Cruise told Boniadi, “I’ve never felt this way before.” Approximately one month and at least two confidentiality agreements later, the magazine reports, Boniadi was kicked to the curb. Orth writes that anything the actress said or did that met with Cruise’s disapproval was relayed to a member of the Scientology staff. Boniadi, also reportedly offended fast-talking Scientology top gun David Miscavige by repeatedly telling him “Excuse me?” while she was entertaining him in Telluride. (A representative for Miscavige told Vanity Fair , “Mr. Miscavige doesn’t remember any girlfriend of anyone, in his entire life, insulting him.”) Despite these reportedly stressful conditions, Boniadi “was in love with Cruise,” Orth writes. That said, she was “overwhelmed” by “the intensity of his affection, especially his predilection for public displays” — a detail that should not come as a surprise to those who remember Cruise expressing his newfound love for Katie Holmes on national TV by jumping on a couch on Oprah Winfrey’s show in 2005, Cruise, on the other hand, told Boniadi “I get more love from an extra than I get from you.” By the third week in January 2005, Boniadi was asked to move out of Cruise’s house and into Scientology’s Celebrity Centre. She was told that the Mission Impossible actor “wants someone with her own power — like Nicole,” as in Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Cruise would meet Homes later that year and announce his engagement to the Dawson’s Creek actress that June. Boniadi would not fare nearly as well. The magazine reports that when the actress ran into a friend at a Scientology Center in Florida, Boniadi spilled the beans on her relationship with Cruise, only to have the friend report her. As punishment for her indiscretion, a “knowledgeable source” told Orth that Boniadi’s punishment was “to scrub toilets with a toothbrush, clean bathroom tiles with acid and dig ditches in the middle of the night.” She was also tasked with selling copies of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s book, Dianetics on street corners. (A Scientology spokesperson told the magazine, “The Church does not punish people, especially in [that’ manner.”) A spokeswoman for Cruise called the Vanity Fair story, which includes a number of other revelations about Scientology and Cruise, “false.” [ Vanity Fair ] Follow Frank DiGiacomo on Twitter. Our names are Elana and Billie. June 15, 2012 was single handedly the best day of our whole entire lives. Justin Bieber had been scheduled to be at the Today Show , so we went to the city on June 14th, hoping that we might see him at his hotel or around town. We also stopped by the Today Show and it was so crowded that even if we had camped out, we wouldn’t have had a good view of the stage. We went home and the next day we woke super early, took the 6:50 train, and headed to the Today Show. We were in the back of the stage but we got to watch the performance on the TVs they had set up and we had speakers next to us and he did such an AMAZING job! We left the concert a little early to go to the hotel we heard he was staying at. When we were at the hotel, the security guards swore to us that he wasn’t staying there. We were so upset, we left the hotel and we were gonna leave the city. We walked to the Rockefeller Plaza with little hope that we could still meet him. Luckily we saw like 10 people in Justin Bieber shirts standing outside the parking lot at the plaza, so we went over to them and asked them what they were waiting for. They said that they didn’t think Justin left the plaza yet, so we stayed outside with them for around two hours. After two hours the police were all saying that he’s coming out in five minutes. WE WERE FREAKING OUT!!! All of a sudden a black car came out of the parking lot driving like 90mph. He waved to us but then quickly kept driving. Without even realizing what was going on, we sprinted down the street. The police officers had to stop traffic since we were gonna get hit by cars and lucky for us, his car got stopped at a red light. We ran to the car and started banging on the window. He rolled down the window, grinned at us and said hi. We told him how amazing he did at the Today Show and he said thank you. We got pictures with him and we were the only people to get pictures. When the light switched to green, he rolled the window back up and drove away. We literally sprinted to the sidewalk and broke down in tears. We were screaming and crying. So many people came up to us and asked us to see pictures. An interviewer came up to us and interviewed us for the NBC documentary that’s going to be on TV Wednesday and Thursday. It was actually the best day of our lives. Never say never, one day you will meet Justin, I promise. My name is Taylor and my Bieber experience happened on November 23rd, 2011 at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York. My best friend Kathryn (the blonde) and I (brunette) came all the way from California to meet Justin and it was so worth it! Her family brought us down. We were lucky enough to get to meet him before he performed. We got there an hour early and we ended up being the first in line. While we were waiting, we saw Kenny, Scooter, Alfredo, Scrappy, and Dan. I was so pumped; I was texting my mom everything I saw. Scooter walked by us so I did a little wave and said, “Hi Scooter!” He responded with “Hey guys.” He was busy. While I was looking around (I was zoned out), Kathryn’s mom said, “TAYLOR! GET IN THE SHOT!!” I looked over and Kathryn and her little sisters were huddled around Kenny for a picture. I was like, “WOAH OK!” and I scurried to get in the picture. We were starting to calm down when Fredo came down the stairs. I pointed him out, and Kathryn’s mom asked politely for a picture with him. He accepted, and we took a picture. He was such a sweetheart. A few minutes later, Dan Kanter came around the corner. I freaked out and quietly yelled, “Oooh my gosh it’s DAN KANTERRR!” and he replied with, “Hey!! Whats up?!” and he put up his hand for a high five. I was panicking so I quickly put up my hand hoping that that was the right thing to do. This was when everyone else started to flood into the room. The line was re-positioned numerous times, so much that I gave up on wondering where Justin was gonna enter. He was an hour and a half late. Finally, Kathryn said that she thought she spotted him on the upper floor. She was right. He came down the stairs and the reaction from the entire room was, “…..GASP…….AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” I kept my cool surprisingly well; I didn’t burst into tears!! The moment I saw him, my body froze. I was completely numb that whole night. He got all the way down the dramatic flight of stairs, and he was doing a cute little dance. A guard looked at us and gestured toward Justin and we power-walked over to him. We tried telling him what we’d been practicing all afternoon, but he interrupted with “No!! Picture! Picture!” [By the way, he had about 15 minutes to take pictures with around 90 people.] We took the picture and I had to walk across him to leave, so I attempted to hug him, which was a fail, so I walked away with a somewhat distressed face. According to Kathryn’s mom, Justin reached over as far as he could and grabbed my arm. I turned around because I was hoping for more, not because I felt him grab my arm (remember, my body was numb. I was in total shock). I looked at my arm which was held by Mr. Justin Bieber, and then I looked up at him. He looked at me with the cutest smile, he waved at me, then he winked at me . I was overpowered with shyness at that moment, so I quickly turned around to tell Kathryn. Now for the awkward part. Everyone was told to go UP the escalator, but WE weren’t supposed to. I didn’t get that memo. We were halfway up when Kathryn’s mom told us to come down. We were so starstruck that we didn’t hear her the first time. We came back to earth, and so we rushed DOWN the UP escalator. Right in front of Justin. We RAN for the stage (where we were supposed to go in the first place), and we were pushed right into front row. The performance was absolutely incredible. Finally able to move on after the sentencing of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s family members took in the performances last night on Fox’s The X Factor . The seven contestants paid tribute to MJ Wednesday. With renditions that ranged from stripped down ( Drew Ryniewicz ) to completely unique improvisations ( Astro ), did the aspiring singers impress Michael’s progeny? Michael Jackson’s kids watch the X Factor action … and look mostly happy . Treated as both props but also royalty, Paris Jackson, Prince Michael Jackson I and II and their grandmother / guardian Katherine Jackson had front row seats. So who was Paris’ favorite of all the singers channeling MJ? “Honestly,” she Tweeted, “They were all really talented! Good answer. Who do you think was the best/worst?
Let’s face it: this is Justin Bieber’s world. We merely live in it. The superstar has been everywhere this holiday season, and not solely because some moron named Mariah Yeater sued him for paternity of her son. Bieber has released a Christmas CD and has spent weeks promoting it via talk shows, live performances and official video releases. The latest example of the latter? This duet with Mariah Carey . So it’s only appropriate that Bieber – along with friends Usher and Busta Rhymes – was featured on last night’s tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
