Happen: Today it’s The Vega Brothers , the long-rumored Quentin Tarantino prequel explaining just how Vic (Michael Madsen) and Vincent (John Travolta) developed into the hardened sibling criminals we know and love from Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction , Considering the respective 18- and 16-year-gaps between those films and today, however, a new approach is required. Two short films are making the rounds today, including Carl Erik Rinsch’s The Gift , a Phillips-sponsored clip that has apparently sparked a huge Hollywood bidding war , and Pixels , which probably hasn’t set the major studios aflame but is still delightful. We’ve enclosed both shorts and now we put it to you, the Movieline reader. Which would you rather see a feature film adaptation of: a charming, 8-bit invasion story with imagination and a sense of humor, or a megabudget short film about sexy Svedka robots and obtuse Macguffins, directed by Ridley Scott’s son-in-law? Michael Scott would be proud of Dalton Duncan. A photo of a detention notice issued to the latter, a middle school student, has been making the rounds online, and let’s just say the kid knows The Office quotes . According to the report, a student made the (innocent) comment “you need to push it in further.” The offender’s reply: “That’s what she said!” Bam! Never gets old! Well played, Dalton. Well. Played. Sure, it’s rude, but you have to credit the kid’s sense of humor. All we have to say to the reader that emailed us this story: Thanks for putting it in our box! Someone? Anyone?
