When the trailer for The Adventures of Tintin was released online last month, it was met with some push-back from Steven Spielberg fans because of its Zemeckis-y tumble into the uncanny valley. Good thing, then, that Spielberg has another December release lined up to please his many devotees: the motion capture-free War Horse . The first trailer for the World War I drama about a boy (Jeremy Irvine) and his horse has arrived online, and you might want to bring a tissue to watch it ahead.

Bad Movies We Love: Punchline

Before you watch Tom Hanks cling to Julia Roberts and a deplorable moped in Larry Crowne this weekend, please take a moment to remember when he clung to Sally Field and a mic stand in the 1988 riot of confusion called Punchline . It’s about standup comedy. Which is funny! When it is funny. And Punchline ? Is not that word, which is repeated repeatedly in Punchline . That’s what qualifies it as a lovably bad movie, not to mention the most appropriately titled one of all time. Because it is not funny. But it is a joke. And I doubt you’ve heard this one before.

Tom Hanks Attached to Cloud Atlas Adaptation

Tom Hanks will star in Cloud Atlas , an upcoming Focus Features adaptation of David Mitchell’s 2004 book about six interconnected stories with settings ranging from the 19th century South Pacific to the post-apocalyptic future. Matrix directors Andy and Lana Wachowski and Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer will helm and co-write the movie. Honestly, Hanx; another post-apocalyptic movie? Punchline was quite enough.
