Family Guy actress Andrea Fay Friedman talks about Sarah Palin, Down syndrome, and how Sarah treats Trig.

This brave young woman has suffered attack and abuse from the supporters of Sarah Palin simply for refusing to allow herself to be defined by her condition and for finding a humorous way to connect with the Family Guy audience. Just look at how some Palin supporters express their anger at this actress: Sorry but your a rotten lil bitch…i could care less you have down syndrome you know exactly what your doing. you ARE making fun of ppl with down syndrome to get your 15 minutes of fame…your disgusting! She doesn’t even realize she’s being used. This is appalling and Insider should be ashamed of participating in it. trig??? you talk about trig…………if you are saying don’t use him then stop using the fact you have downs syndrome in order to make money………there’s no difference Her remarks about Sarah Palin’s sense of humor and how she treats Trig are dead on. The reason the Palin-bots are so upset is because they realize that people are far more likely to take the side of this brave woman than the perpetual victim who they worship. Apparently Sarah’s thin skin is contagious. By the way if you did not see what Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane had to say about this controversy on Real Time last night you should do yourself a favor and click here . It was awesome!

You just have to take a moment to read this Phil Perrier piece on Palin from the Huffington Post. This is laugh out loud funny!

And lets face it, Sarah Palin is a gossip columnist’s dream. At first blush she came across as a Christian “family values” no-nonsense conservative. Then, the press started poking around and found delightful amounts of nonsense in Sarah’s closets. What ensued was the veritable Jerry Springer episode that is the Palin family; Bristol, the 17 year old pregnant daughter, Levi, the dimwitted yet hunky father of the Love Spawn, Trig, the baby with Down’s Syndrome, and Sarah’s husband, a man who has displayed less personality than a bowl of moose stew. And it got better, Levi posed for Playgirl magazine, his mom got arrested for selling prescription meds, while Sarah and Bristol and Levi tossed verbal grenades through the press at every turn. Forget running for president, this smells like a damn compelling reality show on Bravo! The Kardashians look like Ozzie and Harriet compared to the Palins. It’s perfect, a horribly dysfunctional, morally bankrupt, greedy, fame-obsessed, Christian conservative family, with guns! Sign me up! (You can read the rest of this wonderful post by clicking the title at the top of the page.) The only problem with Sarah Palin’s reality show is that it is happening in MY reality. Here is perhaps my favorite line from the post. This woman has a persecution complex you could drive a truck through. Amen to that, Mr. Perrier, Amen to that!

Embedding is disabled so to see the video you need to click here . It is striking how much this young woman has accomplished in her life with the support of her loving parents and the help from professionals who helped her to not be identified simply by her limitations but to push those limits until she could achieve as much as possible. Already the Palin-bots have started to suggest that Andrea does not have the mental capacity to compose this e-mail. i don’t think this 40 year old down’s syndrome woman wrote this or formulated these political opinions. my guess is that she is being used a political pawn, to accuse governor palin of using her infant son as a political pawn. What has been “set straight”? So you thought the line was funny. Millions didn’t. Get over it. You still get paid. The only thing this “sets straigh” is that Andrea doesn’t mind being exploited by script writers, and her own family, for their political biases. Read the last sentence again. As they say, “you are what you hate”… Unfortunately Andrea may mind if she understood the complicated political arena she has been pushed into by her dad who set up this gig for her.We need to protect out special needs community not use them as pawns… and no, Sarah carrying her infant son in public or private does not make him a pawn. in any event what does the friedman letter prove no matter who wrote it. only one family was being made fun of in the cartoon and that was the palin family. now if the friedman family was made fun of in the same way then i would care what they thought but until then i would rather hear from bristol and what she thought. Perhaps the person who composed the above e-mail was not aware of Andrea’s educational background: EDUCATION Pre-School: Santa Monica Presbyterian Nursery School, Santa Monica Elementary: Seeds University Elementary School at UCLA, Los Angeles Junior High: Fernald School at UCLA ERAS School, Los Angeles High School: West Los Angeles Baptist High School, Los Angeles College: Santa Monica College, Santa Monica (You can read more about Andrea’s accomplishments here .) The real lesson to learn here (and I certainly hope that somebody will bring it to Sarah Palin’s attention) is that children who are born with certain challenges should not be defined by them. They can achieve amazing things and live a satisfying life filled with wonderful experiences and as much normalcy as any other person on this planet. Sarah Palin DOES drag Trig around as a prop. There are literally dozens of photos of him without his much needed glasses and hearing aids, not to mention his damn socks! These are the years when he is gathering data, and making sense of the world around him. That ability is diminished badly if he cannot see or hear appropriately. Does anybody think that Andrea could have achieved ALL that she has if her parents did not give her the loving care and tools she needed to see and hear the world around her? The obvious answer is no. So who better to speak up for Trig Palin than this woman who shares his diagnosis, yet is living proof of how full his life can be with the proper support and educational opportunities?

The Palins Want Some of Levi Johnston’s Dirty, Dirty Playgirl Money

Remember when Sarah Palin went on Oprah and scoffed at Levi Johnston for getting paid for “pornography?” Well now she wants a piece of the action. The Palins have subpoenaed Playgirl for Levi’s check stub. The Levi Johnston/ Bristol Palin custody battle is getting ugly. The Palins are trying to get as much cash out of Levi as they can, which means discovering just how much money he made last year. In their quest to uncover the total salary from his media appearances and disappointing “naked” photoshoot, Bristol has subpoenaed the magazine to find out what they paid him in the deal. We’ve been running under the assumption it’s around $25,000 and some revenue sharing, so based on how much the photos made, Levi might have scooped up even more (hence the subpoena). However, Playgirl also heard from Levi’s enabler/exploiter/lawyer Rex Butler telling them to keep mum about the sum. Bristol is seeking $1750 a month in child support, but Levi is trying to pay less because his income is “erratic.” Considering his income is built upon exploiting his Sarah Palin connections, which have been severed, no wonder it’s erratic. And this public shaming is just the Palin’s latest attack to disgrace Levi, America’s stupid high school boyfriend, in the press and make themselves look better. If, by doing so, they have to rub elbows (and other parts) with the filthy vermin they turn their noses up at, then so be it. Isn’t it great to have principles?

Bristol Palin to Levi Johnston: Cough it Up, Liar!

Levi Johnston recently offered a classic defense of his deadbeat dad status, essentially claiming he is a mere deadbeat – he’s got no cash to pay child support. You need to have money and be withholding it to be a deadbeat dad, after all, and he says that’s not so. Baby mama Bristol Palin, however, is not buying it. Taking time away from calling out Family Guy on Facebook, Bristol has subpoenaed CNN and Playgirl to prove Levi is a big fat liar earning more than he says. A lawyer for Sarah Palin’s daughter is scoffing at legal documents filed by Team Levi, which claim the teen he earned a mere pittance over the last few years. Thus, he cannot pay the $1,688.42 a month in child support Bristol Palin seeks. We doubt that, and so does Bristol, who’s calling his bluff in a court of law. The gloves are coming off in this hilarious family feud . Palin’s lawyer issued subpoenas today to CNN, Playgirl, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, Star Magazine , and The National Enquirer to discern how much they paid Levi. What Team Bristol believes is a smoking gun is Johnston’s dubious claim in a court declaration that he made no more than $10,000 a year prior to last year, 2009. But in the new docs, Palin’s lawyer attached Levi’s pay stub from 2008, showing that he raked in $18,594.50 from one employer – a construction company in Alaska. If he lied about that, imagine what he’s lying about regarding the half-dozen celebrity gossip programs and publications listed above. Clearly they paid him a little. Also, come on. Playgirl is no Playboy , but those Levi Johnston nude photo spreads were big sellers! Surely he got a big ass advance or some royalties, right?

Lost Episode Review: Answers and Revelations Galore!

This is a reaction typically reserved for Megan Fox pictures , but: OMFG! Last night’s episode of Lost (titled “The Substitute” and reviewed in depth here ) shed light on a number of topics that have plagued the minds of long-time fans since season one. What are the numbers? Why were the castaways brought to the island? How impressive is Sawyer’s tolerance? Discover the answers to these questions, and talk about them with fellow fans, below. THE NUMBERS correlate to various characters. As the Man in Black (under the guise of John Locke) told Sawyer: “Jacob had a thing for numbers.” He assigned one to each individual he brought to the island, handing out the digits with which we’re most familiar to those alive in 2007… with the exception of Kate. THEY WERE BROUGHT TO THE ISLAND as “candidates” to take over for Jacob, Fake Locke said. The late (great?) deity was looking for someone to take over his job as protector of the island. From what? Nothing, Fake Locke claimed. DID WE SEE JACOB AS A CHILD? At one point, Fake Locke went chasing after a boy that randomly appeared in the jungle and told this seemingly evil entity: You can’t kill him. Our best theory: this was a younger version of Jacob. ARE HAPPY ENDINGS AHEAD? In the sideways, 2004 universe, we saw a version of Locke that eventually came to grips with his wheelchair-bound status. He was also engaged to Helen and on good terms with his father. He learned lessons that the island castaway in 2007 struggled with for years. In some way, these timelines are connected and characters will get a second chance at happiness/redemption in their rebooted 2004 lives. Pressing questions from the episode include: Can we trust Fake Locke? Where is his “home?” How does the issue of free will play into everything? What is Ilana up to? What does she know? What’s her plan? Can we hand Terry O’Quinn his Emmy Award now? We could go on for days, but let’s turn it over to readers: What was your reaction to this episode? Were you satisfied with the answers provided? What else are you dying to learn?

Sarah Palin on The O’Reilly Factor: Still Bashing Family Guy, Plugging Facebook Plage

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is steamed, and rightfully so, over the blatantly tasteless Down Syndrome mockery on last weekend’s episode of Family Guy – a low blow clearly inspired by her own special needs child. But man, does she love any excuse to run her mouth. On The O’Reilly Factor , Palin reiterated how offended she is at the Family Guy quotes that ridiculed her family (as they do everyone and everything else). In between about 37 plugs for daughter Bristol ‘s Facebook page, Sarah righteously saddled up on her high horse to promote Sarah Palin defend son Trig. She also demanded that White House Chief of Staff Rham Emanuel resign for using the term “retard” but defended Rush Limbaugh for the same thing. Her defense of Rush is perhaps the most puzzling. Why not say he was wrong to use it too? Is this woman for real?! Check out her interview below: Sarah Palin on the O’Reilly Factor Whose side are you on?

Sarah and Bristol Palin to Family Guy: You Suck!

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane now has something in common with Levi Johnston: both have been bitch slapped by the Palins. On Sunday night, Fox aired an episode of this popular sitcom that featured a girl with Down Syndrome, who said at one point: “My mom’s the former governor of Alaska.” For a series known for crude and offensive humor, not much was actually made about the girl’s state. Stewie uttered the occasional rude line, but Stewie always utters the occasional rude line. It almost seemed as though MacFarlane inserted the Palin reference in there just to court controversy – and, of course, the self-absorbed “politician” snatched the bait. Palin took to Facebook and said the joke was a “kick in the gut” because she it “mocked” her son, Trig, who has Down Syndrome. She then turned it over to her daughter because it’s always healthy for an 18-year old to be in the center of a scandal. Choose a side in this feud? Bristol wrote: When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks. THG’s reaction to this mess: There’s absolutely no way Bristol Palin wrote that; It’s wrong to make fun of someone with Down Syndrome; Family Guy is an equal opportunity offender. It takes swipes at every race, religion and disability. Does it sometimes cross the line? Yes. We were appalled that it made multiples jokes about rape two weeks ago. But it’s been on the air for eight seasons and there’s clearly a market for its niche. If Palin were truly interested in anything but getting her name in the newspaper, she’d ignore this type of baiting. Her desperate need for PR is the only reason Levi Johnston is still around. If she’d ignored his taunts months ago, the world would have forgotten about him by now. No respectable political figure issues statements from her Facebook account. Palin is closer to Tila Tequila than Hilary Clinton.

No More Surveys About Sarah Palin Please

A survey has revealed that the majority of Americans think Sarah Palin is unqualified to be president . This survey wildly misses the point of Sarah Palin, and the tea party movement she inspires – both are ideological, not political. You may have noticed that Palin can do whatever she likes. She can evade taxes, lie outright, stand next to animals being slaughtered, display stupendous ignorance and inexperience, and still her followers bay for her. This mystifies journalists and pundits, so they commission surveys about it. The mistake they (we) make is to try and apply normal standards of debate to the far right-wing. The movement they most resemble is not the Boston Tea Party, which had a clear political and economic agenda. It is the extreme ideological groups they profess to dislike the most — Islamic extremists and the far left. It may seem like an overblown comparison. After all the Taliban oppressed, tortured and killed millions in a war-torn nation. And Palin is, for all of the vitriol she generates, no Stalin. But here are the similarities: They all arise in times of trouble: economic and social turmoil is, almost by definition, confusing and difficult. People seek clarity. Extremism is a form of clarity. They all value ideological purity over intellect or skill: Mullah Omar, the one-eyed leader of the Taliban when they came to power in the 1990s, had never left Afghanistan and had read almost nothing but the Koran. No one cared. He rode to power on a wave of national discontent that sought single-mindedness after years of confusion. They all share a feeling of oppression: Palin used the word revolution when addressing the tea party conference in Nashville — there is the sense that tea-partyers and Palinites feel they are rising up against a government that doesn’t know, or care, what they think. Communism spread, in similar but far more extreme circumstances, on the back of the Russian revolution. In Afghanistan, in the 1990s, very legitimate and thoughtful governments – like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and, to an extent, the US — began to back the Taliban for reasons of personal expediency. America in 2010 is a moderate and sophisticated democracy, far removed from that war-torn nation, or from post-revolution Russia. But, on a much smaller scale, the Republican party has made a similar deal with the devil. It’s time we admitted that and stopped wasting the time of pollsters and analysts.
