Jennifer Garner turns 40 years old today and we encourage all readers to send in their birthday wishes to the beauty. But, let’s face it, she received her gift about six weeks early this year when the actress gave birth to her third child in late February. Married to Ben Affleck and also the mother to daughters Violet and Seraphina, 6 and 3, respectively, Garner rose to fame on Alias , earning a Golden Globe for the role of Sydney Bristow. But she has mostly given up acting over the last few years, focusing instead on a far more important job: mother. We wish her and her adorable children all the best. Other stars celebrating birthdays today include: Victoria Beckham (38), Liz Phair (45) and Boomer Esiason (51).
Christina Aguilera had to make an instant elimination on The Voice Monday, but not before performing her hit “Fighter” with her remaining team members. The 31-year-old, decked out in a revealing outfit, was joined by her singing proteges Chris Mann, Ashley De La Rosa, Jesse Campbell, and Lindsey Pavao. And that’s not all. Los Angeles’ famed Crenshaw High School choir also joined Christina and her team on stage for the performance. Take a look below! Christina Aguilera – Fighter (Live on The Voice) In a surprise move, Aguilera opted to let Jesse Campbell go last night, even after a stirring performance of Beyonce’s “Halo” that brought the house down earlier. Not only did many feel he should have survived last night, but Adam Levine even told him he was a “huge, huge favorite” to win the entire competition. Guess he didn’t impress the one person who mattered. Chris, Ashley and Lindsey learn their fate tonight as America’s votes decide who continues on.
Her Barbz sure hope so, but Nicki bid them ‘good f—ing bye’ on Sunday. By Kara Klenk Nicki Minaj Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage On Sunday, more than 11 million Barbz had their lifeline to Nicki Minaj abruptly severed when the femcee shut down her Twitter account . Tensions initially escalated over Minaj’s accusation that a fan site had leaked some of her tracks and culminated in the rapper’s deactivation of her account. This move came as a shock to many of her fans, as Minaj was one of the most followed Twitter users in the world (she had more followers than Oprah!) and constantly filled her timeline with personalized responses to individual fans. It seems that maintaining such an open dialogue with her fans may have backfired as she formulated her last frustrated tweets including, “Like seriously, its but so much a person can take. Good f—ing bye.” While having a Twitter following in the millions certainly comes with perks, the negative comments undoubtedly wear on stars. Chris Brown has deleted his account and his tweets on more than one occasion, after getting fed up with comments from other users about his personal life. Brown and Minaj aren’t alone: John Mayer , Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have all been Twitter quitters at one point too. Celebs ditch Twitter for a variety of reasons — after a scandal, over backlash from ill-thought-out comments, or sometimes just to focus on their career and not get caught up in the constant flow of communication the social-networking site thrives on. But it seems just as difficult to stay away. Brown, Lovato and Cyrus have all since returned to the site, while Mayer currently has a working account with zero tweets logged. But how long does Minaj have to decide about coming back to her millions of Barbz? According to a source at Twitter, after a period of inactivity (several months of not logging in), a deactivated handle can be reassigned to another user. However, before anyone thinks they can snap up the @nickiminaj handle in a few months, with a verified celebrity account, Twitter works with the user before any action is taken. So whether Minaj ever returns, no one should count on grabbing that user name anytime soon. Plus, if she does have a change of heart, her following will remain intact, so the Barbz would be the first to know about a comeback. Are you hoping Nicki comes back to Twitter? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos The Evolution Of Nicki Minaj Related Artists Nicki Minaj
Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton hit the stage with their teams, while Maroon 5 premiered ‘Payfone’ with Wiz Khalifa. By John Mitchell Jesse Campbell on “The Voice” Photo: NBC Things were shaken up Monday night (April 16) on “The Voice” with the surprise introduction of “instant eliminations,” a new rule forcing each judge to send one of their team members home at the end of the episode. The first judges forced to send one of their own packing were Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton , whose teams took the stage Monday. An additional member of each team will be voted off by the public on Tuesday. Each of the superstar judges — with the notable exception of Cee Lo Green — also hit the stage to perform, with Levine’s band Maroon 5 even debuting a new song with Wiz Khalifa . First to hit the stage was teenage country girl RaeLynn. Before performing, she and her coach Blake bonded over being “real country.” I’m a real country artist,” RaeLynn boasted, and Blake suited her up with the perfect song, hitmaker Jason Aldean’s “She’s Country.” RaeLynn’s performance of the song won over all the judges. “Man, I’m gonna say, you make me want to sing country,” Christina championed. But Blake had the biggest words of praise. “This is the most proud moment I’ve had of any person on my team,” Blake said of RaeLynn’s performance. Next up was fan and judge favorite Jesse Campbell, who delivered an expectedly excellent rendition of Beyonc
Remake of 2008 French film finds Cyrus seeking revenge on a cheating ex-boyfriend. By Fallon Prinzivalli Miley Cyrus in “LOL” Photo: Lionsgate It’s been a long time coming for Miley Cyrus’ remake of the 2008 French film “LOL.” Since the announcement back in 2010 that the film is being distributed by Lionsgate , news on the movie has been lacking. Well, not anymore, Cyrus fans. On Tuesday, the official trailer for the film dropped, which gives fans a preview of what the movie has in store. In a generation that spends more time updating the world about their problems than their families, 17-year-old Lola’s (Cyrus) status is constantly changing. As an attempt to get back at her — now ex — boyfriend Chad for cheating on her with Ashley ( Ashley Greene ), Lola starts seeing his best friend, Kyle ( Douglas Booth ). Her life begins to spiral downward as her grades drop while she experiments with drugs and sex, and a divorce has her mom completely oblivious to it all. Soon she starts to fall for Kyle and things get even more complicated. The trailer is a great peek at the teen drama, and we have the five key scenes from it. EX -Boyfriend The trailer begins with Lola’s voice over: “Every year it’s weird going back to school, but here we are just going with the flow, trying to love and laugh out loud.” She abruptly stops laughing when she calls out Chad on not texting her throughout the summer and he admits he hooked up with Lola’s rival Ashley. She acts like she doesn’t care, but as soon as she enters her room she begins crying on her bed. This emotional scene that sets up the rest of the trailer. A New Beginning Lola quickly gets over her failed romance as she begins hanging out with Chad’s best friend Kyle. A montage begins of their new friendship as they share a lollipop, rock out on an air guitar and come this close to kissing by his car. Everything is even more wonderful when he tells her, “You’re amazing.” We imagine audiences will quickly become fans of Booth. “I can’t believe I ever dated you!” But the puppy love comes to a halt when Lola begins her sexual awakening. It seems rumors begin circulating when Chad says to Lola in the school courtyard, “Now that you’re giving it up I figured maybe I could get some.” The next scene shows Lola lashing out and pushing him into a gate screaming, “I can’t believe I ever dated you!” The trailer isn’t clear on what exactly causes the outburst, but we’re betting it’s pretty bad judging by Lola’s reaction. Trouble In Paradise? As it turns out, Chad’s comment is just the beginning of situations that spiral out of Lola’s control. The next few scenes show a fight with her mom about her grades dropping and a drunken make-out session with Kyle. Her life gets even worse as she witnesses Kyle walking with his arm around Ashley. When she confronts him about it, he denies it and she spits out, “You’re disgusting.” But we already knew Greene’s character would cause a stir when Demi Moore told MTV News “she’s really saucy.” “Status can change, but true love remains the same.” Throughout the next montage of scenes, we see “status can change, but true love remains the same” typed out across the screen as Kyle dedicates a song to Lola and she makes up with her mom. Finally, as a smiling Kyle rests his head on an equally happy Lola, the trailer leaves us with the feeling that despite the craziness of high school, everything will work out for Lola in the end. After all, she did say she just goes with the flow and high school is only the beginning. Are you planning on seeing “LOL” in theaters? Leave your comment below! You know you are already wondering if the police were called, since they look all white: In the wake of this week’s junior varsity tournament baseball game that ended in a brawl, parents said eight JV players have been suspended and kicked off the Yuba City High School team. Officials at Yuba City Unified School District would not confirm the punishment meted out so far, but parents said they’ve spoken among themselves and many think the punishment was too extreme. “Was our pitcher wrong? Absolutely. Nobody is denying that. However, are our boys supposed to sit back while their whole dugout comes and tackles our pitcher?,” asked parent Stacy Todd, referring to the moment in the game when the pitcher for the Yuba City team threw a baseball at the first base coach after he’d allegedly called the pitcher’s mother an insulting name. Todd’s son Camryn was suspended for five days for admitting he’d thrown a punch during the fracas. She said her son did not expect to be banned from baseball for the season. “He’s devastated. He had no idea he would be kicked off the team,” Todd said. Several students at Yuba City High School said they had mixed feelings about the punishment. “I think he was just defending his mom, but I don’t think he needed to go that far as to throw the ball and rush on the coach,” Yuba City High freshman Lissette Luney said. Meanwhile, veteran umpire Sarjeet Singh said officials have to keep control of a game. “Basically, you have to see those things coming,” Singh said. “Sometimes you don’t, you don’t. But, I feel at the high school level you can see it coming.” RELATED STORY: Districts investigate brawl at youth baseball game Monday’s game at Granite Bay between Del Campo and Yuba City ended in a fight, which for a time was posted on YouTube. In the video, it appears that members of the Yuba City team charge onto the field and fighting erupts. “The administration and adults are ultimately responsible for what occurred on the baseball field,” Singh said. “They have to assume responsibility for the situation and dish out punishment as needed.” Some parents said they believe part of the blame lies on the officiating. There was only one umpire working the game, the normal number for JV baseball. “Certainly, the more adults the better,” San Juan Unified School District spokesperson Trent Allen said. “But, you do have multiple coaches, you have the ump and you hopefully have caring parents, hopefully setting a good example for students.” Although, in the video, a person who appears to be a parent is clearly seen running onto the field. “They’re trying to help,” Singh said. “But, really they’re just fueling the fire… Between the lines, no parent belongs on a baseball diamond!” Investigations by both the Yuba City Unified School District and San Juan Unified School District are underway. If warranted, punishment could range from a single game suspension to expulsion from school. “The consequences that are at hand for this kind of thing would be suspension from school, suspension from the team, being removed from the team, being placed up for expulsion,” Yuba City Unified School District Superintendent Nancy Aaberg said. “Any of our players who came out of the dugout and threw punches would certainly face disciplinary action,” Allen said. “And then, of course, we’ll look at how our adults behaved as well.” Image And Source News10/KXTV More On Bossip! Not to say that Robert Downey, Jr. and The Hulk aren’t sex symbols. They are. “We want… education! When do we want it? Now!” About 50 students were suspended Thursday from the all-boys Frederick Douglass Academy in Detroit, Mich. for walking out of classes in protest, demanding “an education.”: Among their complaints: a lack of consistent teachers, the reassignment of the school principal, educators who abuse sick time and a shortage of textbooks. “We’ve been wronged and disrespected and lied to and cheated,” senior Tevin Hill told the Detroit Free Press. “They didn’t listen to us when we complained to the administration. They didn’t listen to the parents when they complained to the administration, so I guess this is the only way to get things solved.” One math teacher, parent Sharise Smith tells WJBK-TV, has been absent for more than 68 days. The students marched outside the school and chanted, “We want… education! When do we want it? Now!” Students and parents became increasingly alarmed when Frederick Douglass was no longer listed as an application school in the district — current students had to apply to attend. Smith told the Free Press that her son was given an A in geometry without taking a final exam. “It was by default, just for showing up. It wasn’t because he earned an A,” she said. The Frederick Douglass boys are just some of many students in a city that proved to be the worst-performing urban school area among 21 surveyed across the country. Despite its national rank, Detroit’s overall performance increased on the 2011 National Assessment of Educational Progress. The 17-year-old Hill told The Detroit News that so many teachers have been simultaneously absent from school that dozens of students had been forced to gather in the gym or other common school areas. Students also went for long periods without homework, and Hill said he struggled on a recent placement exam at Bowling Green State University, where he’s been accepted to attend next year. “I literally couldn’t answer a question on there,” Hill said. “Right now, I’m not going to be as successful as I should be because I haven’t been properly taught.” How sad! We salute these kids for standing their ground. It’s sad that children are being forced to protest just for a decent education SMH Source More On Bossip!
