Getty Images Middle School Teacher Arrested For Having Sex With Two Students A former middle school gym teacher in Georgia was arrested for the second time this year for having sex with a student. Shawnetta D. Reece was taken into custody Thursday for engaging in sexual conduct with a high school senior in 2015. The student was 18 years old at the time of the alleged relationship, while Shawnetta is 20 years older. Authorities became aware of the relationship while investigating DIFFERENT allegations that the teacher was sexually involved with a 15-year-old student two years prior. Yikes. Reece was arrested Aug. 14 for the relationship with the 15-year-old and charged with child molestation and sexual assault. She was booked again Thursday on charges of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority in the case of the 18-year old. Maybe now this woman will finally learn to stop F’in with the youngins…

This time around, it was a college campus security guard who didn’t want to face the consequences of accidentally shooting himself. After shooting himself in the shoulder on Thursday, Brent P. Ahlers’, and officer at Minnesota college, made up a story about a Black gunman in order to cover up his mistake. According to The Star Tribune , St. Paul police were immediately skeptical of Ahlers’ story that he had been shot by a black gunman in a navy blue sweatshirt with a short Afro. They did not publicly share the description of the supposed shooter. Despite their initial suspicion, the campus of St. Catherine University was still put on lockdown for hours as 55 police officers, four K-9 units and Minnesota State Patrol aircraft searched for the alleged suspect. The 25-year-old White campus cop finally came clean after police came back from their search of the alleged culprit empty-handed. On Wednesday, Ahlers told police that he made up the story because he was afraid of losing his job, where firearms are not permitted and not issued to security personnel. After being treated for a shoulder wound, the campus guard was booked into the Ramsey County jail and cited for falsely reporting a crime. He was released on his own recognizance at 4:30 a.m on Thursday. But the repercussions didn’t end there, St. Catherine University President Becky Roloff posted a statement to the school’s website Thursday evening condemning Ahler’s actions and saying that he had been fired by the university. She wrote, “Brent Ahlers was put on paid leave September 13 while the St. Paul Police conducted their investigation and the University completed a review of the facts. That status has now changed. He is no longer an employee of the University effective today, September 14. Second, I want to be clear that St. Catherine University strongly condemns racial discrimination, racial stereotyping, and racial profiling of any kind. All is well that ends well. The governor has expanded the state of emergency on majority of the state. Hurricane Irma is expected to bring wind gusts up to 60 mph, heavy rain beginning Monday morning, and power outages. Shapiro, a senior policy fellow at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, warns that the bureau’s census count “matters more than you think.” He should know. Shapiro supervised the Census Bureau in the leadup to the 2000 count. The U.S. Constitution requires a population count every 10 years. According to the bureau’s website , the federal government has conducted a decennial census in years ending in “0” since 1790. Having an accurate census also determines how the federal government distributes funding to state and local governments for a range of public services, including education, various state health care programs (including Medicaid), and housing—to name just a few. At the same time, state and local lawmakers also depend on the bureau’s data for their programs and effectiveness assessments of those programs. “Without an accurate census, many states and cities will be denied the full funding they deserve and need, and the federal government will have to fly blind for a decade across a range of important areas,” Shapiro stated. At this point in the 10-year cycle, Congress should begin seriously funding the bureau’s work. Shapiro said it’s expensive to count the nation’s more than 300 million residents accurately. That requires not just technology purchases but also includes many other needs, such as leasing local offices and training workers. The Economist reported that legislation is pending in Congress that would appropriate just $1.5 billion for 2018–about $300 million short of the bureau’s needs. It’s in such peril that the Government Accountability Office added the 2020 census to its high-risk projects, the magazine noted. In 2014, the Republican-led Congress disregarded the Obama administration’s budget requests and declared that the 2020 census “ should cost no more than the 2010 count without adjusting for inflation, or some $12.5 billion,” Shapiro wrote. The bureau has had to cut corners, by taking steps such as ending a planned Spanish-language test census and terminating tests of outreach strategies aimed at encouraging marginalized communities to fill out census forms. Since coming into office, President Trump has taken steps to hinder the bureau’s work. Shapiro said the Trump administration cut his predecessor’s 2017 budget request for the Census Bureau by 10 percent, where Trump proposes to keep it for 2018. Shapiro also pointed to a leaked early draft of an executive order circulating in the administration that would direct the bureau to inquire about citizenship status. The unprecedented directive, he said, is unlawful. Former census directors Vincent Barabba and Kenneth Prewitt urged Trump “to act quickly” in a Washington Post opinion piece. The casting process has been ongoing for months, with Common and The New Edition Story ’s breakout star Algee Smith recently signing on as well. Shadow and Act reports that Issa Rae has been cast in the drama as an activist who provides support to Stenberg’s character Starr. The synopsis of The Hate U Give reads: “The Hate U Give” tells the story of 16-year-old Starr (portrayed by Stenberg), who navigates between the poverty-stricken slum she has grown up in and the upper-crust suburban prep school she attends. Her life is up-ended when she is an eyewitness to a police officer shooting her best friend, Khalil (Smith), who turns out to have been unarmed during the confrontation – but may or may not have been a drug dealer. As Starr finds herself even more torn between the two vastly different worlds she inhabits, she also has to contend with speaking her truth and, in the process, trying to stay alive herself. The novel was written by Angel Thomas, who was a student in Belhaven University’s creative writing program at the time she came up with the idea for The Hate U Give in 2011. It was originally written as a short story for her senior-year project, but it quickly expanded into a novel-length work. The title comes from a tattoo worn by Tupac Shakur (with the acronym T.H.U.G.) Carine Roitfeld ‘s CR Fashion Book is themed 1999 for both CR Fashion Book Issue 11 and CR Fashion Book Men’s Issue 5. The magazine has cover stars Alek Wek and Cara Taylor , photographed by Mario Sorrenti ; however, the cover that will sure turn into a collector’s item is undoubtedly the Prince photo. This unreleased, never seen before photo of Prince was shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein at Prince’s Minnesota estate Paisley Park. Klein showed the image to Roitfeld in June, while she was in London at his studio. Roitfeld reveals via her Instagram, “Toward the end of the day, he took me to a corner of his studio and revealed to mea box of photographs, inside of which were beautiful, intimate, never-seen portraits of Prince–shot in daylight, in 1989, at Paisley Park, the musicians Minnesota estate. I knew in that moment I had found the cover of Issue 5.” The issue hits newsstands September 7th. Will you be buying?
