Last night’s summer season premiere of The Big C on Showtime was positively cougarriffic as Sex and the City ‘s Cynthia Nixon returned to the series with a bare-breasted bang. Cynthia bared both boobs in a sweaty scene in the sack with her mentally unstable lover. Call us crazy, but Skin Central thinks Cynthia’s looking absolutely MAM-azing for 45! In other nudes , Mary-Louise Parker did, indeed, make out with her Russian cellmate on Weeds , but the season 4 premiere of this skinful show was notable mostly for its lack of skin, with Mary-Louise exposing her bra and panties, and nothing else, as she changed into civilian clothes. Despite reports of their imminent replacement at the end of the next season’s filming, the Jersey Shore cast is not going anywhere just yet. “I think we’re irreplaceable,” Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio said Friday. At an appearance at the Palms in Vegas, he adds, “I don’t think they could replace us. They’d just be people trying to be like us, anyway.” On Friday, MTV denied the reports, with a spokesman they have “no plans to recast the show,” which recently finished filming Season 4 in Italy. “It’s more of the guys getting into the drama,” Pauly said of the gang’s adventures in the old country. “We’re used to it with the girls, but this season it’s a lot of the guys … I think it was as much drama as there was in Miami.” “Yeah, we got ourselves into some serious crap, but somehow we always end up OK. There was some serious stuff going on there.” Season 4 begins August 4. The filming of Jersey Shore Season 5 is underway in Jersey. Will there be another season beyond that? According to OK! Magazine, Maci Bookout will finally get her “happily ever after” moment when she weds her beau, Kyle King, on Teen Mom this season. Which is interesting, since we hadn’t even heard she was engaged to King, who she began dating after her split with Ryan Edwards, her son’s father. Knowing OK!, it’s probably a highly misleading cover story . There is no mention of a specific wedding or even of an engagement, just quotes like this: “Maci says that although she’s young and doesn’t know what she wants to do with the rest of her life, she knows for sure that she loves Kyle,” a friend says. “She loves being around him and he makes her very happy.” A source says Maci Bookout ’s wedding dreams are “down-to-earth and achievable,” whatever that means, and will be a simple, fun and family-oriented. With the exception of his little-seen work in I Love You Phillip Morris and a blink-and-you-missed-it appearance in the season finale of The Office , Jim Carrey has been away from the pop culture landscape for almost two years. (Three, if you don’t want to count the motion-capture spectacle that was A Christmas Carol .) That will change when Mr. Popper’s Penguins gets released in two weeks, and apparently Carrey wants to keep the likely momentum going forward by doing what movie stars do best: heading back to their past successes.

Well, wonder no more! The fourth season of the show is set to premiere Thursday, August 4, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. The crew shuffled off to Florence to visit their mother country and bring GTL and fist-pumping to the home of fashion, art and delicious food, and fans are now months away from learning just what went down when they left America. Can’t wait that long? Well, on Thursday, July 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, a one-hour special will air that gives fans an inside look at the rise of the show and its beloved cast of characters. The special will include buzzed-about moments, footage and interviews with the cast. Two days prior to the special, the “Jersey Shore Uncensored: Season Three” DVD will hit stores, on Tuesday, July 26. In addition to the season’s 13 episodes, it will also feature behind-the-scenes moments and the always-entertaining reunion special. Before they headed abroad, MTV News spoke to some of the stars, who shared their excitement for shooting the show in Italy . “I honestly can’t wait to get there and see the place,” Deena told MTV News in March. “For some reason, I really want to go on a gondola ride. Last night on American Idol, James Durbin covered Muse, conjuring up images of Adam Lambert a few seasons ago. Durbin’s song choice: “Uprising.” “I haven’t gotten to show that I can be contemporary,” he said, hoping to escape the metal/hard rock label. Suffice it to say, it worked and then some. He’s sounded better in the past. But he probably hasn’t looked better. The drums, the spinning cameras, the flashing lights and, of course, James’ natural feel for performing sent the crowd and judges into hysterics. After praising his cover of the Matthew Bellamy -led band, Steven made a crack about Durbin’s wardrobe, telling James to stay out of his closet. Lauren Alaina sometimes holds something back on stage. Not last night. It’s true that, in performing Sara Evans’ hit “Born to Fly,” she stayed close to the original version. But it’s a great country song to stick close to the original of. Will she spread her wings and truly fly to new heights this season on Idol?
