No Surprise On ‘American Idol’: Elise Testone Exits

Perpetual cellar-dweller joined in bottom three by Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. By Adam Graham Elise Testone on “American Idol” Photo: Fox Another one bit the dust, but this one wasn’t hard to see coming. After two weeks of shocking elimination episodes, “American Idol” took a break from the surprises Thursday (April 26), sending perpetual bottom-dweller Elise Testone home. Testone, the 28-year-old from Charleston, South Carolina, had faced elimination so many times that “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine joked she had a “vacation home” in the bottom three. Testone came up on the short end of the reported 58 million votes cast following Wednesday’s performance episode, where she took on Queen’s “I Want It All” and a very wordy rendition of Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold as Love.” Following the Hendrix song, Randy Jackson told her it “wasn’t the right song for this time in the competition,” and on Thursday’s show, Iovine called Testone “a great singer who makes bad choices.” He called “Bold as Love” a “double down on bad decisions.” Testone, the oldest of this season’s finalists, sang Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” during her exit. It was one of her signature songs of the season. Testone was joined in the bottom three Thursday by Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. Laine was sent back to safety immediately, leaving Testone and Cavanagh to await their fate. According to host Ryan Seacrest, the 58 million votes cast were 10 million more than the number of votes cast at this point in the season last year. Queen Extravaganza, an official Queen tribute band, opened the show with a performance of “Somebody to Love.” The episode also saw performances from season 10 “Idol” contestant Stefano Langone — who now goes simply by Stefano — who did his debut single “I’m on a Roll,” and Katy Perry, who in a taped performance did a military-themed “Part of Me.” What did you think of “Idol” on Thursday? Over the last two years, Blake Griffin has made a habit of putting opposing defenders on posters. As this season has progressed, guys have become noticeably irritated with that fact, and it’s gotten to point where they are now getting overly physical with him in order to make a.) the necessary defensive stop and/or b.) a statement. It happened again during Thursday night’s game between the Los Angeles… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Opposing Views Discovery Date : 20/04/2012 07:36 Number of articles : 2

American Idol Results: Another Surprise?

Following the most surprising American Idol vote of the season, the top seven gathered once again this week to learn which of them would be going home. After two performances from each of the contestants on Wednesday – along with a song tonight by Kris Allen and a tribute to Dick Clark – it came down to a bottom three of Hollie Cavanagh, Elise Testone and, for the first time so far, Colton Dixon. And the unlucky eliminate-ee? COLTON DIXON! “I need to apologize. I wasn’t myself last night and I get it,” Dixon said with class and grace upon hearing the news. What do you think, THGers? Did America get it right? Should Colton have been sent packing?

‘American Idol’ Fresh Out Of Saves For Colton Dixon

Seeming front-runner shockingly voted off the show, joined in the bottom three by Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh. By Adam Graham Colton Dixon on “American Idol” Photo: Fox “Bad Romance” turned out just plain bad for Colton Dixon on Thursday (April 19), as the 20-year-old Tennessean — who had never before landed in the bottom three — was voted off “American Idol.” Dixon found himself at the bottom of the 53 million votes cast following Wednesday’s performance episode . Dixon, the Mohawk-mullet-wearing emo-rocker who entered “Idol” initially only as a show of moral support for his sister, performed a goth-lite version of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” on Wednesday’s show, as well as an emo reading of Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” When given the news he had been voted off — and would indeed be going home, since the judges used their one-and-only save for the season last week to rescue Jessica Sanchez from oblivion — Dixon said sorry to his fans. “I need to apologize. I wasn’t myself last night, and I get it,” he said, turning to the judges. “I appreciate what you told me last night. I’ll take that when I’m making a record, and I’ll choose songs … ” He was cut off by Jennifer Lopez, who told him, “You’ll make many records,” and Randy Jackson, who offered, “You have a huge career ahead of you, man.” Dixon had received generally favorable remarks from the judges throughout the season but was dinged for his performances Wednesday, in particular for the Earth, Wind & Fire tune. In a video that aired Thursday (April 19) that caught him backstage, Dixon reacted to the criticism. “Ouch, that kind of stung a little bit,” he said. “But honestly, I’m not trying to sound cocky, but I don’t care.” Dixon was in the bottom three along with Hollie Cavanagh and perpetual bottom-dweller Elise Testone. Testone was sent back to safety first, leaving Dixon and Cavanagh to sweat it out. Host Ryan Seacrest was up to even more tricks than usual when handing contestants their fate Thursday; at one point he told Joshua Ledet, “I’m afraid … you didn’t get the right number of votes … to put you in the bottom three. You are safe!” (C’mon, Seacrest, that barely even makes sense.) Regarding Ledet, “Idol” mentor Jimmy Iovine remarked, “He could end up in the finale.” In a video package, Seacrest paid tribute to his mentor Dick Clark, who died Wednesday at age 82. The evening also saw performances from Kris Allen, who sang his new song “The Vision of Love,” and party rockers LMFAO, who apologized for their party-rocking ways with a typically raucous rendition of “Sorry for Party Rocking.” What did you think of “Idol” on Thursday? Britney Spears ‘Cannot Wait’ For ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ Premiere

Season seven starts tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV featuring performances set to the best Britney songs. By Kara Warner Britney Spears Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage In anticipation of the epic season premiere of “Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew” , MTV has been rolling out a few very extra special details via Twitter , the biggest one being that tonight’s premiere will feature performances set to our favorite songs from pop princess Britney Spears . Spears tweeted out the good news herself. “Make sure you tune into #ABDC tonight on @MTV at 10/9C!” she wrote. “Heard they’re closing show with Womanizer…CAN NOT WAIT to see what these crews do.” This season, dubbed “Return of the Superstars,” will feature nine all-new hip-hop dance crews and one returning past crew, a fan favorite from season two, Fanny Pak. “This is not Fanny Pak, it’s Back Pack,” joked judge J.C. Chasez. “It’s a huge group now. When I saw Fanny Pak I think there were five members and now there are like eight or nine. I’m excited though because what I loved about Fanny Pak on the season they were on is that they don’t rely strictly on their athleticism as dancers. They really work into the theme, they listen to what the music is saying.” “I love Fanny Pak,” fellow judge Lil’ Mama said. “I think that they’re fantastic as a crew, and when you’re alumni and have been through the ropes you know what to expect, it gets tougher as you go along so and people bring their A-game, so we’re hoping they can last through to the end because they’re a good crew.” This is the first time in the series’ history a crew from a prior season will return to compete for the title. In addition, each episode will feature a different theme built around a popular celebrity artist, including Madonna, Rihanna, Pitbull, David Guetta, Flo Rida and LMFAO. Don’t miss the season-seven premiere of “America’s Best Dance Crew” , airing Wednesday, April 11, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV! For continuing “Crew” coverage, be sure to check in with MTV’s blog.
