Singer reportedly told probation officers that his lawyer prevented him from pleading immediately. By Gil Kaufman MTVi Description: Chris Brown attends his sentencing at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County in Los Angeles on August 25, 2009 Photo: Pool/ Getty Images Documents released on Tuesday during Chris Brown’s sentencing reveal that the singer may have wanted to plead guilty to the beating of his then-girlfriend Rihanna earlier than his June 22 court appearance, but was blocked from doing so by his attorney. According to TMZ , an “ashamed and embarrassed” Brown met with attorney Mark Geragos, his mother and probation officers at Geragos’ office on June 26 and told them he had been was eager to enter a guilty plea for assaulting Rihanna on the morning of February 8.

Rihanna: Movin’ On

Despite recent drama over the sentencing of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, Rihanna refuses to let her style suffer. The singer was spotted heading to a bar in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday night hours after Brown was ordered to stay away from her for five years. He was also mandated 180 days of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling.

Chris Brown Sentenced to Five Years’ Probation; Judge Issues Warning on Rihanna "Chatter"

Chris Brown was formally sentenced in Los Angeles today after accepting a plea deal to felony assault for beating the crap out of Rihanna in February. His lawyer, Mark Geragos, named the community service program in Virginia in which Brown will be enrolling in a 52-week domestic violence program. Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days of community labor.

Breaking Now: Chris Brown Sentenced!

Update : Chris Brown has been sentenced to formal felony probation for 60 months , that’s 5 years and must report for probation within 72 hours of today’s date. Brown must complete 18-hours of manual service, not community service, which could entail washing cars, graffiti removal, and picking up trash in his home state of Virginia.
