The woman’s unstoppable. Fresh off of her historic wins during the 2012 Summer Olympics , Serena beat out Sara Errani today…placing the multi gold medalist in the finals at the U.S. Open. In interviews on the court during and after the match, Serena let us know that she was trying her best to stay calm and collected the whole time. “Well, I did grunt once today, and I thought, `God, I hope I don’t lose the point,” Williams said. “Like I said, my goal this year was not to get in any fights.””It’s really awesome,” Williams said in an on-court interview. “That is what I wanted, and what I dreamed of, all year.” Her opponent Sara Errani wasn’t too happy with her failed match: The latest woman to absorb a lopsided loss against Serena Williams thinks the 14-time Grand Slam champion should take on a new challenge. “Given that men are always quick to say women are a lot worse … I’d love to see her play in a (lower-level) men’s tournament and see how they deal with her. It’s easy to talk. On the court, it would be different,” the 10th-seeded Sara Errani said. “I’ve practiced with a lot of guys ranked 400th or 500th,” Errani explained. “I’ve never played with a man who hits as hard as she does.” “She’s not unbeatable. No one is unbeatable. Anyone can lose. But if she plays well, she’s the best in the world,” Errani said. “It’s stressful against her. She puts a lot of pressure on you. You need to play quickly. Serena Williams can add one more achievement to her Hall of Fame resume: Olympic champion. The 14-time Grand Slam winner won a major tournament on the hallowed grounds of Wimbledon for the second time this summer, destroying top-ranked Maria Sharapova in the Gold Medal match by a score of 6-0, 6-1. It was the most lopsided women’s final in Olympic history. Williams lost only 17 games across six matches and let out a scream and even did a little dance upon taking the decisive point. “I don’t think I’ve ever danced like that,” she said afterward. “I don’t even know where the dance came from.” Serena now moves on to the doubles semifinals alongside sister Venus. It’s been quite a year for the legendary star. “I was so focused here,” she said. “I remember I was serving and I was thinking: ‘Serena, this is your best chance to win a gold medal. You’re at Wimbledon, you’re on grass, you play great on grass, pull it together, just win this.’ And that’s what I thought about.”

Serena Williams got another one! Serena Williams fended off a stirring fightback from Agnieszka Radwanska to win her fifth Wimbledon singles title with a 6-1 5-7 6-2 victory Saturday. It was the 30-year-old American’s 14th grand slam crown and her first since winning at the All England Club in 2010, but Poland’s Radwanska made her fight every inch of the way. Suffering from a respiratory problem and trailing after a one-sided first set, Radwanska recovered from a break down in the second to give Williams a real Centre Court scare. After leveling at one set all, Radwanska took a 2-1 lead in the decider before Williams romped to victory with a run of five straight games. She celebrated by climbing into the stands to embrace her sister Venus and other close connections. Williams spent almost a year on the sidelines, being struck by first injury then serious illness after being laid low by dangerous blood clots. A visibly emotional Williams showed how much victory meant to her in her post-match interview. “I can’t describe it. I almost didn’t make it a few years ago. I was in hospital and I thought I’d never be here again, so this makes it so worth it,” she said. “It’s all the sweeter. I was so down but you never give up. You have to continue,” she added. Williams has capped her steady return to the top with an emphatic performance on the grass courts, particularly since the quarterfinals where she dispatched reigning champion Petra Kvitova. A semifinal win over Victoria Azarenka of the Belarus took Williams into the final, but Azarenka will have the consolation of going to the top of the new world rankings Monday. Radwanska will rise to number two off the back of her fine run and has enhanced her growing reputation. “I am very proud to have got to the final. I am still shaking but I tried, it just wasn’t my day,” the 23-year-old told BBC Sport. “I have been unlucky here, playing in the wind and the rain, but I still played some great matches.” Williams, who wins $1.78 million, is the first woman over 30 to win Wimbledon since Martina Navratilova in 1990 and has now matched the Wimbledon singles tally of her elder sister Venus.
